✦✦ Cbear's Showcase Thread ✦✦
Hi and welcome everyone visiting, I am an Australian who has been playing sims since the very first and loving it. I never really did much building until Sims 4 and I never used the forums until Sims 4 and wow was I missing out.
I have really got into the competitions and learning a lot from them. I was mainly only using the Aussie forums other than for competitions until now and thought I would share my progress with you all here to.
I have made some amazing friends on this forum and I can't imagine not having them in my life to chat to now, but in saying that I've also met some not so nice people to. My advice ignore the bad and cherish the good .
Please feel free to comment and any positive or negative feedback is welcome as it will all help me to improve. When I started everything was always just square and very boring looking so I have challenged myself to improve. I hope you all like what I have been creating.
I run a thread called SimCom with some lovely ladies and friends on here, it is a community thread and highly interactive so check it out: SimCom
I also run a newspaper where I interview simmers in the community its called The Simformer, formally I was doing them for The Gazette thread but I merged my interviews with SimCom. The Simformer

Recently I have really got interested in the Sim storytelling and after chatting to my close friend @lisa17ann we decided to start our first legacies, I've also posted all the rules and guidelines that we are playing by and we hope you will join us to because we are having loads of fun. It's called The Starborn Legacy and we invite anyone to come join in.
Check it out here: The Starborn Legacy

Hi everyone who checks out my showcase hehe,
I have lately been brushing off the dust on my graphics programs and skills, I use to do graphic design for some online games and websites years ago.
I have been having a load of fun creating banners for my competitions and also some siggies and banners for some friends profiles and showcases. I am happy to make banners for other threads of yours like comp threads or anything else but I will limit 2 creations per person.
So I would like to offer my services to those who don't quite have the ability to make nice banners or sigs for themselves.
I don't have endless spare time to make them so you may have to be a bit patient but if you would like one feel free to post here or message me. You can chose the colours and themes I will discuss that with you via messages.
I was going to make a seperate thread for them and I may do that in the future but for now I will just update them in my build showcase thread.
I will update the this post with all the banners I have made for people and even though I am not the best at making them I hope you guys like them.
I also ask that people don't ask for more than 1 of each and plan to use them as they do take time and energy to make them and I put a lot of pride in my creations.
I am however happy to update the ones made if you would like something added down the track.
You will be asked to save them to your computer and upload them yourself as I wont keep them uploaded on my photobucket.
So here are the ones I have made so far for people and myself, I won't include the competition banners.
Build N Share Challenge 22 Link to the Build N Share Challenges
This competition was to build 3 lots using containers 4x10 size with budgets on each one
YAY I won this comp for my level Lot 1: Country CottageGallery Link
Budget for this lot was 50k (including lot price)
Judges Feedback:
Country Cottage is a wonderful A-frame design, having a lovely Alpine appearance. Great choice of windows and doors providing symmetry and the window boxes and lights really enhance the build. Beautiful landscaping at the front and rear, I love the winding path leading to the firepit and pond. Good interior layout and design. The different woods you have chosen give the build a true cottage feel and the fireplace in the living area looks cosy and homely. Gorgeous kitchen, greatly designed and well stocked.
Lot 2: Tranquil RetreatGallery Link
Budget for this lot was 75k (including lot price)
Judges Feedback:
Tranquil Retreat is a gorgeous well balanced symmetrical chalet with a spacious front deck. Your choice of dark fencing, roofing and trims provide great contrast with the wall finishes, with lights adding decoration. The garden themed balcony on the first floor is a fantastic feature which really uplifts the build. Wonderful rustic interiors using stone floors and panelled walls. The woody furniture is an excellent choice and the beautiful yellow colour scheme gives a bright and sunny feel to the build.
Lot 3: The Glam Pad Gallery Link
Budget for this was 100k (including lot price)
Judges Feedback:
Awesome work with your Glam Pad, it really is true to it's name! Great roof structure to this lovely modern 'shed' design. The beautiful planting and fountain provide a very inviting and welcome entrance to the build. Fantastic pool design at the rear, really love the feature with the tree, plants and rocks. It looks great how you've divided the pool with the lounge area, which looks very chic and peaceful. The monochrome colour scheme of the open plan layout look very elegant and stylish, great effects with the pink lighting!
Overall Judges Suggestions:
Regarding the rear of your cottage, I would suggest a symmetry with the windows for this type of design to provide more balance. I think Tranquil Retreat could be improved by using a combination of exterior wall textures to add more interest, ie maybe use a plain render or wood along the middle section where the front door is. I feel the Glam Pad would really benefit from 'bigger' landscaping. There is a lot of land here looking in need of plants, pathways, sculptures, perhaps different areas for seating or activities.

Feedback from Judges:
This is a great entry, well balanced good choice of materials, lovely kitchen. Just not sure about that green light. Considering we have two YA males moving into the house it might have worked better if that was made the bar area or even a music/dance area.
PLAN TO BUILD COMPETITON 1 Link to Plan to Build Competition
This was different and fun they supply a house plan for you to make the house with a budget.
My entry for challenge 1 (Budget 40k):
I tried to go for an older feel to the interior not sure if thats what I ended up with lol Gallery Link to 15 Cedar Crescent
Feedback from Judges:
I loved your front yard, it felt very inviting. Pergola area was lovely. I loved the "cottagey" furnishings but thought the 3 large paintings were a little out of sync with the style.
Judges Feedback:
Very nice cabin and I thought the way you did the kitchen island bench was novel. It was a shame that the plants around the roof went astray. I found, even on the right size block, some parts would not line up properly. I know how long that sort of thing takes and I tried to find out why but it did seem rather haphazard. Like fizzlegig, I would suggest you put ceilings on the decks when you are going to cover them with roofing as it give a more professional look when presenting in pictures.
Welcome to this part of the forums! I'm fairly new myself but there are some very nice and helpful people here. I see your strong point is definitely interior. You have some really lovely and colorful work! Exterior is a whole different beast. Finding the right balance of complexity and simplicity to tell the kind of story you want is tough. I think some helpful tips for exterior is to create some sort of unique focal point, whether it be created with light, color or shape. The rest of the build should aim to accentuate it but not compete. For example, your latest build cedar Crescent is quite nice however both the left and right windows are equally as eye catching. The one on the right takes precedence because it sticks out further so you could choose that part of the build to be a focal point. You could pop a gabled dormer above that window to accentuate it more or come up with anything creative you can think of. I think its important to take inspiration from real examples that work when you are uncertain. Don't be afraid to search for images of houses to inspire you! I hope this helps, good luck!

Well this one was interesting, I placed 4th on this one.
I tried to play do something different with the gardens as I am not that good with them so any feedback would be awesome good or bad.
It is definately not a winning entry but my own personal challenge was to work on my skills with the garden and outdoor areas.
Boeing Sanctuary
Budget was $163,267 Gallery Link to Boeing Sanctuary
Feedback from Judges:
Advertising photos were skillfully taken and the night view was nicel! The landscape lighting and the lighting on the plane were well done and presented. I don't get a very modern feel for the landscaping, but it did fit your theme very welll. I like the lagoon pool, the areas sectioned off for the bar and grill, and the hot tub. The pathing and lighting are well done.I love the cut out nose of the plane that creates the patio area. The use of color is well done and flows throughout a very modern decor. I like the use of half walls separating the kitchen and the study from the living room. The very masculine bedroom looks perfect and the very feminine bedroom on the opposite end of the plane is a nice touch. The lack of some windows though, gives a boxed in/claustrophobic feel and I would have like to see more light coming in. Good use of clutter, spreading it very evenly over the renovation
Zita added: You are in it every week now and with some tweaking on your weaker points you will surly be on top of it all very soon. I loved you landscaping and the color in this reno
@SpecterCody hi and thankyou for the welcome
Thanks for the tips that focal point will definately help me a lot, most of builds I have posted so far are just my competition entries so they are on a tight budget or the house shell was supplied just had to decorate. Just getting up to date with everything then will post my first big build.
I am learning more about themes and have googled real houses in certain themes for some comps that had asked for a specific ones, I would of been lost without doing that hehe.
I only have 1 or 2 more comp entries to post then will post my first big build I am currently doing its called "Pacific Cove".
4SIMS4 BUILDER'S CONTEST Link to the 4Sims4 Builder's Contests
This weeks theme is VIVA LA VILLA with a 40k budget and to create a sim hotel magnate for the competition to.
I struggled with the budget big time on this and I think I went to large on the building but I was to far in to change it all.
Also I think my landscaping suffered big time due to me making it to big. Gallery Link to Sandalwood Villa
Judges Feedback:
This is such a serene villa! And I loved the pool. My couple loved to play around on the beautiful couches and make a scrumptious dinner upstairs! I liked how you used the space well. Good job!
Build N Share Challenge 23 Link to the Build n Share Challenges
Think Tiny was the theme this round and we were to build on a 20x15 lot, the main rule being interior floor space can be no more than 50 squares total with a budget of 30k. It was also to be a modern cottage style.
I had a lot of fun building this one and thought I would try something new. Gallery Link to Stories of a Cottage
Judges Feedback:
Gorgeous modern cottage style build covering three floors, it's amazing what can be achieved in such a small space! Good proportions, the balconies wrap around the build very well adding extra outdoor areas to paint and dine. The lounge area at the entrance looks a wonderful place to relax or dine 'al fresco' and it's good to see you've used terrain paint to create a place for the hot tub and a path leading to the gardening area. Great interior layout using a soft palette for the decoration and furnishings. The half wall is a perfect divider from the kitchen to living area and the stone wall gives the bedroom a great cottage look.
Suggestions: Using different sized 'matching' types of windows at the front would add more interest to the build. Also I think the external appearance would benefit from windows on the side elevations.
Sim Challenge: Great looking couple who look perfect together. You have chosen wonderful traits for them and outfits to suit. Hope they'll be more careful with the incense in future!
Under Renovation Challenge 7 Link to Under Renovation Challenges
This weeks was to build on any 30x20 either of the following 1. Residential, 2. Retail, 3. Library, 4. Nightclub or 5. Spa.
I had limited time to do this one with a busy week but I chose a Nightclub, I think I could of done a lot better with more time with this one. Gallery Link to Stars Nightclub
Feedback from judges:
The color of your club was great. Loved the dark walls with the sparkle of light on it. Lovely advertising picture and the exterior in this case would not require much landscaping as it would look out of place with a night club venue. Loved the blue sign, inviting and telling people to come inside and party. The matching blue fountains really gave it the classy finishing touches. The balcony was lovely for clubbers to sit and enjoy the fresh air before bopping into the early morning. The white and cream decor interior, withe the statue placements was nice for a club and the cafe/restaurant upstairs was a good idea. With the budget in mind, you did a great renovation again
Critique:The first impression we got interior was that this was more likely a lounge than a nightclub. SAving on the budget by adding a big dance floor (maybe black or wood) and adding some "disco lighting" would have transformed it more into a nightclub setting, Nightclub are mostly darker inside with subtle lighting inside and some vibrant colors here and there would have made it pop out. Mirrors also makes a nightclub look more finished. We would have liked to see separate toilets for the gals and boys. Sharing these rooms could lead to potential woo woo or fights that might end up in bad news. lol.
I knew I would do badly on this one it was really rushed and would of thought it out a lot better.
Wow! These are really great. I particularly love the architecture on the outside of your houses. It's very unique but still refined and it doesn't distract from the rest of the house.
It is great that you have set up a showcase thread for your builds Each of your contest builds are very nice! I have been enjoying looking at them on the challenge threads. It is nice that you have all the builds together here.
Thankyou @rosemow I know you have seen most of my entries so far hehe I love seeing your awesome comments to everyones entries. Hopefully now I can show you some of my non comp entries
I've already seen your builds in the AU forum but Boeing Sanctuary is just.... wow awesomesauce still blows me away
The stories of a cottage house reminds me of one of my favourite homes in Twinbrook, I used it as an Art Studio complex for one of my favourite simmies..... aaaah the memories
Currently: Unfinished will post gallery link once it is complete
My first real large build and I didn't plan for it to be as large as it has turned out.
My own challenge, building another lot for myself this is just the shell to see if I can create something different and good from scratch. All feedback welcome even if its to add a level of difficulty for me. Not sure if its a little to square looking from the front already but let me know what you guys suggest or think.
So the house shell started out like this:
Somehow it grew a bit bigger and I ended up placing it on a bigger lot
I have saved the bare shell to my gallery if anyone would like to have a go at decorating it just let me know, it would be interesting to see a different take on it than mine.
Will post progress as I go it ended up bigger than I had planned so there is lots of rooms and some rooms I have put on the gallery so will supply links.
The Relaxation Room:
This room is on the 2nd floor of the house, the front door entry to the house is on this floor. I have changed to flooring to match the rest of the house since this was taken but this is the room on the gallery Gallery Link to Relaxation Room
Bathroom 2nd floor
This bathroom is for guests or family.
The Pool Area:
3rd Floor Pool
3rd Floor Entertaining Room
Inside next to the pool is an entertainment room for throwing parties they have access to 2 bars, the pool, music area with piano and instruments and of course a massive tv with plenty of seating room. I still have to add some clutter on the walls but its nearly complete.
Please I welcome any feedback good or bad if you think something doesn't look right comment as it is the only way I will learn if I have done something wrong.
@Esine hehe hi and thankyou the more I look at Boeing Sanctuary the more I love it, I was really at a loss of what to do when I first saw that challenge and I really wanted to make a nice garden that was relaxing even though it had a huge plane dumped in the middle of it lol.
So I am pretty horrible at decorating childrens rooms so here is my attempt for a boys room, I didnt want to go to overboard with lots of colors or anything as was trying to stick with the theme for the house.

This weeks was to build on any 30x20 either of the following 1. Residential, 2. Retail, 3. Library, 4. Nightclub or 5. Spa.
I had limited time to do this one with a busy week but I chose a Nightclub, I think I could of done a lot better with more time with this one.

The stories of a cottage house reminds me of one of my favourite homes in Twinbrook, I used it as an Art Studio complex for one of my favourite simmies..... aaaah the memories
I have changed to flooring to match the rest of the house since this was taken but this is the room on the gallery

Master Bedroom
This room is on the ground floor.
So here is the ensuite to the master bedroom
So I am pretty horrible at decorating childrens rooms so here is my attempt for a boys room, I didnt want to go to overboard with lots of colors or anything as was trying to stick with the theme for the house.
