Do you think The Sims 4 = Failure?

But I believe that it's a decent game and that it's gonna get better through free updates and DLC.For now just a few times I went back to play TS3 or TS2.
Do I think the game is a failure of a Sims game?: Absolutely. It's not the open sandbox game meant for players of all different interests to enjoy that the Sims franchise has been built upon. It's not up to par with its predecessors and doesn't light a candle to the Sims 2 or the Sims 3. The way I see it it's the product of the TS1 and 15 years of technological improvement. Not the product of TS3 and the 5 years of technological improvement that it should have been.
Shoot they thought so little of the Life Simulation side of the game in Sims 4, they felt the focus on other things were more important then the life stages - they said so. There were no ghost stage, no individuality spent on the various life stage (but ya and child) - never mind removing the toddlers we had in the game for the last 10 years - they did not even have ghosts - still do not have cemeteries or anyway to manage the dead. No memories system - no we get a scrape book for memories - and even the Devs seemed surprised we were upset over no family tree - as one even admitted they did not even think of it. HELLO!!!!! This is a life Simulation Games last I looks you type in Simulation games and we get the Sims series games - so yes - as a part of the Sims series, as a life simulation game - major PHAIL!!!! They should have Headlined it and kept it at what it seems best at - at being what the department heads called it - a Time Management Soap Opera - and like all the side games for pc they all ran good on low end pcs. In this day and age - most companies move their top level games to better graphics, newer technology - I don't see EA making the new Star Trek or Battlefield or any of their newest top games on this same low level of technology. You want to play those games - you best invest in your computer if you plan to fully enjoy them. They are in our same price range - so why do we not get the same quality.
Other EA series - they don't go and completely wipe out the whole format and turn the games from one kind of game and make it something unlike it was previously - no they take that format and make it into a higher technical savvy version fitting of the next step up in that series. Most games in series are done like that. I have played many series and I know it. From the introduction of Sims 4 the first thing many of us said - is this is not a Sims series game.
So as a life simulation, part of the Sims series - it is a big failure. As a side game - The Sims Soap Opera - must be pretty good and appeals to people who like that kind of thing - I just know Sims series does not ever have ghosts culled, incest with family members and even children, the added after the fact family trees wiped out due to culling - maybe a soap opera does - I don't know I don't watch them - so for that probably isn't a fail - but it will never be the 4th rendition of our beloved Sims series. That much I can assure you.

No because it's almost exactly what I'm waiting for, just the game needs more content.
The main thing I regret is it's too much a "The Sims" game (kind people in a perfect world).
Unlike SimCity, there is a strong core of players who still play to The Sims 4.
SimCity servers were overloaded at the launch but 2 years later almost nobody is connected, this is a failure.
The people who complains is a noisy minority, the real players are too busy to play to TS4.

The Sims 4 General DiscussionI think they're just a troll and serve a kind of goofy-fun role here on the forums.
And for me TS4 has failed. But that's just my personal opinion.
Let's face it, there are lot worse games in world, but I don't even think, that The Sims 4 is a fail.
Edit. If all games are same, the gaming world is so boring.
Simcity was a failure, they didn't listen to their customers wanting improvement. After a year or so they had trouble holding up the sales and yeah, it'll backfire because of that. Even though Sims 4 hadn't had have? a great start (my English is horrible), I do notice they're trying to fix bugs almost every month, adding content, sometimes for free sometimes paid and constantly looking to improve the game. It's not perfect, but it doesn't have to be perfect.
I do hope they'll fix some more serious bugs later on, but for me, the Sims 4 is doing great on it's own, not perfect, just doing okay. Who knows what content might be made for it, it's only been a year and it's obvious people do like this game. I often go on tumblr to see people posting Sims 4 content and it's a vibrant and alive community, cc is being made daily and fast, if a game is doing that bad it would've died out about now, to me I only see more and more people enjoying this game.
There are so many similarities with Sims 4 and SimCity that people need to wake up and more importantly, wake up Maxis to tell them to stop destroying their franchises.
To me it is a failure to the series, they changed it so much they had to call it a different genre to explain its existence..
To me it appeals to people that need to be told what to do and have an over easy game to play.. I see it now more than ever games dumbing down to appeal to the new set of players (WoW anyone?) at the cost of losing long time players/customers.. I see it in forums of Early Access games.. The I want it simple crowd against us remaining hardcore gamers or gamers that don't want dumb down games..
To me it is a failure because of the above and I am old school and want games not to hold my hand and be so overly easy a child of 6 can pick it up and catch on..
And it is not my fault because they decided to try and make 4 an online game out pure greed (MMOs do make a killing off micro transactions).. They should of delayed the game for making that mistake on online.. And very few games from EA online are a success.. Because they do not want to put in $$$ to make them work successfully and want to charge over the top prices for cheap games..
But I am old school and tell it like it is.. I even recently told the devs of Ark Survival Evolved that I found something they did was bad and deleting post was like another company I knew and I thought they were better than that.. So, it isn't just EA I will crit on..
They had 15 years of data to read on and collect for 4... They chose simple, cheap, and reconstruct on an online game that they KNEW would not be accepted.. To me it is a whole lot of dancing around the mistakes they made.. and trying to cover up the fail..
The basegame is still so boring and we still don't have much control in the town public spaces, terrain tool or even a proper pond tool
Family play is such a mess with this game and the packs are just boring!
I gave up playing spa day after an hour and the stuff pack just not for me and gave up until get together comes out
It seems it really is a failure and I can take it or leave it to be honest. It's just lost its magic it had with the sims 2 and 3
Not being the worst is hardly a reason to pop the cork on champagne and celebrate. Granted, Sims 4 isn't a fail in the profit sense, as it looks like it turned a profit and will continue to do so. It did, however, fail to move the series forward. Instead of building on what was good about Sims 3, it cut them in order to prop up the quarterly statement. Maxis failed. In my opinion, of course.
Yeah, linear gameplay is so unique. You know what other game series directs me and tells me what I need to do? Pokémon!
I find myself getting bored so quickly with this game. And it's not like I don't want to play it, I really want to love it, it's just that doing the same things over and over again with the tiny amount of content gets old very fast. In terms of gameplay, I feel like for every step forward that the game takes, it takes 3 steps back, and that's not a good thing for a sequel, especially a sequel to a game as massive as Sims 3.
Love it - 14
In the middle or just bored - neither hate or love - 27
Says it is a failure or flop to them- 37
Hmmmm - Love it is far from the majority is all I have to say - and that is just on this thread. Go to some of the other Sims sites - it is doing far worse then here (well except for SimsVIP, and they sort of frown on you posting negatives about it there) - as most other sites I have checked lately - they are not saying anything positive at all.

It shows also on the custom content from modders. There is way less CC and mods for 4, and I know quite a few that have just thrown up their hands and walked away from making CC and mods.. Yes, I have a lot of CC and some mods.. But it took doing some crazy research to find a lot outside of TSR (I have a tech hubby that builds and repairs comps..so instead of paying 10 bucks for cheesy GP and SP.. I pay 3.50 a month when there is stuff I want on a site in CC and/or Mods better stuff)..Where I use to find CC there is little to barely none for 4..
I only used a very few mods in Sims 3, this due to issues the devs made and refuse to fix...and those were Twallan's Mods..
There is more ways than one that shows 4 is not all they claim it to be.. not to mention the on sale base almost always or free trails..
Now imagine if they used today's tech like most games do these days ... an really advanced on Sims 4 (not talking realism) and used the imagination of the players who are their customers when all is said and done.. what Sims 4 could of been..
Without forgetting the 36k players online... sure it's very impressive these 78 posts (0,2% of 36k players) ... as much as the 558 pledges of nanashi-sims (1,5% of 36k players)
As I said the minority is very noisy but they stay a tiny minority
I don't think somewhere there are more than 10k of simmers who hate the game.
