But maybe you've got @Mrknowitall526 's mod installed? In my game they really all stay at home and when I took some of them to the library at one point, they went home after a while and I believe they teleported there (didn't follow them but they were so instantly home that I can't believe they really traveled ).
No, I do not have that one nor Ani's apartment mod. Come to think of it, my homeworld sims (not counting Dorms and Frat/Sorority Houses in Uni World) have never had roommates on an actual Apartment type lot before, these have all been regular Residentials using the phone-up roommate service, Ask to Be Roommate, or MC.
I think I'm gonna try that then and once the roommates are there I'll change their looks and traits to the original roommates using MC. Fingers crossed...
I had a lazy roommate who would go to Simfest contests (they were an Acrobat), and otherwise stay in the house watching TV. Refused to cook, thought cleaning was for other sims, and rarely went to bed before 3am. But she was more then happy to munch on anything in the fridge. I could cook up family sized portions of 3 different dishes, and in 3 days all of the leftovers were gone.
They all cook in my apartment, that's nice (though I have to keep an eye on putting it in the fridge myself ). Cleaning they never do, not even the neat one. But I can order them to.
without mods you are limited to 8 sims you can control at any one time in a game. With Pets Expansion you can add two or more pets but you can still only have a total of 10 (12?) in the household and never more than 8 Sims (non pets sims).
In an apartment building you can live in an apartment and non playable sims will populate other empty apartments. You can't see inside the other apartments.
Adding room mates means adding sims you can't control to your household and you are still limited to a total of 8 sims in the household plus pets. More than 2 pets will reduce the number of Sims you can have in the household.
To control more Sims you need mods and that will reduce the performance of your game. You will need to learn ways to keep the game going if you want to expand the number of sims you control.
Edit I've added a bunch of mods to let me extend the number of playable sims in my household and often have up to 20 Sims I control. However they generally all live in the same house. I do occasionally split them between houses and that can be done but there are issues with some actions not being available to the sims I have placed in the second house.

Fear not the fae, for they are harmless. Anger not the fae, beware their wraith. Harm not the fae, fear the Faerie Knight.

@OnyxLioness Oh, haha. I allow You to ask a couple of silly questions.
By the chicken-tooth. -Asking about how many sims You can have?
Base game =8sims + 2 pets. ...Theeeen, we have mods, but that is a voodoo that, well, can be done. But... -Maybe 20, or is it 18?
-I rarely hear about more than ~12 in a family. -REALLY, REARLY.
Add stuff is my advice, the sims available (8), ought to be sufficient for now, unless You played for ages, and then... ...That question wouldn't come up.

Eh, I got revenge by making the lazy sim actually (gasp) cook her own food. Oh, and woke her up at 5am by playing a guitar in her room. Multiple times.

Why, You both better take some time to consider your behaviour. My father slapped me if I thought of these things.

Haha, really ? I do remember a roommate at university refusing to do it, but she just looked at my sim as if she'd gone mad or something. Probably because they weren't close enough. There was no violence involved though haha!
@JoAnne65 - That's odd. My sims' roommates, no matter how they became such, have no problems going to work/school or hanging out around town all on their own. They even help themselves to my sims' cars if I leave them parked in a parking space on the home lot instead of in my sims' inventories. One of them even drove my sims' kids around if they (and a car) were available whenever I would direct the kids to go to a community lot, rather than the kids having to bike there or take a subway, taxi, etc.

@JoAnne65 I didn't change any of that at all but my experience with roommates is that they are lazy, don't clean, break stuff ALL THE TIME and generally come and go as they please.
@Mrknowitall526 -I use your UL apartment lot and roommates patch from MTS in my game as it allows UL apartment lots to be used without getting spammed with unwatned roommates and that service is only activated for the lot you're playing when you activate it with that fix installed.Yoy called it a Mod and it's more like a game patch.
Thank you so much for your replies/answers. This info is very helpful. I am still working on downloading a pre-made house for the empty lot I just bought. So in the meantime I moved my couple into a 4 bedroom mansion. I will try to see if I can "seduce" other people into moving in. Because I also want to see if polyamory relationship can exist in this game.

Have you tried making your own Sims yet in Create a Sim?

Oh, yeah, well there's that, too :-). There were just so many things wrong with the EA version ..... I don't understand how they pushed that out to us!

Hello @Karritz ! To answer your question No I haven't made another. I still have my original, Kennedy Hooper as I've only been playing for 27 days :)
Can I create a new sim and add them to my current active household?
@OnyxLioness Yes, you can. You create a sim (or sims) in CAS and then you save them to the bin. From the bin you can add them to your household in Edit Town (8 sims in one household max)

Yes. And you can keep them to use again.
I still have the first Sims I made back in 2009 and still play with them from time to time.
I've moved them between games and between computers.
You can save them as a Sims3Pack file if you want to and save that file to an external drive so you have a backup copy you can install later on if necessary. You just put their file into your Downloads folder and install it.
Hello Everybody Again :) Is there another thread where new players can ask questions about the game? Not about technical issues, but about gameplay and building? This thread is for welcoming new players and I don't want to spam with my 10,000 questions. Thank you kindly.
I think there are threads all over the forums. Then there are YouTube videos you can watch too.
I am learning YouTube at the moment and making videos about Sims doing things in Isla Paradiso. I have a lot of mods in my game and use cheats to keep the game going but if you watch some of what I've been up to you will get ideas.
My videos in IP are just bits cut out of my game as I had a lot of lag in that game due to things such as the world having its own problems and I keep pushing my game to do more than it was designed to do.
The last few videos I've done so far are about visiting the World Adventure worlds and exploring the tombs.
There are videos around of people doing all sorts of things with their games including building.
And this is a link to my studio to see what I've done with buiding. I wasn't using mods or CC when I built the things I've got in my studio but there is a lot of store content in them.
If you just go and read threads in the Sims 3 Creative Corner section of the forum you will see lots of threads by different people. They are divided up between worlds, builds, stories and legacies and I think there is one about making sims too.
EDIT: I'm thinking of other threads you might enjoy now too.
@OnyxLioness I am sure that no-one will mind you asking a few questions in this thread for now until you are able to start your own threads. I know nothing about building but I could probably answer some gameplay questions Happy Simming

Sorry if this is late advice, don't have time to catch up on the whole thread right now, but if you want to learn about building The Sims Supply's old Sims 3 videos on YouTube are really good at showing you the basics of how to build and then some advanced tricks.
