Challenge number: 8 Origin ID: icanhassims Gallery Name & Link: A Tale of Two Sisters Notes: These two sisters knew they wanted to live together but knew that their decorating styles, and personalities, would never merge well. So they came up with this unique townhouse solution. Each has their own home, including separate entrances, but have a shared backyard. One sister is into industrial chic; whereas, the other sister into cute and comfy. Building Tips Feedback Wanted? Yes, please Screenshots
A Tale of Two Sisters is a lovely creatively designed two home build! @icanhassims The exterior design of each home /side, landscaping, windows and the interior furnishings suit the industrial chic and the cute and comfy styles so very well! Very nice shared outdoors dining and bbq backyard area! They will enjoy cooking food on the bbq and eating together in the outside air. It looks very great the way you have cactus plants for one side, pretty pink and purple flowers on the other side, and sunny sunflowers in the middle! They will enjoy gardening in the boxes. Very pretty pink colour scheme of the comfy and cute side! The floral curtains, canopy bed, very nice sofas and the pretty decorated eggs on the wall shelving either sides of a flower arranging table are very lovely! She will enjoy doing flower arranging there. The wall texture, industrial style kitchen counters and cabinets, black curtains, modem windows, black furnishings and the black sculpture of the other home capture the style well!
It is a great build of two homes for the sisters!
Hi I just did my 1st Twitch stream...Test and it looks ok but the sound well distorted you cant hear me at all, so I will fiddle with settings today and hopefully fix that. I have a new microphone so its the settings I guess.
Twitch page is here https://www.twitch.tv/luckyheathersim/
do follow if you are interested
@luckyheather, I took a look at your Twitch video. I adore the build you were working on. It's a shame that the audio didn't work out. I look forward to being able to watch more when you get it sorted.
@luckyheather, oh I don't know... it could be kind of fun to sound like an alien playing the Sims. lol But seriously, looking forward to hearing your voice along with the building.
Thanks @Takissis Im glad you like the park I was working on, thanks for the comments in my creation's thread its great hearing from you about the park I finished off stream and how you like it.
@icanhassims it would have been very funny sounding like an Alien Lol but you cant hear me at all only noise, so we sorted out the microphone and OBS settings hopefully so I can do another test, at least you could see my game and it did the video so at least its getting there! I will look at your home today, thanks for your entry.
Thanks @icanhassims I know that now as no one told me in chat when they were watching so I talked for about 2 hours, my throat was sore after that Lol. I hope we can figure this out, I do have a video to watch today about audio so fingers crossed next time will be perfect Thanks for watching sorry for not hearing me.
I am now at your home called 'A Tale of Two Sisters' @icanhassims and I am amazed at how two different houses look so normal next to each other! even the mix of different plant types at the front and rear garden. Its a coincidence as I love industrial and my one and only sister does like the more old fashioned cozy home. So I will go into the Industrial home first and inside the room is mostly open plan with a toilet/bathroom opposite the front door with the leather sofa in front facing a large wall TV screen that is perfect to watch movies on and next to that is a HiFi and the chess set under the stairs where my sim is sitting right now. Behind the smaller very modern sofa is a great industrial styled kitchen with plenty of counters and a breakfast bar with seating for four. I love how you added a bookcase by the kitchen so anyone can read cook books in the kitchen or on a sofa and the wall plants look so nice in there bringing some outdoors greenery inside.
By going upstairs via the black metal stairs you find another open plan room with wooden flooring and on the left side a desk and computer with filing cabinets to keep your papers in and opposite the desk a bar for refreshing drinks. There is great modern art and posters on the walls that match well with the DJ booth where you can practice being a DJ plus friends or family can dance to the great sounds being played. Bookshelves and a a screen separate the area that has the bed and dresser for some privacy. I like those blue bottles with candles in for a punch of colour by the bed and the planter with a big Cacti that ties in with the cacti in the garden.
Now next door to a very different style for the other sibling who likes a more old fashioned cozy feel with the pink tones and the toilet/bathroom is behind the TV screen standing on a table with vintage style couches and bench for when using the white bookcase for a reading corner. This home has its kitchen in a separate room past the four chairs table, then through an archway, the pretty kitchen again has plenty of counters and nice rear windows to look out to the garden.
Upstairs is an open plan room with armchairs either side of a globe bar and pretty table in the corner. The bed is a four poster with canopy and either side on the walls are sweet fairy lights and a floral wreath behind the bed. Opposite the bed is a nice desk with a pink laptop computer and the books are held on white shelves beside that. The vintage style white dresser drawers has a sweet teddy with a heart on top and facing the rear of the room is a collection of china eggs on stands that shows this lady loves to collect them every Easter. Below the window is a Florist workbench that can either just be a hobby or even a career by selling them.
The rear shared garden has plants to suit both siblings and homes, on the left a Cacti bed and on the right pretty cottage style flowers and there is large planters to grow your own plants as well. For fun there is a set of swings and for dining outside a good BBQ and a table with chairs for four. The homes share a sprinkler system in case of fires just in case, we do not want to see these sisters homes on fire and not have help putting them out do we.
Now for my Building Tips Feedback I hope is useful to you and you can ignore anything I say its up to you of course. The homes do look rather good together it was such a clever idea by you. I do like the Cacti front and rear but I feel the plants needed some terrain paint at the front as well like the back. The rear garden I would have split in 2 with a rear gate on each or central gate and as it is I would have added a small pool for them to share as I love seeing them sit on the edge chatting in the sun, plus a couple of loungers and a radio or guitar out there. As there is a fair bit of room out there I would have not put swings and maybe have done a flower bed for flowers to grow for the Florists bench and not had the plant trays, flowers in the soil is more pretty and natural I think. Just ideas I would think of out there.
Indoors I looked for a shower or bath but could see them in either house only toilets, I am sure a mistake anyone could make and I would have made full bathroom in each upstairs as there is room. I would have made a spare small bedroom possibly in the pink home as the bedroom is so large, a spare bed is handy for a guest or to rent out. The coffee table by the vintage couches I think would have suited better if it was a vintage or even cottage style table. Oh and some wall art of country scenes or flowers would be pretty by the dining table. In the industrial side I would have some art above the sofa and some small items on the coffee table. Personally I would prefer either of the darker wood options for the industrial kitchen counters and upstairs bar. Both kitchens could need some wall and counter objects to have a more lived in look and on the laundry day wall shelves in the pink home. The industrial dresser needs some scent bottles or something on them and the pink house bedroom has no tall mirror to admire yourself in. The only other thing I would have done was add more wall lights as at night there are some darker areas in the home and out the back some lights are needed. I hope I did not go on too much as they are lovely homes and my thoughts are just that my thoughts. Thank you for entering your home/homes I enjoyed looking at them and my sim enjoyed the DJ booth!
@luckyheather thank you so much for your review and suggestions! I can't believe I forgot to put in showers. Ugh. You make excellent points about some of the decor choices and I think I'll play around a bit more with the houses. I think I'll also split up the comfy bedroom to make it more intimate. Thanks again!! (I hope your voice is feeling better)
Hey @luckyheather / everyone, just wanted to pop in say hi 😊
I’ve been awol for a few weeks due to a stressy start of the crisis and then losing my laptop/time to home schooling and working from home, but a couple of lovely messages me drew me back and boy do I realise how much I miss you guys! I’ve scanned some beautiful builds (and some *awesomely* detailed feedback).....it feels like coming home
Not sure I’ll get much build time for a while longer but I’m certainly going to make a real effort to fit some in - loving the new challenges luckyheather!
It is impossible for me to do small builds. Yep, I will just have to accept it. I am making this challenge so much harder for myself than it needs to be. Just a quick..."Omg, what did I do to myself?" moment. Nothing to see here. Everyone can move on. I might be done sometime next year, but I'm too far in to scrape it now.
I am glad to be of some help @icanhassims I have DL the new version and I will look at it later. If you want you can put it in another Post here and add some screenshots of the areas you changed so people can see and use the new Gallery Link
Always good to hear from you @AliSim19 im pleased you like the challenges, do feel free to do any of them when ever you have the time we know its all very difficult for everyone at this time, I hope you and yours say safe and well

@Takissis my husband often says 'well you do, do it to yourself!' when I complain about how long or difficult a creation is being Lol. I prefer smaller homes as I get bored but im quite happy doing a community lot as not having to do loads of bedrooms and bathrooms etc Lol. Just have fun and it gets done eventually!
I have started on my Siblings homes but it needs a bigger lot or no rear garden but as I am trying to get the Twitch streaming working right its taking up my time and our patience every day, now I have a sore throat to make it more difficult to test it! I hope next time I Twitch stream people will actually tell me how it looks and sounds... including me I have headphones with mic built on but they are too big and make my ears hot! I hope to get the desk Mic working today! fingers crossed Lol.
The changes that you have made to your lovely home has made it even better than it was before! @icanhassims The new pool in the outdoors dining area is very nice. The table and teaset in the pretty pink sofas seating area is a special touch.
