Busy and enjoyable I hope :)

Worry not, there's still more than a month before the deadline (at least), so hopefully you will have time to create something special ...

@ajaxpost a part of my bar is a little crammed, mostly because I think it suits the style. Is that really a big problem? Because I can still delete a table and seats if you really want a more spacious lot.

    Hi @SjappielovePaul well, it depends ... ;)

My main concern is that everything works and there are no routing issues around the important features if there are four or five Sims at the lot, so the bar works, the gaming tables play, the tables can be sat at, etc., etc.

So, compact is certainly fine by me, as long as everything works. Thank you for asking, I hope my answer helps.

Yup, thanks :) I'm was going to testplay to see if all routing works fine tomorrow or the day after, so it should be perfect then!

    Name: SjappielovePaul
Name of Lot: Sally's Motel (7 Diopside Lane)
    Description of the Venue
Sally started her motel a long time ago. Since then less tourists stopped by in town and her motel got less attention. She left it and some shady types took their business into the motel. Now it's a place a lot of people won't come anymore.

The lot offers not only the bar and the two motel rooms but also a kitchen with the business oven serving some sloppy food for those who dare to come in, a hidden playing hall with another bar, a pool table and all casino tables, hidden to stay safe when police raid the place, and on the top level remains of when Sally's was blooming, the dance hall; old, dusty, but still remaining. Only to enter through a secret entry after the stairs were taken down. Which may have to do with the hidden nectar distillery in the storage room.

I will try to post some more pictures in my own thread with exchange buildings, but image hosters aren't really working with me lately.

I hope it is to your expectations :)

I know it is exactly what I wanted except for not having a salloon piano! And it was great fun to build it!

Ok, I'm officially stepping aside from the thread while I design my lot. I don't want to steal anyone's ideas, intentionally or otherwise. I'll be back soon. Just didn't want y'all wondering what happened to me.

I'm probably going to slip away from this too while I'm building an entry, but before I do - quick question: can we enter more than once?

Great job! It most definitely has that 'down-at-heel' feel and the old western look of the bar is a very nice touch. :star:

I will download and and have a play ASAP.

Oh, well, I never considered that possibility :)

Umm, yes, I think so, but only one will win Simpoints.

Thanks :) I think I'll upload it as a resort as well, it would be easy to change it into one I imagine. Then it can still be a motel, but it has the possibility to change into a nice place haha!

Oh, yes, that is an excellent idea!

I have not yet played with resorts - I'm hoping one generation in my legacy will take on the task of running one.

I can imagine turning a derelict and unloved old motel into a five-star destination would make a great story arc. :)

Ace! I just need to finish my request build and I've got a few ideas that I want to see if I can do. Knowing me, I'll probably only come up with one though because I am the world's slowest builder

Nice look @SjappielovePaul I think you choose great wooden tones that work well together.

Must admit I am constantly amazed at how intuitively and quickly some people can create great builds; I reckon I would give you a good run for you money as the world's slowest builder - I will take hours deciding on wallpapers and then days on décor! :cold_sweat:

At the end of the day though it's about the satisfaction of creating something you're proud of, however long it takes. :)

Yes I definitely agree with you about being satisfied with what you create.

I don't know about that - I've currently been working on this build for about a month - hoping to finish it this weekend and get started on this contest. It's been awhile since I've entered one! :)

It´s been a very long time since I participated in any contest... but this sounds extremely tempting >:)
Not sure if I will be able to come up with something, but as the deadline is December I will give it a try. I will be back when I made any progress, and lurking in the meantime :)

Oh yes, temptation is very much in the spirit of this competition :naughty:

Thank you so much for taking an interest, it's so good to be able to inspire such creative people, I look forward to seeing your creation.

Alright, it took WAAAY too much fighting with the exchange to get this uploaded, but here is my entry. Like a true professional, I forgot to take any in game pictures

    http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=9001474

No CC, 20x30 lot, store content heavy (particularly the Then and Now Manor). Enjoy! Edit: Don't go based off the store content list the exchange is listing, it seems to have ignored a lot of the content.

    Excellent, thank you! :)

Yep, the old Sims 3 site and the Exchange can be pretty darned frustrating, but so glad you persevered. I've downloaded it now, may not be able to put it in game tonight but certainly over the next couple of days I will start play-testing - looking forward to discovering it's secrets!

Aw, this sounds so fun! I wish I'd have picked up The Lucky Simoleon the last time it was on the DD, but alas ... I was waiting for the best possible price. And I just discovered it's not a CYS set. Bummer!

Oh no! That is a shame. You don't need the casino as such, there are a few other gambling options available in the Store which can be used ... :)

@ajaxpost, So I'm checking out the premium content in the gambling genre. And I noticed that the Let It Ride Roulette Table is the most inexpensive option. So if I buy just this one, will that work for you? Are the routing options for the other two gambling tables the same as this one? And as for the slot machine--if the routing option is the same, could I use a fridge in its place? I know that's a little strange, but you could just drop in the proper content there. I'm trying to make this work on a shoestring budget! :p

As it happens, I think the first time I actually played any of these gambling tables was when play-testing the entries for this competition!! :hushed:

As far as I can tell, yes, all the tables have the same routing options. I think the only difference is that some require two players, some will work with only one.

For the slot machines, there are some other game machines, from Generations and some other kid-oriented sets as I recall - if you have any of those they may give you a better feel for layout than a fridge?

And thank you so much for your interest in this competition.
