BTW did the person who asked months ago about sims for a Downton Abbey thing ever happened?

That was me and no it hasn't happened yet, LOL. Real life kicked my butt.

I just saw something disturbing on tonight's episode of DA and its gross me out completely

@MadameLee I just watched last week's episode and just started tonight's and my dad sort of implied something awful so soon I'll be in the know and probably crying. :bawling:

@CathyTea I shan't let you forget about the image sharing site!!!!

I have a question for all the wordpress people. I'm super close to the 3gb limit on media and in order to increase it I'd have to buy the premium subscription. I don't really want to do that. Is there anyway to add pictures once I hit my limit? For those who read my story know there's a lot of story left, plus I'm starting a new one ;)

I'd hate to have to restart the blog somewhere else :/

I'm in the same boat! We were talking about this just the other day! @sunnyshay and a few others use Flickr, and they have had great luck with it. (That's what I think I'll use.) Others us imgur. I forget what @Meggles said she used, but it sounds really neat. I've heard of others using PhotoBucket, too. So there are lots of options!

I know some folks who host pictures off-site occasionally run into broken images (sometimes it seems to be browser or even IP-related), so that's one thing that I want to be sure to ask about before I commit myself. I'm pretty sure that the Flickr users haven't run into issues with this.

Correct. I've never run into issues where my picture didn't show because a certain limit was reached. I love flickr!

Is this thread only for Sims 4 stories (Apparently, there were 2 Stories and Legacies)? I've only just found out about this section in this forum.

Hi @CandyCadet ! I recognize you from the other Stories and Legacies section! Don't feel bad about the confusion -- most of us around here were in a similar boat -- we thought we were the only one too! It's confusing to have two, I think. But oh well...

Even though this is technically the TS4 section of the forums, we have several writers who use TS3 who post regularly on this thread, and several of the TS4 folks around here still play TS3 as well! So the answer is... It's for everyone! (Though of course there is going to be a bit of a focus on TS4 in people's questions/comments about their gameplay, because that's what most of us are using for our stories. But we talk a lot about SimLit writing in general, which applies to everyone! And we have ridiculous and fun conversations that are also for everyone ;) )

    Welcome!

the reason its in the sim 4 section is i was to scared to try a legacy before 4 came out. when 4 came out i met cathtea and she helped me get this going. but citizen is right we like all stories.welcome.

And also, when we created this thread, I didn't really know how the forums worked... I was scared to venture out of the Creative Corner, because of all the "I want toddlers" crying and other hate-stuff, so I just stayed here in this corner, and I didn't even know that this was the TS4 section... Then @mastressalita and @SilverDaybreak started inviting us to their threads, which are in other neighborhoods... so we sort of tried to integrate the TS4 section and TS3/2 sections. It would be lovely if we just had one polyTS Creative Corner where we could all hang out together!

silverhas threads i didn't know that. i knew about mast.

@SilverDaybreak hosts the Sims and Friends: Share Your Stories thread in the Stories and Legacies section of the forums. It's sort of the Writers' Lounge equivalent of that forum, except it is much, much slower paced. ^_^ Anyone and everyone is welcome there. In fact, that forum technically doesn't have a "game" association to it -- it's just that because these forums split off and made the Sims 4 Stories and Legacies section, what ended up happening is all the TS4 writers moving over here, and all the TS3 writers ending up over there... a divided community. Many of us (me, Silver, Cathy, and many many others) have been in favor of a more "integrated" writing community for some time, and the best we can do is promote our threads as places that are warm and welcoming of all Simmers, no matter what game they play.

I maintain the Stories and Legacies Index which is also in that section of the forums (the Stories and Legacies section) and I still have trouble getting a lot of the Writers' Lounge "regulars" to go submit their stories to it, even after I've sent them an invite (and I'll never send more than one, cause that just looks, in my opinion, spammy and desperate. :-P ) But it has always been welcoming of stories from any Sim game at all! I even have at least one entry for The Sims and Sims Mideval, a handful of TS2 stories, and TS4 entries have finally outnumbered TS3 entries on it! (Hahaha, though it is still pretty close between the two! Lots of authors for both of those games still out there!) So anyone who hasn't submitted their stories there is always more than welcome to do so. I just kinda stopped advertising over here cause it seemed I'd sort of bottled out at all the folks I was going to get from WL... but they are still always welcome, regardless!

(You guys know me, I may play/write TS3, but I read/watch anything when it comes to The Sims!)

@friendsfan367 : Umm... I'm not sure where you've ever gotten this idea. The Stories and Legacies Index takes new submissions all the time. 24/7. Every day. I added a new site to it just today.

@friendsfan367 : Nope, people can submit their story sites to the Stories and Legacies Index at any time. I tend to update it in the evenings, but they can post submission forms whenever they want. I update it at least once every single day.

It is only one section of the entire index -- the Monthly Shoutouts section that gets updated once a month, on the first. This particular section is for stories that were submitted on the Monthly Site Shoutout thread the previous month. I collect all those up and swap that section out -- it's like a rotating gallery in an art museum, of stories recommended by readers.

Keep scrolling down (it's a big index!) to get to the main index, which is simply an alphabetical listing of all story sites ever submitted to it, and any user can submit their site, at any time. I'll even automatically track updates and plug them on the thread every single day, and every week I pick stories out of the index to read and briefly highlight on my Weekly Reading Roundup thread. Think of it like a virtual library for Sim stories... and the nice part is there is always room for more stories to be added to the shelves. ^_^

@CandyCadet: You're not alone here. ;) I only found out about this section recently too, after I kept getting mysterious hits from this thread back in October.

Do you know what CandyCadet writes? :o That awesome TS3 homeless story with the Muse/Radiohead soundtrack! :o<3

I know! And it's on my list for Radiohead alone. ;)

Oh, Radiohead. I get so happy everytime I hear Radiohead...

@lovesstorms Wow you have a lot on your plate right now. I don't understand how you get through just one day with all of that.

For question one, I tend to take screenshots and just write out of them. sometimes I will write something that isn't on screenshots and then I will go take screenshots for that.

Like for example, the other day my kids mother called and wanted to hang out and that I hadn't planned on so he goes and has a good time and then i wrote about that. That's something i couldn't have written about if the game hadn't let it happen. Well, I mean I could but I wouldn't have done it.

The second question I don't quite understand so i can't answer that.

It sounds like you are pretty stressed at the moment. Maybe you could take some time off work, like a little vacation for about a week to just look after yourself and then get your husband to help around the house? I think that would be a good idea. And then you got some time to do what you want - write!

We all need to look after ourselves as well. That doesn't make us selfish in a bad way. We can't always look after other people all the time. I know I couldn't. I tried it once for a long time and it wore me down. Basically because my ex-boyfriend was a big baby (and he was 12 years older than me) so I had to do everything in the apartment while he just sat at his computer all day, drinking. It made me crazy and when we finally broke up it gave me time to do something for myself.

My point is, maybe get help from your husband. I don't know what he does and doesn't do, but it seems to me you are overloaded with things to do.

    Have a nice day :)<3

Thanks! How exactly do you use images from those sites without it taking up space in my media folder? I store my images with Imgur. Do you put the links in the story instead of putting them in your media folder?

Yes! Use the links. When you go to add the media, there's an option to "Add via URL" so just enter the URL there. I think it's Imgur that can sometimes result in broken image links, so you might check with some of the Imgur users to see how they avoid that.

@swcheppes imgur never has broken image links @CathyTea that's tinypic and Photobucket. Imgur is great! What you do is go to HTML Moden when writing a post and insert this Code for a pic:

    <img src="image direct link"/>

That works without putting anything in your media folder :) If you get a free Account on imgur you can organize your images in albums too

@ladygreen of course it's not against the rules :) Welcome! This is a place to hangout and chat with other writers but we also have a Directory of blogs on the first page ^^ people normally create threads in this forum for their stories so you can check some out here or if you want a bigger collection chexk out the "Stories and Legacies Index" in the stories and Legacies forum of the General section (this one is just ts4). ^^

Does anyone have any songs to recommend me when you're about to lose someone? Maybe a bit of an odd request, but music has always been really comforting to me and not all the songs I heard before are helping me right now. I would really appreciate some good music right now!
