Vee is for Vortex (Update 03/28/21)

Vee is for Vortex - A Neighbourhood Rotation

I’m starting a neighbourhood rotation! I’ve been excited about this for a while and now I can finally write about it. I’m going to do this more autonomy-style, watching my sims and their whims and following them around. But on the other hand I also want to fully explore the game. There are so many details I haven’t experienced yet, like opening a store or using career rewards. Normally, I’m also really bad at socialising with other sims, so I’m going to do that, too. I will also build my sims houses on the way so I can get better at building.

Big shoutout to @RachelRosebud and her rotation Gather Ye Rosebuds at this point because her story inspired me to start a rotation it was such a fun read, thanks Rachel!

I hope you’ll join me on this fun journey!

Here is a Table of Contents

This is my starting sim, Sandra Muffin ^^

Does @Jes2G get executive producer rights for her hand in the title? LOL!

This is so fun! What a great chapter, Vee. I love Sandra Muffin. We don't have the "chaotic" trait in US English Sims... what might it be? Clumsy?

I really enjoy your use of the thought bubbles! How do you get those, with print screen?

Back in TS2, they came as part of the in-game camera. I wish we could set an option where we got them.

How cool that she wants to be an astronaut! I'm excited to follow this story! :)

@CathyTea oh really? It's the trait with the trash bag xD Bummer, I forgot it's called slob. I use lightshot (a free program) to get my screenshots and so it capture speech and thought bubbles too :) Glad you like it! I think it's going to be a lot your style

PS: I had that before Jes2G came up with the nickname but she can have executive rights xD My other thought on the title was "July in Summerville" ^^

Oooh! Great name, too! July in Simmerville would also work! LOL!

Vee is for Vortex is so perfect for an astronaut! And.... oh, my! Neighborhood rotation? I can't wait to meet the other families you'll be playing, too!

I'm also going to be super interested in how you handle all the rotation questions, such as aging, when to switch households, and so on...

@ShannonSimsFan is doing a rotation, too, and thinking a lot about those questions. She did a TS2 rotation, so she's looking for ways to transfer those styles to TS4.

OOO exciting! May I ask what Game Options you're using in terms of Aging? Are you turning it off except for Active Household? I find I like this best for neighborhood rotations since it makes it more TS2 style.

I left you a comment on your blog! I love your first post :)

@Rachelrosebud thanks for your comment! Oh my I should give you a shout out because your Rotation inspired me a lot! Will edit that in when I get hold of a PC :)

In Terms of aging I have aging turned on only for the active household I thought thats the sense of a Nr XD and I'm planning to play every household for 1 ingame week but I might adjust to two weeks if one is too Short, we'll see ^^

    @CathyTea

That sounds good. On mine, I really want to be able to make it to gen 5 or 6. So I'm thinking I'll do normal lifespan, aging on only in the active house (like you), and maybe play 3 houses? Maybe 4... I think I'll play until major events, like up to birth, through childhood, and so on, but I haven't figured it all out yet.

I'm also thinking that I won't use cheats, with the exception of Free realestate on, just to get everyone moved in... not sure.

@CathyTea I'm playing on normal lifespan too so I'll have some progression ^^ I'm not sure about how many houses I'll play xD Depends on how many premades spike my interest and what other crazy sims I'll make in CAS :) I'm excited for your rotation! I love reading them :)

I wouldn't turn on aging completely because I'm doing this rotation because I always thought I missed too much in the lives of the other households when playing my legacy ^^

    Chapter 2 is here :)

Sandra gets out in the open and sees a lot of premades!

This is so much fun! Love the story so far!

My main game that I play just for myself is a rotation. I play 4 main houses (but step into other houses now and then). I play with only the active house aging, but when I get to the 4th house, I turn aging on for the whole world. That way, the rest of the neighborhood ages up with me. I try to keep it balanced out. I also use the MC Command Center mod, so it has story progression. The rest of the town gets married and has kids, along with the families in my rotation. It's fun to watch everyone grow up together.

Can't wait to read more of this! I'm so new to reading simlit (up until recently, I'd only read about 5 stories, now I'm branching out!), that I didn't even know there were rotational stories! Such a good idea!

I knew about your new story at this morning when before going to my dentist I checked my mobile :) So I reminded myself now that I have to read it and I just did it ;) It's great idea, July, I love it very much and it resembles me how I played The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 myself (I still have both games on my laptop). I think you'll have a lot of fun writing this story and I'll learn many things from you how to play sims games :p Example, I've never paid my attention to all sims speech bubbles before (I'm not sure I said it right, but I know you'll understand me), but now I started to think it's important, especially if you want to write a story or just understand better your sims :)

I love all the rotation stories I have started reading so far. I also use MCC but I don't use it on played households. I'm trying to figure out how to blacklist clothing items so townies won't wear my amazon challenge cc xD I think I'm getting behind it. MCC is a great mod!
I didn't know you were German! (No accent! :p ) this sounds fun!

I grew up in England so my language doesn't give me away xD It's a bit sad that my game is in German because I can't use as many UI captures s I would like - nobody would get them. I could change the language if I reinstalled, but nope not going there. It's loads of fun to write and play!

I know right? I thought of it straight away xD Sandra is awesome, she is such a cool goofball. I never played a goofball before and it's so fun, she tells funny stories and jokes all the time xD

I still have sims 2 on my laptop too! I loved it :) I hope I can teach myself a few things ^^ I still have a lot of GTW to explore. I really like interpreting speech bubbles, but sometimes they are just too random xD speech bubbles fit well into the @CathyTea style approach of watching and listening to your sims wishes and needs :)

By the way, @Julyvee94, Sandra like some other german names is popular enough in my country, especially in that side of country, where I live :)
I have a lot to explore on all the sims games :D And I so agree with you that MC Command Center is very great mod, one of the best mods to me :) I also need to learn how to use blacklist in dresser, I always freak out when I see some my sims wearing cyber goth face painting :D

Thanks July for the shoutout to my blog. I'm always thrilled when people feel inspired to try out a different way to play their game!

So much fun, Vee! You've got great Sims, and I enjoyed seeing the premades, too! I love Eliza Pancake--I noticed that a lot of Simmers seem to feel about her the way that Nancy in your game felt about her, but she's a fav of mine!

    Looking forward to more! :)

@RachelRosebud You're welcome :) Reading your blog really had me itching to do a rotation and now I'm having so much fun with it I really have to thank you :)

@roseinblack69 I think I figured it out, there are some good examples and explanations on the modthesims site of the mod :)

@CathyTea I don't know why people wouldn't like Eliza :D I really like her. I can't wait to play her and Bob :)
  • roseinblack69roseinblack69 Posts: 4,070 Member
@Julyvee94 I like all sims in game, it's weird that people don't like Eliza :D She is nice and her husband Bob is very lovely :D
Yes, you can get any answer to your question from Deaderpool about MC Command Center in Mod The Sims :)

@Julyvee94 I think you are right opposites attract although such relationships are most difficult in reality :) Do you think Sandra and Don Lothario will become couple in the future? Although there was a picture in previous chapter where I've noticed red haired guy and thought maybe Sandra would like him :D
