Haven't really played much today, trying to fix my game.
Neither brntwaffle's skyrim starry field or Shojoangel's starry field works in my game and I can't figure out why.
Even with my other mods uinstalled.
My generation ten baby became a toddler. I don't use any skin CC - just hair and clothes on occasion (only her hair is CC) - yet I feel like she's adorable. Eh, maybe that's because she's my sim.
@Puddinroy that's a shame. Hopefully someone will post a few builds you can download and enjoy.
@KayeStar she is gorgeous. There two reasons I use custom skins. 1. Because I often see a line around their neck with different coloured skin above and below it. THis seems to be related to various combinations of clothes and hair. 2. Because I want my sims to have a lot of variety in their appearance.
I never use Default skins only Non Defaults. This way no sim in my game (other than babies) can have a skin I didn't specifically choose for them.
EDIT: And the other reason I have lots of skins and love to use them is because I decided to test a skin one day and got instantly addicted to them. I had resisted mods and custom content from June 2009 to about September 2014. But once I got started with custom skins, probably some time in 2015, I was totally hooked on them.

I´ve got a question to your story: you´ve created your story on Stardew Valley characters and you´ve said that the reader doesn´t need to know SDV. So can I interpret the wizzard as the player who plays the Sims?

Furthermore I want to know if you play the game and let the Sims decide what to do or do you use them "just" to tell your story and place them where you want them to be?
^When it comes to writing sim stories, I control my sims completely and use them to tell the story. I'm also mostly in control of them while playing random saves. Sometimes while playing characters from stories, they will do something in game - or the game will throw some event at them - and I have to decide if I want to incorporate it into the story or not. It can be fun. Thanks for asking. I too am curious how others play their games as well. It's amazing to see all the different preferences we have.
When I´ve wrote his story I didn´t know how far I could get with the discription of his bad situation, because this abuse happens to so many (much too many) children and teens and I didn´t want anybody here on the forums feel bad while reading my story, which began as a totally harmless and fun one.
^I understand. I've worried about that too when writing some of my stories, especially my Holland Family one. It's a normal concern to have.
I think you did very well illustrating Travis' struggle with his sexual orientation, as well as the domestic violence. Pat yourself on the back.

Aww, you and your sister playing sims together was just like how hubby and I would play sims together back in the Sims 2 days. I miss those days... He lost interest not long after 3 came out because of all the bugs and his laptop wouldn't run it so he moved on to other games. Minecraft was in Alpha at the time and he bought it for practically nothing and I remember when it went into Beta. That was cool.

Yes, finally Travis is strong enough to stand his ground against his mother, I just would say that this mustn´t be in this way if he wasn´t so alone! He should get help from the other adults of the family to stand up against his mother! I am a bit proud of him that he didn´t hit back, if I think of their history and him discovering that he is stronger than her now....

Ah, I see! I write my story in a completely different way so I am so interested how you or someone else writes their stories! Because if you use the Sims "just" to pose for certain pictures you have already the story in your mind! Just different to me. I play a day of my Sims and see what they came up to, make pictures and let me inspire by the pictures of how my story goes.
The background story now is different for me, because I had to replay some events and take pictures especially for the story... That was a bit hard for me, because I always wanted them to have fun and do what they liked and had to stop me and tell me: girl, just make them do this and that, take pics and leave the save without saving....
Oh, I have to read your Holland story on your webside! I´m just occupied (and awfully challenged ) by your recent story! Have I ever told you that I like comics???

@Karritz Thank you for the explanation. Having skilled sims with relations to use in a future game makes sense. Being left to SP, they may fare a bit better in their jobs, but other than that, they often hardly differ from the unskilled sims around them. Although, if you populate an empty world that way, there aren't any unskilled sims, so I guess that's not noticeable then.

I thought that was pretty common? I've been to Vegas quite a few times, and I never gambled even a single time. It just isn't my thing. Many of my friends had similar thoughts. In order to entice people to gamble, lodging and food were usually good and relatively cheap, compared to other offers. I even had some friends have their wedding there in one of the big hotels, because it was much cheaper than doing it at home. As for me, I was using the rides on the Stratosphere tower, got an "unlimited rides" ticket for the coaster in NY NY, usually made use of the buffet in one hotel I forgot the name of (and it has been torn down since), watched those free battle performances at the Treasure Island, the water plays at the Bellagio, or strolled through fake Venice. At least for a couple of days, it was always entertaining. Also, when I made my big tour of the Utah parks, starting in the east with Arches and Canyonlands and ending in the west with Zion, I had enough of nature after a while and drove the short trip down the road to Vegas for some change of pace.
@AlexaKry Thank you very much. Yeah, I get that with the pink, but my color vision is pretty bad. I think I made a pink formal outfit for her, but I guess I erred on the "garish" side in that case, so I'm not completely happy with it (may take a pic at some point).
Oh, I know what you say about "Loners". Robert-Michel is one, too, and I may get to more of this in a later update.
Yes, looking forward to seeing the life of Travis improve. I don't expect his mother to give up that easily. It's always simple to just pull the "spouse" card in such cases. At least in my case, my father was always on my mother's side, disregarding all circumstances and arguments.

Yep this story is all in my mind and my sims make it all come to life. It's a beautiful thing to see. I have written stories before where I just play my sims, take pics of all that happens, and write the story that way, like you. It's fun to take a break and do it that way every once in a while.

Today my sims were busy. I played on and off during most of the day.
I only managed to get 3 screen shots. It's getting late now - 10 pm.
I've been working on skills, reading books and getting Wilfred and Wendy married. They are both currently wishing to have a party - a bachelor and a bachelorette party. Wilfred just proposed marriage to Wendy and she accepted and I saved and shut down.
I found only 3 members of the household need to learn fishing. They all had 0 fishing skill. I sent them to the pond to fish.
Jack, Mark and Lionel fishing. Lionel is closest to the camera.
I noticed Lionel was cold so I sent him home to fish at the wishing well. I didn't check the other two. They probably were cold too but there is only one wishing well at home so they stayed at the pond. I checked their progress just before I shut down. Lionel was at level 6, Jack at level 5 and Mark at level 4. So more work still needs to be done but it doesn't have to be done before the wedding. I might get them to improve it a bit but there is no hurry. They've been reading recipes. Of course they will still have their fishing books to read once they get their skill to level 7.
Wendy and Wilfred went into Stylist and got their wedding outfits. Wilfred got a new Outer wear outfit too. His red checked shirt and black fingernails were not my idea of suitable outerwear. Maybe I didn't give him a proper makeover when he aged up to Young Adult.
I got a couple of shots of Wendy. She scored jewellery as well as a new dress and some lipstick.
This pair have been best friends for ages. They went on a date to the Ice Lounge tonight and then they went to the Dome in the early morning time. The wedding venue is set up for them. They had a look at it while they were there but I don't think I got any video of it. I am going to have too much to edit by the time they are married. I got a heap of video of them riding the roller coaster and that's going to take ages to edit.
Once Wilfred and Wendy are married I'll send them home to Cake Island and they can move into their new house. I haven't decided where to put them yet. All of the houses in the street where I put the previous married couples are now taken. There are other houses around the world so I'll find something for them.
The next episode will show the makeover of both houses, Wilfred and Wendy's as well as Frank and Felecia's.
Then I'll send Derek and Delores on their vacation. I think I'll send them to Isla Paradiso or maybe Roaring Heights. Haven't decided yet. I don't need them to travel to The Great Southern Land so I won't send them there. Once they've moved out of the Main Household I'll probably make the final 3 imaginary friends real and send them to the Great Southern Land. I might get Dave and Demetria married before I do that though. I'll have to work out the logistics.
I don't want to overload either household. I don't think the two Imaginary Friends made real in the Great Southern Land will be ready to move out by the time Wendy and Wilfred are ready to go home so there won't be room in that house until after Coby travels to the Great Southern Land to marry Clarice and returns to Cake Island with the pair of Imaginary Friends who are staying there. All four of them will then move out to their new homes in Cake Island.
Then Sharonda goes to the Great Southern Land to meet and marry Stan. So I might put off making the final 3 imaginary friends real until after there is more room in the Great Southern Land and either Coby or Sharonda can travel with the Imaginary Friends. When Sharonda and Stan have returned to Cake Island and moved out Megan or Latoya could take the final three to The Great Southern Land when Megan goes there to marry Mark and Latoya goes to marry Lionel. Which will leave only Constance, Joni and Kendall to meet Chris, Jack and Karen. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end.
Once they are all married and safely in their own homes in Cake Island and Gerry is alone in the main house the babies will start arriving. With 15 couples having babies, they should only need to have 2 babies each to get the 30 grandchildren. Then I think Gerry has to have another child somehow to get the badge to trigger. Only time will tell if it all happens as hoped.

Botan Nara will turn 29 this month. His relations with his family were stabilized as he seems to have surpassed his fascination of Norma Dahl. Now a family man. Again, a leading member of the community although not as powerful as he was in Nara Fields.
Norma Dahl will turn 20 this month. She never had the intention to destroy the Nara family, she is just a romantic nature, can hardly turn down a little flirt. After it was clear Botan lost interest, she turned her attention towards Terry. She has recently found out that he is still interested in Mussete Mercier and that may cool down their relations. Norma socialized a bit with the builders. Might find love there, who knows.
Magdalena Mercier left Simon about 6 AM that morning. He will stay in the house. He wants her so much. He even wants her to marry. The first thing he did was getting a crib, hoping she will bring their baby next time.
The construction workers still the main source of income in River fashion house, in this case it is carpenter Aaron Collazo getting a new shirt.
Engineer Andy Mclain have found that some of the fasteners, holding the entire tower together are too weak, the “Ent” smelting factory have to deliver thousands of new pieces. The construction will be delayed. It can’t be finished before wintertime.

Armel Mercier may have sensed that his youngest daughter and thereby his grandchild might move out. In any case, for the first time he chose to carry Pierre around the village. Must have been tough on the old man, normally using a walking stick.
Anders and Elea don’t like living in a mess, always very keen on getting the laundry done.
Marble Beach-Gentry is still the number one collector in town, especially her “home zoo” is still extensive, whereas she hasn’t collected many gems lately.
Oh no, Mussete Mercier is heading directly for Jane Harper Tattoo Salon. Inside Jane is relaxing in a soft sofa chair. Immediately Mussete starts an argument.
As we have seen before, Jane is not the kind of woman you can shame without consequences. Jane sends an open hand to her cheek, shouting “take this and now leave my shop”.

I don´t think there is any sort of rubberband-effect. Not any that I have noticed in any case. It does affect animations however. A tall sim and a shorter sim can´t really get the kissing anims right.

Haven't played much today, but maybe I give a few glimpses in some older developments of the Gao family (comments come later ).
Yes, Prudi and her young co-worker got along nicely. The creator of the world gave her "Above Reproach" as her sole LTR, and it worked very well for her, as she was free to do what she wanted without anyone ever saying a bad word about it. So yes, Jonathon Steed (I always had to laugh at the name, given the role he plays here) and Prudi had some great time.
Nelly also aged up to child, and she sometimes (though rarely) practiced some ballet moves in the hallway autonomously.
Unlike Marvin, she had an IF doll, and she quickly managed to get that one alive. The two were inseparable, even as children (Victor, the IF, didn't get along with Marvin very well though ).
These two rooms were empty in their original states, and I had made one for the kids and one for Robert-Michel out of them. As a writer, he needed his solitude. Prudi's room was the size of both of these together, btw.

Regarding Robert-Michel, I was thinking of the time after Prudi, as it was kind of obvious that this would come to an end soon. I had switched on SP in the meanwhile, so the market was wiped clean. Except the neighbors' son, Zepher. He was a loner and a bookworm, like Robert-Michel. What could possibly go wrong here (*sigh*)?
The woman behind them is Claudette Palefau (or whatever her name was at that time), the on-again, off-again girlfriend of Henry II., occasional wife of different other residents and, at one point much later when I left Robert-Michel to SP, also his girlfriend.
Zepher was the only son of Robert and Louis Stevenson, the gay couple next door. I found the this wordplay by the world creator quite funny, btw., given Robert Louis Stevenson was the author of books like Treasure Island, and he lived and died on Samoa during his last years. So here we have Zepher's parents, Louis and Robert.
You probably already got it, but this was the most boring relationship that I had in any of my games, ever. Zepher would at best be described as some kind of background decoration, just a decoration that moves and sometimes walks to the fridge to take something out.
The difference to Robert-Michel was that I had played Robert-Michel for that long that he had maxed his charisma by now, and he actually did quite a few autonomous social interactions at this point.
Zepher just was.
Anyway, Marvin became a teen soon.
Nelly and her IF followed four days later.
They turned out quite well, here with Marvin in the front.

Something very entertaining (funny) just happened in my 30 Grandchildren game. It won't be in the video but - Wilfred wants to throw a bachelor party. I was getting Varg's Tavern ready and didn't take any notice of where he was. I left him at the Dome. Well I clicked on his phone and the option to throw a party was greyed out - the excuse was 'You can't throw a party here'. So I checked where he was. He was using the all in one bathroom.

@KayeStar she is gorgeous. There two reasons I use custom skins. 1. Because I often see a line around their neck with different coloured skin above and below it. THis seems to be related to various combinations of clothes and hair. 2. Because I want my sims to have a lot of variety in their appearance.
I never use Default skins only Non Defaults. This way no sim in my game (other than babies) can have a skin I didn't specifically choose for them.
EDIT: And the other reason I have lots of skins and love to use them is because I decided to test a skin one day and got instantly addicted to them. I had resisted mods and custom content from June 2009 to about September 2014. But once I got started with custom skins, probably some time in 2015, I was totally hooked on them.

I´ve downloaded both and try it out on my Sims. I don´t know if they´ll fit, because my Sims have very big eyes, too big for "real humans" so I don´t know if the contacts fit with their hugh eyes...

Yes, finally Travis is strong enough to stand his ground against his mother, I just would say that this mustn´t be in this way if he wasn´t so alone! He should get help from the other adults of the family to stand up against his mother! I am a bit proud of him that he didn´t hit back, if I think of their history and him discovering that he is stronger than her now....

Ah, I see! I write my story in a completely different way so I am so interested how you or someone else writes their stories! Because if you use the Sims "just" to pose for certain pictures you have already the story in your mind! Just different to me. I play a day of my Sims and see what they came up to, make pictures and let me inspire by the pictures of how my story goes.
The background story now is different for me, because I had to replay some events and take pictures especially for the story... That was a bit hard for me, because I always wanted them to have fun and do what they liked and had to stop me and tell me: girl, just make them do this and that, take pics and leave the save without saving....

@Karritz Thank you for the explanation. Having skilled sims with relations to use in a future game makes sense. Being left to SP, they may fare a bit better in their jobs, but other than that, they often hardly differ from the unskilled sims around them. Although, if you populate an empty world that way, there aren't any unskilled sims, so I guess that's not noticeable then.

@emorrill Thank you. You asked bekkasan this: I thought that was pretty common? I've been to Vegas quite a few times, and I never gambled even a single time. It just isn't my thing. Many of my friends had similar thoughts. In order to entice people to gamble, lodging and food were usually good and relatively cheap, compared to other offers. I even had some friends have their wedding there in one of the big hotels, because it was much cheaper than doing it at home. As for me, I was using the rides on the Stratosphere tower, got an "unlimited rides" ticket for the coaster in NY NY, usually made use of the buffet in one hotel I forgot the name of (and it has been torn down since), watched those free battle performances at the Treasure Island, the water plays at the Bellagio, or strolled through fake Venice. At least for a couple of days, it was always entertaining. Also, when I made my big tour of the Utah parks, starting in the east with Arches and Canyonlands and ending in the west with Zion, I had enough of nature after a while and drove the short trip down the road to Vegas for some change of pace.
@AlexaKry Thank you very much. Yeah, I get that with the pink, but my color vision is pretty bad. I think I made a pink formal outfit for her, but I guess I erred on the "garish" side in that case, so I'm not completely happy with it (may take a pic at some point).

Yes, looking forward to seeing the life of Travis improve. I don't expect his mother to give up that easily. It's always simple to just pull the "spouse" card in such cases. At least in my case, my father was always on my mother's side, disregarding all circumstances and arguments.

In order to take some pressure off Robert-Michel, I had Prudi invite one of her co-workers over.
They got along nicely. And given he was technically "homeless", he sometimes stayed 5 days in a row with a single invitation.

I've been working on skills, reading books and getting Wilfred and Wendy married. They are both currently wishing to have a party - a bachelor and a bachelorette party. Wilfred just proposed marriage to Wendy and she accepted and I saved and shut down.
I found only 3 members of the household need to learn fishing. They all had 0 fishing skill. I sent them to the pond to fish.
Jack, Mark and Lionel fishing. Lionel is closest to the camera.
I noticed Lionel was cold so I sent him home to fish at the wishing well. I didn't check the other two. They probably were cold too but there is only one wishing well at home so they stayed at the pond. I checked their progress just before I shut down. Lionel was at level 6, Jack at level 5 and Mark at level 4. So more work still needs to be done but it doesn't have to be done before the wedding. I might get them to improve it a bit but there is no hurry. They've been reading recipes. Of course they will still have their fishing books to read once they get their skill to level 7.
Wendy and Wilfred went into Stylist and got their wedding outfits. Wilfred got a new Outer wear outfit too. His red checked shirt and black fingernails were not my idea of suitable outerwear. Maybe I didn't give him a proper makeover when he aged up to Young Adult.
I got a couple of shots of Wendy. She scored jewellery as well as a new dress and some lipstick.
This pair have been best friends for ages. They went on a date to the Ice Lounge tonight and then they went to the Dome in the early morning time. The wedding venue is set up for them. They had a look at it while they were there but I don't think I got any video of it. I am going to have too much to edit by the time they are married. I got a heap of video of them riding the roller coaster and that's going to take ages to edit.
Once Wilfred and Wendy are married I'll send them home to Cake Island and they can move into their new house. I haven't decided where to put them yet. All of the houses in the street where I put the previous married couples are now taken. There are other houses around the world so I'll find something for them.
The next episode will show the makeover of both houses, Wilfred and Wendy's as well as Frank and Felecia's.
Then I'll send Derek and Delores on their vacation. I think I'll send them to Isla Paradiso or maybe Roaring Heights. Haven't decided yet. I don't need them to travel to The Great Southern Land so I won't send them there. Once they've moved out of the Main Household I'll probably make the final 3 imaginary friends real and send them to the Great Southern Land. I might get Dave and Demetria married before I do that though. I'll have to work out the logistics.
I don't want to overload either household. I don't think the two Imaginary Friends made real in the Great Southern Land will be ready to move out by the time Wendy and Wilfred are ready to go home so there won't be room in that house until after Coby travels to the Great Southern Land to marry Clarice and returns to Cake Island with the pair of Imaginary Friends who are staying there. All four of them will then move out to their new homes in Cake Island.
Then Sharonda goes to the Great Southern Land to meet and marry Stan. So I might put off making the final 3 imaginary friends real until after there is more room in the Great Southern Land and either Coby or Sharonda can travel with the Imaginary Friends. When Sharonda and Stan have returned to Cake Island and moved out Megan or Latoya could take the final three to The Great Southern Land when Megan goes there to marry Mark and Latoya goes to marry Lionel. Which will leave only Constance, Joni and Kendall to meet Chris, Jack and Karen. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end.
Once they are all married and safely in their own homes in Cake Island and Gerry is alone in the main house the babies will start arriving. With 15 couples having babies, they should only need to have 2 babies each to get the 30 grandchildren. Then I think Gerry has to have another child somehow to get the badge to trigger. Only time will tell if it all happens as hoped.

Botan Nara will turn 29 this month. His relations with his family were stabilized as he seems to have surpassed his fascination of Norma Dahl. Now a family man. Again, a leading member of the community although not as powerful as he was in Nara Fields.
Norma Dahl will turn 20 this month. She never had the intention to destroy the Nara family, she is just a romantic nature, can hardly turn down a little flirt. After it was clear Botan lost interest, she turned her attention towards Terry. She has recently found out that he is still interested in Mussete Mercier and that may cool down their relations. Norma socialized a bit with the builders. Might find love there, who knows.
Magdalena Mercier left Simon about 6 AM that morning. He will stay in the house. He wants her so much. He even wants her to marry. The first thing he did was getting a crib, hoping she will bring their baby next time.

I don´t think there is any sort of rubberband-effect. Not any that I have noticed in any case. It does affect animations however. A tall sim and a shorter sim can´t really get the kissing anims right.

Yes, Prudi and her young co-worker got along nicely. The creator of the world gave her "Above Reproach" as her sole LTR, and it worked very well for her, as she was free to do what she wanted without anyone ever saying a bad word about it. So yes, Jonathon Steed (I always had to laugh at the name, given the role he plays here) and Prudi had some great time.
Nelly also aged up to child, and she sometimes (though rarely) practiced some ballet moves in the hallway autonomously.
Unlike Marvin, she had an IF doll, and she quickly managed to get that one alive. The two were inseparable, even as children (Victor, the IF, didn't get along with Marvin very well though
These two rooms were empty in their original states, and I had made one for the kids and one for Robert-Michel out of them. As a writer, he needed his solitude. Prudi's room was the size of both of these together, btw.
The woman behind them is Claudette Palefau (or whatever her name was at that time), the on-again, off-again girlfriend of Henry II., occasional wife of different other residents and, at one point much later when I left Robert-Michel to SP, also his girlfriend.
Zepher was the only son of Robert and Louis Stevenson, the gay couple next door. I found the this wordplay by the world creator quite funny, btw., given Robert Louis Stevenson was the author of books like Treasure Island, and he lived and died on Samoa during his last years. So here we have Zepher's parents, Louis and Robert.
You probably already got it, but this was the most boring relationship that I had in any of my games, ever. Zepher would at best be described as some kind of background decoration, just a decoration that moves and sometimes walks to the fridge to take something out.
The difference to Robert-Michel was that I had played Robert-Michel for that long that he had maxed his charisma by now, and he actually did quite a few autonomous social interactions at this point.
Zepher just was.
Anyway, Marvin became a teen soon.
