I'm enjoying all the sounds coming from this place!
So this time I thought I'd pick a random track that I've never heard before. This is what I often do whenever there's a jukebox around.
"Hey that song doesn't look familiar. Let's play it-" *inserts coin* "-and see who stays and who runs."
Now we don't want anyone to run from here!
Although I find my random track to be a pretty good ear snack for car cruisin' (or bar boozin') or werebeast manifestin'. https://youtu.be/Ij4UHCk8T_k

I just love that this bar has music now. Vampires can dance in Sims 4 and also weep for their lost humanity, so here's a dramatic ballad from Dead Can Dance:
(fyi, she is the singer who sang the Gladiator soundtracks in case anyone wonders)

I love Dead Can Dance. You know Lisa Gerrard sometimes sings in glossolalia, which is the technical term for 'talking in tongues'. What she is singing in certain pieces isn't actually translatable in any language, it's just inspired art in the form of song. They were first established in my now home city of Melbourne as well.
@GrimlyFiendish I've long admired that form of vocal art, and Lisa Gerrard won my heart entirely quite some years ago with her gorgeous "Become." Her music belongs in this thread because it's absolutely magical. I can imagine more than one of my spellcasters being inspired to focus and draw deeply from their own personal source of power while listening to this stuff.
I love that this topic now has it's own spotify list.
Lisa Gerrard has been a favorite singer of mine since I was a teenager. Her voice is incredible and I love how she just makes up her own language and words to express herself. I always wanted to travel to Australia and see one of her concerts but never got the chance.
I've just mixed myself up a perfectly delightful little cocktail called a 'Ping Pong' courtesy of Jaques Straub all the way back in 1913*, I'm sure some us here are old enough to remember the death throws of the Edwardian summer.
I'd stay and tend bar but I'm busy building a new house for some newly spawned Vampires. I'll mix up a round for everyone before I take my leave though (I'll have to double check forum rules before I actually write out any recipes).
(*no, really, historical drink recipes and cooking are a hobby of mine).

@GrimlyFiendish What a fascinating hobby! Please do share your specialty when you have time. Your host would love to take a break and enjoy your concoctions. It’s not often I’m able to sit on the other side of the bar.
@cyncie I would be very happy to, I miss bartending, I used to be so good at it. Tonight's offering will consist of a prohibition cocktail by the name of "12 Mile Limit", an early 1920s Chatreuse and Gin forward little number called a 'Last Word', and a delightful little Apple Brandy based drink known as a 'Depth Bomb' from 1914. All finished off with a lovely digestif of Absinthe, Blanc this evening I think will work (I have some more Verte on the way)

@GrimlyFiendish delightful! I have a slight affinity for 1950s atomic era beverages myself, including the kitschy tiki ones. I do not collect the mugs, but find them interesting. They would fit right in, here at The Blue Moon.
I would love to see some historical recipes. I am not a very skilled cook, but I like to try a new recipe once in a while.
And now, here's a song for that spellcaster ... Maybe staying late at the academy, trying to create their healing potions, trying to reach that next rank, maybe they drew too much magic power or botched the potion recipe and then fell down beside the cauldron, feeling exhausted and defeated. This beautiful, emotional ballad reminds you, "you can pick it all up and start again ... You could still be what you want to." Don't despair. Don't give up.

Well I'm a little short on rum to be able to do a proper Zombie, but I could probably rustle up a Mai Tai. And for our more hirsute guests I can make a nice little Gin, Creme de Violette and Lemon number called, appropriately enough, a 'Blue Moon'.

Tu'hu is the oldest recipe I've done (it's a reconstruction of a 4000 year old recipe written down on the famous 'Yale Tablets'). It's very tasty, depending on how much you like beetroot.
Greetings travelers! As Tuesday is Mardi Gras in the Un-sim world, I am interested in hosting a celebration here at The Blue Moon. I’m certain we can manage some appropriate beverages and food. What else should we do to make the day festive?

Sounds intriguing... I would like to know more about these non-sim traditions.
Mardi Gras in New Orleans you say? Say no more, I have just the drink for such an occasion (one that I'm sure some of our more 'Elder' vamps might even remember first hand). St Charles Punch: earliest iteration, according to local historical sources, allegedly dates to circa 1836. It is essentially the same as the recipe that was first published in Jerry Thomas's famous 'Bon Vivant's Guide' in 1862, with the omission of the soda water or champagne options. Let me just grab my ingredients, let's see I'll need some Port, a good Cognac or Brandy, some freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar syrup and plenty of ice for a stirred drink.
Of course you also can't go past the classic Vieux Carre, dating to the 1930s and translating to 'French Quarter' it is a nice little strong, alcohol forward number. Let's me check my cocktail supplies...ah yes, I have the ingredients at hand, what luck. Let me just grab some rye whiskey, cognac, a nice sweet vermouth (quality is important here), some Benedictine liqueur, and now I do have angostura bitters but not peychaud's - not to worry, orange bitters will do in a pinch.
And for those who are in the mood for something a bit more neon-esque and dessert feeling in style, we have a Grasshopper. Created circa 1918 at the Tujague's bar in New Orleans, the original recipe calls for Creme De Menthe (green preferably, but if blanc is all that's available there's always food colouring), creme de cacao blanc, and cream.

Parthian Chicken (circa 100 ad) is really nice and one of the easier recipes to make.
