Also just gonna pop in to add, I feel like a lot of people think TS5 is gonna magically fix upon TS4's issues and be the perfect game which I really doubt. The Sims 4 was terrible when it first came out and it's taken 6 years for it to be a good game and even now it still has its faults. It's still gonna be under EA aswell so rushed out packs with quantity over quality will still very much be a thing

I agree with this but I do think that a lot of TS4's biggest flaws comes from the subpar engine they're working with. I hope and think that TS5 will be built differently, that they will have learned from the flop that was TS4's release and avoid the type of major last-minute changes that basically put them in this situation in the first place. Time will tell of course, but if TS5 doesn't take advantage of modern technology this time around, then we know beyond any reasonable doubt that, no, TS franchise means nothing to EA.
And I say this even though I like TS4. I do, but I want/need the next game to be a lot better from the get-go or my sims journey will end with 4.
TS4 was such a disappoint at launch that I would not want to see TS5 start in the same way. A base game should have enough gameplay and content to be entertaining in itself without the necessity of packs to make it playable.
I did not like the direction the developers decided on for TS4 and would want more forethought and consultation with players before EA even considers a TS5. There is also the additional problem of trying to please two different groups of simmers, those left behind with TS3 and those who came new to the game at TS4. Both groups have different experiences and expectations and it will not be easy for EA to resolve this if it wants to keep it's existing customer base.
So it does not seem unreasonable to ask EA to go on churning out packs for TS4 for those that want and enjoy them while mulling over the future of the franchise. Reproducing the same old same old will not do. Both groups of simmers want and expect something new and exciting with TS5 but I feel they will want it with as much care and consideration shown to the iterations before TS4. This takes time to do well and EA can take as long as it wants.

I'm enthusiast about the upcoming packs, I want to see how far The Sims Studio will go with The Sims 4 for the next 5-6 years.
Sims 4 has already been around for 6 years, and look at how half-baked the game still is... I don't think EA wants to keep Sims 4 going on and on and on for 5-6 or more years. If it did, people would of gotten really sick and tired of Sims 4,and they would of moved on to other non-Sims games.
Let Sims 4 go on until late 2020/early 2021. Then let EA give us Sims 5. So many people are eager to move on from Sims 4 already.
It's nice to see there are a lot of people who are not ready yet.
Yeah true. In the Sims 4 forums this is what you'll see. It was like that during the Sims 3 era too. No matter what you wish a new game is inevitable to happen.
Now the question is how many of us will continue to play TS4 when The Sims 5 will be released.
If TS5 basegame is feature rich and has a strong game engine such as the Unreal Engine, if it has all the content it should have at basegame with none missing, then many of those who say they'll stick to TS4 will drop it for TS5. I've had a great time with TS3 and it has brought me so much joy, and still does at the moment, but if TS5 is amazing - and could very well be with the Unreal Engine as its game engine - then I can quite easily transition from TS3 to TS5, like I did from TS1 to TS2 and from TS2 to TS3.
Remember the transition from The Sims 2 to The Sims 3? If the game is great and offers something new people will move on, guaranteed. Just take a look in the past and you will see this exact thing happening every time. People complaining and complaining and once the game is out everyone abandons ship.
I moved to The Sims 3 in 2011 when SimGuruCopeland arrived and started to make interesting Store content.
EP01 World Adventures, EP02 Ambitions, EP03 Late Night, EP04 Generations and EP05 Pets didn't seduce me because I'm not a fan of these themes.
The things began to be more interesting with EP06 Showtime and the other EPs.
If the TS5 first packs are recycled themes, it will be less exciting than new themes.
I need a lot of new content before deciding to move forward.

This is why it would be great if they added some of those recycled concepts in the base game or brought something fresh to the table.

The 2 to 3 transition was certainly not smooth. There were a lot of people who were upset about Sims 3 on release because of the features that it abandoned and the shock of an empty base game. There wasn't much to do. There was a fair share of angry threads for a while.
Same thing is going to happen when Sims 5 comes out. Every player who loves a previous game is going to be checking off their list of favorite features, and if any of those features are changed or missing, there's going to be a lot of complaining. It's inevitable.
That's probably why EA focuses on getting the next generation of new players. Some of their hiring ads recently even specified "familiarity with Gen Z and trends" and "knowledge of previous Sims games not necessary". They are always looking forward, not back.

The game sold very well and got really good reviews which is everything the team would have wanted. Also they managed to get a lot more people on the Sims 3 after a few expansions.
There are always going to be stubborn players.
But the Sims 3 Base game offered so much in its first stages. It had features never seen before in a base game. This is why it worked.

If you ask me, I would not have The Sims 5 yet because we need to add missing content to The Sims 4. We want Vehicles with Garages, Improved Babies with Strollers, Casinos, Additional world, Create a World, NPC Police & Burglar, Colorwheel for CAS & Build Mode.

You're not going to get some of that in Sims 4...especially CAW and colorwheel. Those are 100% not happening.

Exactly, also why spend money and time on a 6 year old game when they can work on putting these features in The Sims 5.

Show me where it says that.
It was in an ad someone posted from, I believe, it was some time last year or earlier this year? I'm sorry, I can't recall exactly. I think I saw it in the General Discussion section but, again, I'm not sure. People post every time Maxis hires so there's several of them from the last couple of years buried in these forums, so I'm not sure if I can find it (or really care to, honestly.) I know that it specified it was for a new Sims title in the ad. There was debate as to whether it was for 4 (an expansion or similar) or 5. The information is somewhere buried on the Forums. But, I remember those statements stood out to me and I was surprised people weren't talking about it more.
That's why I don't have huge expectations or excitement for Sims 5. Not because I don't want a new, good game, but because I don't think it's going to be similar to the early games. It will be some other "new, innovative" invention that's going to be whatever EA wants it to be. Like a modern, trendy, Gen Z idealist simulator, made specifically to grab the attention of newer, younger players.
If it does end up like the earlier games, but newer, with additional tweaks that I really like, I might get excited for it. But I truly don't expect it to so I'm grounding my expectations now.

The base game might have sold well, but that doesn't mean players were happy with it. I remember there was a divide. It's what drove me to the forums for the first time. I hated the base game and there were many threads from others who did too. I didn't post back then, but I was reading them and they helped give me some validation and realization that Sims 3 wasn't for everyone and that's perfectly okay.
Some people stuck with it, some didn't. Some came back later after some patches and EPs changed things enough for their liking. It also gained a lot of new players. I'm not denying it was successful, it was. But it did initially change and remove some features from Sims 2, and that did make a fair share of players unhappy with it. Sims 3 also had a rough "end", with all the crashing and bugs and corruption left in it when it was abandoned. (Lucky for players there were modders who took up the reins to fix it.)
The point is, there will always be a loss of players with a new base game. There will also always be new players who have nothing to compare it to and will love it for what it is and carry it forward. There will always be players who don't look that deep and just enjoy each game for what it is. Both Sims 3 and Sims 4 have proven that.
So I think that Sims 5 is likely to be successful eventually however it turns out, despite complaints, regardless of whichever features it adds or removes or who it caters to, and whether people are ready to move forward or not.
