I'm enthusiast about the upcoming packs, I want to see how far The Sims Studio will go with The Sims 4 for the next 5-6 years.

I definitely think the Sims 4 still has potential that the team should tap into before moving on to creating the Sims 5. For example, adding story progression would give so much more meaning to the gameplay. More meaningful relationships and actions that end up having consequences (I suppose a revamp of the memory system) would also be great add-ins! There's still time to fix the game, and I hope that our concerns will be heard and acknowledged.

On a positive note, I'm excited for the next patch update! Alt-placing windows and doors is a dream come true :)

Wanted more for the Sims3. Sims4 is missing so much that was in Sims3 that I don't think it will ever be in there because they piecemill it out when they use to put it in together like supernatural and pets for instance. There are tons of things missing and that could be added to Sims4. I am a total Sims3 game lover, however, I will admit that I play Sims 4 more than I use to since it they have added to it.

If they added to the Sims4 farm Ep that focused on real farm work, equipment, and real farm producing animals like chickens, cows, goats, pigs, cruise holiday, winter holiday place, own your own resort, wedding planner/dresses/stuff, career: housebuilding/interior designer/real babysitter& nanny jobs, houseboats, underwater SimLantis, Afterlife(as in survey) combined with dangerous/wills/goth stuff/more Grim interactions/Grim house/funerals, Xlarge fish tank from Sims1? that sims can swim in and have fish in(update fish aquariums), casinoes, more workout equipment(large ball/stepper/mini trampoline/ski machine, a crapload of playground equipment such as riders galore for toddlers/merry-go-round/ect., Cars(all types including antique/4 wheeler/tricycle for toddlers/toddler peddle vehicles/sidebysides/ect.), campers(variety), more toys for kids such as a baby doll for girls/legos/dress up table/more dinosaurs/ect. and freed infants with their own clothes and stuff and added more toddler stuff with the infants such as passies(round & square)/playpen/playmat/walker/sling/ stroller/baby swing/baby bed/ect. then, it would go a tremendous way towards rounding out this game.

Sims5; no. As far as I am concerned, if they don't bring back open world, there is no use making a Sims5 because no matter what it will be a Sims4 rehash. There won't be any differences. Not sure what simmers requesting Sims2 rehash want differently than what is in Sims4(I didn't play it, so I don't see what the difference is? No milestones to meet? Stuff can be added to the Sims4, but I mean what real actions did the Sims2 have that the others don't?). For me, it will be open world. I love some Sims4 stuff and they did add some improvements beyond what Sims3 has like being able to easily move in CAS, easy removal of accessories in CAS, being able to CAS townies/other sims easily, the build part/adding more than one room/property to a place. The biggest minus besides closed worlds in Sims4 for me is not being able to make Sims in CAS automatically into supernaturals. In Sims3, you picked the sim you wanted and you could make it any supernatural you wanted with an easy click. Huge jump down in the Sims4 only being able to create new ones/ not able to play the way I want or be in control. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to make the sim I want a supernatural. It should be as easy as the click in the Sims3.

A perfect Sims5 for me would be Sims 3 open world(would play differently with better engine/no 32 bit system hold backs) with Sims4 improvements, and whatever simmers found special about Sims2.

    No open world; then no.

I do not understand why people are waiting for The Sims 5. In my opinion next generation do has not any sense. The Sims 4 can be updateing because the game has constant internet connection. Due to that any improvement can be realised. If EA will realise The Sims 5 I guess that it will be the last generation which will bury Maxis and The Sims series. Why? People do not want buy poor and expensive basegame and a lot of the same expansions again. Below you can see expansions for every generation which will appear in TS5 if Maxis do that (with less content probably).

    University - TS2, TS3, TS4
    Business/Work - TS2, TS3, TS4
Nightlife - TS1 (Hot Date), TS2 (Nightlife), TS3 (Late Night), TS4 (Get Together + Dine Out)
    Seasons - TS2, TS3, TS4
    Pets - TS1, TS2, TS3, TS4 (+Stuff Pack)
Fame - TS1, TS3, TS4 - in TS1 we have Superstar expansion, the same content in TS4 we can find in Get Famous, Spa Day and some stuff packs
    Vacation - TS1, TS2, TS3, TS4 (as Game packs at the moment)
    Supernaturals - TS1, TS2, TS3, TS4 (again in several packs)
    Apartments - TS2, TS3, TS4
    Generations - TS3, TS4

Small stuff packs - TS2, TS3, TS4 (less and less content in packs in newer The Sims.

Sorry but I'm out. Maxis can not fix bugs in TS4 from months so how can they create good TS5?

I don't want to start all over again! I would buy TS5 after Seasons, Pets, and something similar to Get Together.

After spending a lot of money in The Sims 2, The Sims 3, TS3 Store and The Sims 4, I don't plan to pay forever for the same themes.

It's like to purchase the new iPhone every year, it's a waste of money when the old ones still work very well.

There's been a lot of rumors going around about the Sims 5, lots of people saying that work has already been started on the next generation game or work will be started on it soon. There's a lot of debate on whether people actually want the Sims 5 yet though or whether we'd prefer the Sims 4 to carry on for the upcoming years so I wanted to see what opinion is on these forums!
Do you want a Sims 5 game in the next few years (yes on poll) or would you rather we stick to the sims 4 for now? (no on poll)

No I want a lot of missing content for The Sims 4.

I'm not willing to fork out $1000 dollars for yet another Sims series.

I have Sims 2, Sims 3, and Sims 4. Those three games represent at least $2500+ of my hard earned money over the years.... Enough is enough. No more buying games that require additional money to buy expansions, add-ons, etc just to make it playable. Not to mention the fact that it takes 5 years just to get some of the most basic content assets, play options, and bug fixes? No thank you.

I'll stick with what I've got already and enjoy them all for many years to come. Full stop.

I'm glad the Sims has competition but I'm not seeing anything special. All they have is a CAS, and screenshots. I've heard nothing about what kind of gameplay they intend and it sounds like they're focusing very tightly on the building rather than gameplay.

I agree with that about cell phones. Save the world from plastic, stop buying a new gadget every year. But after twenty years of paying for the same themes it might dawn on all of us we need to convince EA/Maxis simple weather and simple pets should be in a base and if they want to build extreme weather and exotic pets in later EPs then ok. I think we have given them enough billions that they should be able to be greatful to their public and do these small favors for them.

My wallet is not ready to start the Sims process over again.

Also, I’m just not of the mind that we have any reason to believe that TS5 will be much of an improvement over TS4.

I really don't want the game at the moment simply because I'm so used to and in love with the sims 4 graphics, and they should just add more content to that instead of developing an entirely new game. I've also seen speculations around the graphics and they are not good at all, they look wayy to realistic and it doesn't really suit me.

PC Magazine has the demo of the Unreal engine that will be on the PS 5 so EA/Maxis will have all the power of that engine to make Sims 5 on, if they are doing so. Apparently the PS 5 is due before the end of 2020.

    https://uk.pcmag.com/video-game-consoles/126959/unreal-engine-5-demo-shows-what-next-gen-video-game-consoles-will-be-able-to-do

The Launch of the PS 5might be at the end of this week if the rumours are right.

I really enjoy the Sims 4 and since I'm a relatively new simmer I haven't gotten to experience the whole game and I am still growing my collection of packs. I think instead of starting over with something that would need so many updates for it to even be able to improve beyond sims 4, they should continue adding new packs and concepts to the game. I mean - Eco Lifestyle!? It's such a fun creative pack, and I think it would be great to watch them keep adding things instead of having to re-add what we already have. I personally really enjoy the sims 4 and think that instead of starting over, they should continue to add and fix the game. (imo)

I don't see how it could be any different from TS4 at this point. I'd rather they give us the things we've been asking for since the release of TS4 instead of the same game (more than likely) with the addition of interactive online gameplay (which makes no sense as this game is not a group activity).

I dream about TS5, lol. Where I have the personality of TS2 Sims. More than three trait slots and my Sims do more than just paint, jog and write. Where I know why my Sim is attracted to a Sim. Where cars are a reality. Where open world isn't overwhelming me or my machine and sometimes, I can send one or two Sims 'offworld' because I have such a large household of twelve or so living in the same house. lol Need to get rid of a few of them for a short period of time. I dream of a game where if I want to tear down an ugly background (no offense Maxis) I can. Or if I want to remove the ten thousand pink trees I can. I dream of a game where little kids are little kids. They behave as little kids. They don't indulge in adult activites like sitting around with adults dicussing whatever all day long but would rather be outside building forts and playing swords with sticks and boxes as forts and trash can lids as shields. Where their imagination flows. I dream of a TS5 where no, a stranger can't marry off my Sim to the ogre, and or cull my Sim and or change my house design. No multiplayer! lol
I dream of a game where if I want the world to be dark, dreary, over run with vermin, vandalism, crime and cops I can play that. Or if I want Mary Poppins I can play that with butterflies, sunshine beams and rainbows. I dream of a game where my Sims remember why they were arguing the day before. I dream of a game where I don't get lectured about trash, crime, and or Sim death and I choose what happens but because of my choices my Sims feel the pain. lol I don't want to play Disney.
I dream of a game where if grandma dies my Sim can have a proper funeral, respect of the dead. And bothering the dead doesn't result in a ghost who wants to cook dinner and has to go pee, but a ghost who is angry my Sim disturbed their rest.
I dream of a game where it is so deep my Sims remember that little kid who was living down the street a few years ago and is now a horrible Mayor or pulled their hair back in grade school. Memories matter to me.
If they don't return to the depth of personality and memories of TS2 and the openess of TS3 and the many hundreds of tratis of TS3 that mean more than a buff this time and or text on the screen (daredevil shower, useless) then I won't be onboard for TS5. However, I would bet that would make them happy to see some of us who remember and know the greatness they can produce is a thing of the past and would probably be happy we are no longer there to critque them and or remind them of the greatness they used to have when it came to game building.
Adding another pack to TS4 having to do with current topics such as eco living and or whatever else is a fad these days, isn't my idea of depth nor great gameplay. I don't think five more years of that sort of gameplay is something I would want to see over and over until their five year deadline ends. Bring on TS5 already, let us make up our minds early so we won't be here to needle them about bad choices again. They will be happier and so will we to get it all out of the way and to move on. Stop the carrot dangling and let the people see the game and decide early that no it's not what we had hoped so we go back to wherever and or whatever and let them have at it.

People say they don't want to start all over with purchasing content, so the answer is to ask EAxis for a game that already comes with this content, as well as features we didn't previously have. If they don't do that, and just hand us another shell of a base game then we simply don't buy it, especially if they sacrifice quality for online functionality. I'd rather shell out $60 for a new game with extra content than five more $40 expansion packs that add on a few features, and if the Sims 5 ends up bad, then that confirms what we have suspected about the franchise since TS4 came out: it's a dying series, and I'd rather know that and continue enjoying these past games with the fairly substantial amount of packs we already have than to see it ran into the dust to the point the code begins to crumble from underneath the weight.

I'm ready for TS5 because I'm holding onto hope that it'll be a much more immersive gaming experience. More customization of worlds and Sims. Smarter AI. More challenge.

But if base game comes without things like pools, toddlers, basements, seasons, active careers, occults, and university then I cannot see myself sticking with this series anymore. Recycled content that has been repackaged across multiple iterations is not exciting enough to spend 5+ years repurchasing for a 4th time.

After Discover University I kind of felt that this would be a good place to stop. I know there are a lot of things that people want like farming, werewolves, moving babies etc. but for me the game feels complete at this point. I am happy to play more packs for the sims4...as long as they are good, but I would not mind at all if they would announce tomorrow that they are moving on to the sims5 pretty soon as long as that will turn out good.

It sounds like most, if not all, of the things you want could be added to TS4 is updates, patches, and basegame overhauls. Nothing you ask for is beyond TS4 technical capacity. You’re not asking for open worlds or anything.

Would you still want TS5 if they updated TS4 to add memories, improve personalities and relationships and AI? Make emotions more complex? We’ve already gotten some indication they’re thinking about doing so.

I want TS5 eventually for sure, but if they’re going to do it I want it to be a NEW game that is BETTER than what they’ve done before, not just a mildly fine-tuned version of the game we have. If they’re just going to make TS4 + TS2, I’d rather they didn’t. There’s nothing stopping them from adding memories and turn ons and better wants/fears and trait overhauls to the game we have now.
    Sometimes I stream.
