For simmers having this issue, it may help to see if the crashing issues occur when exiting from a particular lot or if exiting from a different lot or manage worlds helps the issue. Perhaps see if there is a pattern.
I'll have to test this next time. I've had it going on with my current save. I always save and exit separately. I'll save then choose exit. Sometimes it does fine, sometimes it refuses to exit, and sometimes it crashes. Seems pretty random, but I have played several different households, but I haven't played any other save in a while.
Ya, mine is kinda random too. The first time it happened was when I was in Manage World (world map) and the second time was on my sims' house lot.
(if the Sims 4 folder will be too large, you can send just the dxdiag, save files, and Options.ini, and maybe just provide information on how many files are in each subfolder of \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\)
If you'd like to send files, instructions are here .
EDIT: I would also like to know what DLC/packs you have installed.
@SimQARobo I can send the dxdiag, save files and Options.ini but my entire Sims 4 folder is over 50GB 6.66GB and I have limited internet. I'm uploading the files now. (Edit in: Not sure why when I was uploading folder to one Drive it said over 50GB. I'll try the whole folder again).
Thanks to those of you that have sent files so far.
We're still trying to figure this one out.
- When it crashes, is there ever a Windows error dialog?
- Do any of you happen to have any other programs running in the background when you see this issue?
Thanks to those of you that have sent files so far.

I will get "The Sims 4 has stopped working" dialog with the green loading bar thing. And then it will just disappear and the program exits.

I have origin, avast free antivirus, razer game booster and radeon settings running in the background. I play with origin offline and internet turned off aswell. I've tried not having razer installed and it crashed randomly without it so put it back.
Forgot to mention that when it crashes the app just goes white and it says ;The Sims 4 has stopped working'. Then it says checking for solution but none is ever found and I click to close and the games closes.

I would also like to add that I am also facing this minor problem, albeit randomly. I always choose "Save as" and then exit my game. However while exiting, the game sometimes comes up with an error message stating "Sims 4 has stopped working...". I tried repairing the game but the problem still persists randomly.
It is a minor problem but I would also like to know what causes this. The only mods I have installed are the MCC mods. No other CC whatsoever.

Hello
I am sorry that you are having this issue
Try testing by changing the setting in Origin that says for Origin to stay open after exiting the game and see if that helps.
The crash that happens on 'Save and Exit' is not CC/mod-related. It appears to be related to having the new Windows 10 Creator's Update as your OS. However, I've been unable to reproduce it thus far. How long are you all playing before you see the crash? Has anyone ever seen it after loading up the game and trying to Save and Exit just like a couple minutes later? Also, does it seem to matter what you're doing during your gameplay when it crashes? Like, are you spending a lot of time in Live mode, or CAS, or B/B, or on the Gallery? Anything specific like that?
Any clues you guys can give me would be a major help, thanks as always for your reports!
@SimGuruNick I'm seeing it crash upon save/exit after about an hour of gameplay in live mode. It doesn't seem to crash after a few minutes either, at least for me it doesn't.
@SimGuruNick It seems to be pretty random. But it tends to crash when I just save from Live mode after playing for more than an hour. I could be playing a family and then hit "save and go to Manage World" to pick a different family. Then, when I play the new family for even less than 10 mins and pick "save and exit", it will crash. But this doesn't happen all the time. Like, I said, it's pretty random.
As of now before I exit, I've been just using "save" and after the game has saved properly, I would go back to game options immediately and use "save and exit" and by doing so, it won't crash.
@SimGuruNick Just experienced crash after a successful save. When I am ready to close the game I always use "Save As" followed by "Exit Game" as two separate actions. A copy of DXDiag, Save folder and LastCrash along with the various setting files. I will PM you the OneDrive link.

Questions answered:
I don't think it's ever crashed on exit if I've only had the game going a short time. I'd say it is mostly likely to happen if I've been playing an hour or more. (FYI, I never use the option "save & exit". I always save or save as and then, once saved, exit). What your doing doesn't seem to matter, that I've noticed. But I will try to be more observant to see if I can see a pattern with it. It's hard, since I don't know if it's going to crash or not until it does. I will say, it seems to be getting more and more frequent. I'd say you can probably rule out a lot of B/B since I don't spend a lot of time in B/B, same for gallery. Sometimes I won't even open the gallery during a game session and it still will crash on exit. Most of my time is spent in Live mode, with some CAS.
I won't have time this evening, but I will try to test some theories out tomorrow and see if I can find any common thread among the crashes. Like I said, it's happening more and more now.
My guess is that it's been happening after they added that new Save Menu with the thumbnails.
That may be a factor for some. In my case I have gone for a while playing off and on since then. Until recently I would rarely have this happen. This past week in particular I have had multiple crashes/stopped after saving.

That sounds about right. I'm trying to recall when that patch was, maybe the end of May?
Edit to add: I just thought of this. Maybe how long you've been playing a save matters. Because it does seem to be happen more for me, and I know around the first of June I started my current save.

Hello
The patch with the new load game menu and thumbnails was released on May 26th.

Maybe you had been lucky. Or maybe the latest patch kinda brought the bug to your game.
Also, other theories that I read from other people, some say it came with either the Fitness (June 20th) or Parenthood (May 30th) pack.
Do you have those packs or maybe you just bought those?

No, I only have Origin on.
