@Eddessa those pictures are PERFECT! I can't wait to see what you come up with! I'm glad you're enjoying the theme.
hint... paint the granfather clock... I got a blue and red one.... blue basic red lining and patterns... I think they fit in the wishes... atleast it IS a clock from the area and time period you decripe....
it is a lot like this just a lighter blue (almost like the darkes blue in the bubbles in my siggy) and the leafts and lines are red (the gold on this)
Ok, that's cool. If you read the description I said that I'm not going for realism and that the influences I'm going for are taken from older folk styles from all of Europe in addition to Scandinavia. This is from the second sentence of the contest description:
My goal is to turn it into an imaginary contemporary Scandinavian-ish/Euro village where all of the residents feel a strong romanticism for the traditions of the past.
You know, when you put it this way it makes me think of a somewhat more Scandinavian version of what Studio Ghibli does in its movies - a romanticized, lovely version of a kind of imaginary European place. (Like the following, which are stills from, I think, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, and The Cat Returns)
@Cogitotoro I haven't seen any of those movies, but based on those stills I'm thinking I need to. They are lovely. I thought the third and fourth were real at first.
@Aaronsims , you got me out of my no-creativity-hole! the theme is so great! I have a lot of ideas and can't wait to start :) It will be a great contest! I do love all those posted pictures~~~ can't wait to see the results

I'm glad you're liking the theme and plan to take part! Have fun creating!
@Cogitotoro Now that you've posted those stills, I want a Miyazaki themed sim world!
That would be so, so great. I'd love to see the spa from "Spirited Away" reproduced, or any of the houses - from Arrietty, Ponyo, or Totoro, for example - or Howl's Moving Castle!
Those of you who commented on the art of Studio Ghibli movies, they are incredibly gorgeous. Some of them are intended for kids but many adults love them anyway. The ones with really lovely European-ish settings I'd recommend starting with are "Howl's Moving Castle," "Kiki's Delivery Service," and then maybe "Ponyo," "The Secret World of Arrietty," and "The Cat Returns." (My favorites are "My Neighbor Totoro," "Spirited Away," and "Princess Mononoke," but those are more in fantasy or rural settings.)
One more appropriate for this thread, because I can't help it... from "Spirited Away':

Hello @LeeJenNa I will look forward to seeing your entry! Happy simming!
This contest looks really fun! I'm working on a family right now. I made one with the whole boho style, but totally forgot about the traditional style to go along with it haha Usually I'm not interested in building, but this seems like a fun style to experiment with.
One question though: I don't use CC in my game other than nraas story progression. Should I still download custard?

If you plan on entering a lot of contests in the future, custard can be a good thing to have. If you download sims or lots from the exchange you may have hidden cc that you don't know about. There is a creepy doll and a cabinet that automatically attatch to everything you make if you have them in your game. If you're really sure you're safe I suppose I can check it for you. Just be sure to note in your entry form that it's not custard checked.

Would that be OK? Is the style what you're after?
