HI @Aaronsims it was pointed out to me that my lates uploade might fit here, though it is not fully furnished, so I didn't think it was right to enter it.
but maybe you could use it any way? you just need to decorat about 12 rooms

Interesting! This one sounds fun. I better get working on it! :)

@Aaronsims thank you! You're so generous! I will be incorporating those into the builds :) I have a feeling I will have a hard time limiting myself to one build lol. I see that we are also able to create some community lots as well! Can we design more than one lot and still have them be considered as one whole entry? :) I have so many ideas and will have a hard time singling out only one.

Oh it looks very nice! I look forward to having a closer look when I have a chance. Since you don't want to enter it maybe I can have a section where I list things people posted just for fun that fit the theme. :)

Hmmm, I really don't see the problem in letting people enter both a community lot and a residential lot. Only one could win of course. I'll have to think about the logistics of voting before I make an official decision.

Ok sounds good. Its hard not to go crazy with a theme :) Maybe 1 house and 1 community lot? That way you get a bit of both?

I'd love to see sims versions of those Danish national costumes you posted, though their headwear would be difficult without cc.

Ok, so I decided to go ahead and allow everyone to enter one community lot and one residential lot in the building category. If you submit both types of lots, which ever of the two is the highest scoring will be the one eligible for winning.

Don't take me wrong or anything; I think your contest sound very interesting and I'm thinking of joining :) Only, I live in Sweden and while some older houses looks like some of your pictures - it is not what is usual. Usually it is "summer-houses" (if you know what that is?) that may look a bit like those pictures you showed. But I think I get what you're going for anyway, just wanted to notify that it is not everyone in Scandinavia who lives like that :)

xjulle it really depend on where in Sweden, or Denmark or Norway... no not all live the same way... he just picked a style that is clasic for our area. Actually the wooden homes he shown was very moderen a few years back in Denamrk (might still be, as other "old" looking is)
Ny Swedish family live in a house not to difrent from what he pictured, on a road full of houses like that, in a town with not much ells than houses than that... actually you have to drive quite fare to see anything that is very difrent (beside the school and a shop), it all have strings to the history.
My mom live in an old farm house in Denmark, again quite fitting for what he ask for, if I go for a 1/2 hour walk I easyly walk by 10 houses like what he pictured, more if we just say looks inspired by.
Granded when I lived in the big city I didn't see many of them.... but that dosn't make them mostly summerhomes.
it is true that a lot of summerhomes are build in that style... or are old house reused as summerhomes, but that dosn't make it less scandinavian.

Ok, that's cool. If you read the description I said that I'm not going for realism and that the influences I'm going for are taken from older folk styles from all of Europe in addition to Scandinavia. This is from the second sentence of the contest description:

My goal is to turn it into an imaginary contemporary Scandinavian-ish/Euro village where all of the residents feel a strong romanticism for the traditions of the past.

Also, check out the home of Swedish artist Carl Larsson, which is in the third collage I posted. His brightly colored house and his paintings of cozy looking interiors was a big influence on the style I'm going for. Of course I know that's not the typical style, but I find it beautiful and that's how I want my world to look.

maybe you like some of my rebuilds for HS to.... any way if you see a lot I'm using in my HS that you like, just say so, and I try to find out where I got it.

it is fun how we seem to want similar style in lots.... and sims
though I might be wanting a bigger mix.

I love Carl Larssons work! But you know, it wouldn't be like it without her wife Karin Bergöö, who is often left in the background. She was also an artist and created their home mostly by herself. She's the one major inspiration source for this style even today, she's like a mother to it. (I have studied about her in a Cultural history class ;) )

Thank you for pointing this out and sharing that link. I was only aware of her husband but she sounds amazing! I'm definitely going to do more research about her. I feel bad now. It's like referring to Frida Kahlo as just "Diego Rivera's wife".

Also thank you to @anettesb for the link about the Skagen painters. I'd never heard of them either. I'm a huge fan of the French Impressionists so I have a feeling they will be right up my alley. I've learned so much from running this contest!
