I have to ask how much you tweak the brushes. I use the same brushes as Chan & Jillie, yet I can not get them to look like realistic hair strands. They are either too big, too shiny, too something!! I'm getting frustrated!!
I just opened up Jillie's brushes in photoshop and then the brush window and only rotated them but it did make a huge difference. I'll post an edit in a moment, just skin shading right now because the hair looks weird on a Sim with no other edits. #perfectionist
Beech, what are you using to edit? gimp or ps? And are you using a tablet or a mouse?
I'm using Gimp, and the mouse, so I changed the settings to make the stroke softer and more fluid. And I started with the paths tool with the multi strand brushes for the first two layers/colors and then i used the mouse when i did the individual strands layers. Changing the settings was the difference for me, because when I tried it before, i could never get a good stroke, it always looked like my dog drew it.
Thanks @spackichan
Aww, thanks @BeechNutBaby I think your hair drawing is really good! I would suggest carrying the shadow that's in the part of her hair throughout more of her hair, and maybe some highlights, but I super love what you already have!
@Plumrobert: I usually do add highlights, but I've been known to go overboard with them and then the hair looks dumb lol *sigh* I give up
NooOoOOOo Beech, it looks really good! Don't give up!
I may try later....we shall see. I may just give up on that picture and go for a different hairstyle. I can't seem to get wavy hair to look normal....I had a fun little curly retro thing going on, the curls looks great, but I couldn't get the part right.
I use the color variation thingy and the color balance and hue & saturation tool to get the haircolor where I want. It never starts off the color I want lol. I also use this thing:
I tried one of the pastel color palettes and redid my profile pic photo, and I'm not totally happy with how it came out, but I do like the color! I'll be using those palettes in the future.
