This is good news. EA finally has competition. There's this game, Life by You, Paralives, and Project Rene (sims 5). I predict there will be a little race to release first. Something that I hope doesn't happen, because Sims 4 was released so stripped down, I didn't actually buy it until they made it free. The company that releases their game first will probably enjoy a majority of profit. Though each game will be different and hopefully the other two companies press teams will be able to spin the story to highlight those differences. Plus, since base games usually don't come with all the bells and whistles, players may get bored soon and want to try another if they can afford to. Most players, however, won't be able to afford every ep in three different games. So that's where competition will come in. And from someone who's been thinking Sims EP's have been short on creativity for a while, how many years has it been since Sims 3? Competition will improve creativity as the companies try to one up each other, and it will be beautiful.
This competition will show us what Maxis didn't do these last 10 years or 15 years if it goes further and/or does better than The Sims 3.
But will LFY still be stable 5 years later ? With how many DLC ?
We don't know the price, the quality, the quantity of content and the frequency of DLC.
I will keep an eye on LFY and PL to see what new they will offer.
I am thrilled about the news as I have waited patiently ever since I read the Humble interview years ago. Just hoping it won't be too long until they release it. I hate the waiting. I am definitely going to buy Life by You.
I will buy Paralives as well because I want to support the initiative of others creating "real" simulation games. I am not 100% loving the characters look but I don't care. I'm sure i will get fun out of it and it seems very detailed and I LOVE that the are introducing height difference! I have always wanted that for our Sims.
Regarding Rene I am 50/50. It must really intrigue me this time. TS4 is the first in the franchise where i don't care to get all the packs because some of them literally has nothing i want and some even have features I REALLY don't want... I think I am a bit burned out after 20 years. A deciding factor if I buy it though will be in what state they leave TS4.
Today's the day! Can't wait to see what Rod & The ex-Sims team have been working on. Praying the animations don't look as clunky as they did in the teaser trailer.

It’s a shame because everything else (systems, tools, freedom, etc.) sounds great.
They stated it will be early access for about 12 months. They’re looking for player feedback, so hopefully the UI and graphics get better.
I’ll probably get it when it releases. Looks like $40 for the game while it is in early access.
