Figured I'd share this here, because you're my peeps, not the TS4 community. Even though I saw some friendly names in the announcement thread.
I have to admit. TS4 StrangerVille has caught my attention. If the reviews support my theory that it is an actual story driven pack, I may give it a try. Granted, that is the exact opposite of Sims normal gameplay, but this looks intriguing, and once played through it still provides a new playable town with, presumably, other new aspects to the game.
BUT, I doubt I'll be paying full price for it. I mean, unless the reviews from conservative players are really good, it'll still wait for a sale. But it may at least get me to open TS4 after months of it staying closed.

Hello everyone!
It's been more than a week since I last turned on my laptop this whole job thing it's taking more out of me than I originally thought, I go to work on the afternoons and come back home around nine at night and since I use a pc during my entire shift let's just say I really didn't want to use mine at all
The good thing is that I have my weekends free, so I can be somewhat active around here so I'm going to reply to some comments
@Ziristha - Sorry you missed Jet Set, but at least you were distracted by good news. It comes up again on March 1st or 2nd depending on your time zone but not for as good a deal. If you can wait, deal 522 comes up again on May 8th. Here's hoping you do get the next deal that you are waiting for.
Yeah, I was sad about missing it but I still have chances! as for the good news, they were actually about my new job! I'm super happy about it even if I don't have much time to play sims

@Keiomestre I love Grandpa's Grove and have played it often. The farm house is beautiful, even without the garden and tractor. I do suggest you do some research on how best to route the tractor though. If you have any interest, I have a short tutorial here.
I'm also a big fan of the greenhouse. Although, I don't use the venue as much as I use the SwiftGro Garden Station. That finds its way onto more than half my Sims' lots. I find that the seeds it generates on a daily basis meet the needs for all but the most hard core gardener in my gameplay.
I'm back! It's been forever so I don't even know if anyone remembers me but I'm pleasantly surprised to see this thread is still up and running.
In case anyone does remember (assuming anyone from back then is still around), I'll give a quick update. We were homeless for awhile, then we had no internet. Once we got back on our feet, a computer was low on the priority list because our family was rapidly expanding (faster than we originally planned but sometimes precautions don't work, lol.)
During all that time, I generally got my Sims fix on my phone, which isn't then same. Then last year, I picked up Sims 4 on console. Again, it just wasn't the same. I like to micro manage my sims but the changes to parenting and toddlers/children made playing a sim family based of my real family a huge headache. My poor sim self was always run beyond ragged. And that was before I even tried adding any sign of the addition joining us in a few months. Plus the lack of variety in clothing and objects made me feel limited.
A few weeks back, my husband bought an old laptop from a coworker for $50. It was so virus ridden, it was practically worthless. My husband never got around to fixing it so finally he told me if I could fix it, I could have it. A few how tos and several frustrating hours later and its good as new! I did a quick trial run of Sims 3 with all my expansions and it works great.
There's going to be one relatively minor change in my playstyle this time. I've always preferred playing families. I almost always used those cheats to insure those families had little girls. Looking at my life experience, this made sense. The only positive constant male influence I had growing up, was my grandpa. My grandma and grandpa only had girls. Then my mom had me and my 4 younger sisters. I didn't have brothers. Then, my husband and I started having kids. We now have 4 girls. I was just more comfortable with girls.
We're expecting our (hopefully) final big surprise in June. Said surprise became a shock last month when both a blood test and an ultrasound showed that this little one is a boy! I never really imagined having a son. I'm excited but still in a bit of a state of shock.
Anyway, I'm back. I may never "own the store" due to my long break but, now that I have a computer again, my "fun budget" will most likely be going to that goal instead of toward mobile or console games.
@Sefned Welcome back! And CONGRATS on the baby boy!! It's times like this that it's really not fair that we can't share real life pics cause now we all want to see a pic of that baby when he arrives. It's great to hear you've come through some rough times intact and ok.

@Jude525 - Thanks for the heads up about the new game pack. I agree with you that the story line looks intriguing and I definitely won't pay full price for it. Yesterday I watched The Sim Supply's review of the game. He mentions that the feel of the game pack is similar to The Sims 2 stand alone story packs like Life Stories and Castaways. I really enjoyed those games. I can see playing through the story once, maybe twice. Then after that it would be like a stuff pack.
@Keiomestre - Congratulations on getting Grandpa's Grove. That is definitely one of my favourite venues. I had always wanted to be able to have my sims live on a working farm. Way back when items were still being designed for TS3, our beloved Sims 3 store Designer Alan Copeland had a thread asking what content we wanted in the game. I, along with many others, requested farming equipment to help plant and harvest. Simguru Copeland came through for us when he gave us Grandpa's Grove Tractor.
Definitely check out Jude525 tutorial. The tractor track can be quite confusing at first.
@sefned - Jenny, welcome back! It certainly has been a long time since you were posting on the DD thread. I am glad you have good news to share with us. I was sorry to read your family was homeless for some time, but very happy to read that you and your family are back on your feet again. You must have been very gratified to be able to get the virus-ridden laptop working again and to get Sims 3 and the expansions working. I was especially glad to read your wonderful news that you are expecting your fifth child and now you will experience having a son! I also did not have brothers and most of my first cousins were girls. However, that trend changed when I had my family. I have a daughter, a son, and three grandsons - a 7-year old and 3-year old twins.
Since you are planning to use your fun money towards store content, you may want to check out the time zone specific spreadsheets which can be downloaded and customized. We only update them on request, as instructions are included on how to update them for a new rotation. That being said, we are very happy to update specific ones if asked. @Sefned Welcome back. I am sorry to hear you've had so much hardship, but so glad to hear that you and your family have come so far through it. I have had friends who have been homeless. From couch hopping to actual living on the streets. But, they were single. I cannot imagine the reality to experiencing what you and your husband have survived. And together. Bless you both.

I have to admit. TS4 StrangerVille has caught my attention. If the reviews support my theory that it is an actual story driven pack, I may give it a try. Granted, that is the exact opposite of Sims normal gameplay, but this looks intriguing, and once played through it still provides a new playable town with, presumably, other new aspects to the game.
BUT, I doubt I'll be paying full price for it. I mean, unless the reviews from conservative players are really good, it'll still wait for a sale. But it may at least get me to open TS4 after months of it staying closed.

I'm also a big fan of the greenhouse. Although, I don't use the venue as much as I use the SwiftGro Garden Station. That finds its way onto more than half my Sims' lots. I find that the seeds it generates on a daily basis meet the needs for all but the most hard core gardener in my gameplay.

In case anyone does remember (assuming anyone from back then is still around), I'll give a quick update. We were homeless for awhile, then we had no internet. Once we got back on our feet, a computer was low on the priority list because our family was rapidly expanding (faster than we originally planned but sometimes precautions don't work, lol.)
During all that time, I generally got my Sims fix on my phone, which isn't then same. Then last year, I picked up Sims 4 on console. Again, it just wasn't the same. I like to micro manage my sims but the changes to parenting and toddlers/children made playing a sim family based of my real family a huge headache. My poor sim self was always run beyond ragged. And that was before I even tried adding any sign of the addition joining us in a few months. Plus the lack of variety in clothing and objects made me feel limited.
A few weeks back, my husband bought an old laptop from a coworker for $50. It was so virus ridden, it was practically worthless. My husband never got around to fixing it so finally he told me if I could fix it, I could have it. A few how tos and several frustrating hours later and its good as new! I did a quick trial run of Sims 3 with all my expansions and it works great.
There's going to be one relatively minor change in my playstyle this time. I've always preferred playing families. I almost always used those cheats to insure those families had little girls. Looking at my life experience, this made sense. The only positive constant male influence I had growing up, was my grandpa. My grandma and grandpa only had girls. Then my mom had me and my 4 younger sisters. I didn't have brothers. Then, my husband and I started having kids. We now have 4 girls. I was just more comfortable with girls.
We're expecting our (hopefully) final big surprise in June. Said surprise became a shock last month when both a blood test and an ultrasound showed that this little one is a boy! I never really imagined having a son. I'm excited but still in a bit of a state of shock.
Anyway, I'm back. I may never "own the store" due to my long break but, now that I have a computer again, my "fun budget" will most likely be going to that goal instead of toward mobile or console games.

@Jude525 - Thanks for the heads up about the new game pack. I agree with you that the story line looks intriguing and I definitely won't pay full price for it. Yesterday I watched The Sim Supply's review of the game. He mentions that the feel of the game pack is similar to The Sims 2 stand alone story packs like Life Stories and Castaways. I really enjoyed those games. I can see playing through the story once, maybe twice. Then after that it would be like a stuff pack.

@sefned - Jenny, welcome back! It certainly has been a long time since you were posting on the DD thread. I am glad you have good news to share with us. I was sorry to read your family was homeless for some time, but very happy to read that you and your family are back on your feet again. You must have been very gratified to be able to get the virus-ridden laptop working again and to get Sims 3 and the expansions working. I was especially glad to read your wonderful news that you are expecting your fifth child and now you will experience having a son!
Since you are planning to use your fun money towards store content, you may want to check out the time zone specific spreadsheets which can be downloaded and customized. We only update them on request, as instructions are included on how to update them for a new rotation. That being said, we are very happy to update specific ones if asked. @Sefned Welcome back. I am sorry to hear you've had so much hardship, but so glad to hear that you and your family have come so far through it. I have had friends who have been homeless. From couch hopping to actual living on the streets. But, they were single. I cannot imagine the reality to experiencing what you and your husband have survived. And together. Bless you both.
But, more importantly, you are Simming again! (Priorities, right?) And the right way. TS3 on a computer. I hope you find some joy in the creativity and escapism. Speaking of which, if you are a builder, even if only a decent one, I run a thread for creators that is also a "contest" were all participants are entered into a drawing for SimPoints. It could help with your progress on store purchases. Maybe check it out.
