*30* posts seems a bit excessive. I've had an account for 3 years, and have over 50 points, but most of what I do on forums in general, this one included, is lurk and look for solutions/information without feeling the need to comment.
I'd even be more content with 20, but forcing users to comment unnecessarily just for the sake of commenting seems like it would ENCOURAGE trolling. I think it should be more like 15 posts OR have had an account for 2 weeks or a month or whatever. If someone made an account just to troll, the desire to make worthless threads would probably fade if they had to wait a few weeks before they were allowed to.

The problem with just having the account for 2 weeks or month is that any would be trolls could still end posting unwanted things to the site after their 2 week or month period is up. I've seen people who've joined the old TS3 site years ago whom had never posted anything on that old site coming to this site just to troll and use the site to spam their non-Sims postings(adult content or spambots) which in turn made it less enjoyable for us members who love coming here. So the team thinks it's best to have the points/post count in place so if new members are serious about the Sims games, then they would need to comment about the game that they love to play.

Huh. You'd think they'd reflect that in the pinned post. Thanks for letting me know, that makes me slightly less annoyed that I can't ask for help until I hunt down something worth inputting my opinion on.

It's listed in the "Forum Announcement" forum. And 06Bon06 just has never changed it in her original posting on this thread...
Where can we see how many points we have? How can we get points? These questions were probably already answered here but I don't have the time to look through 247 pages of comments. I'm sorry if I seem rude. I'm bad at commenting without seeming rude.
Actually I just found where it says how many points I have. But still, how do I get points?
@GuiltyPlayer, you receive points from other members when they hit Insightful, Like or Awesome on posts that you make either in the forums or on your page. But remember that you also need the post count up as well and the forums is the best place to get that up as the posting made to your wall doesn't count towards your total post count. So the best advice that I can give is to either go over to the Off Topic section and join in the many word games over there or find topics in the Sims sections that may interest you and comment in those as well...
You do need 25 points, 15 posts and an account older than 24 hours to become a full member...
I just got enough points and comments and it still says I'm a new member. I have 32 points and this will be my 16th comment. I've been here for more than 24 hours. Does the system have to process it? Do I have to do something?

Hello @GuiltyPlayer
Try logging out of the site then logging back in again and see if that shows you as a full member
How do I start a new thread? I have a question about accounts an I can’t find any information or where to ask it
Hello @Mrs_Alicia_Sim_23 . Welcome to the forums
You need to have 25points and 15 posts before you can become a full member and can then change your profile picture , post pictures, have a signature, start new threads, edit posts , post links that show up correctly, send pm messages and have quotes appear in grey boxes. This thread also explains about it. http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/934205/small-change-for-new-members#latest
When you are a full member, there will a blue new discussion button on the top right hand side of the screen,
If you have a question about your forums account, you could post on the activities wall of @EA_Mage
Honestly not sure where else to post this, but I'm just a bit annoyed. I tried to log into my account but it kept saying my password was wrong, however, didn't give an option to reset the password. I find this annoying because I ALREADY had an account to which I can't even link because it's saying I'm NEW. The account "InfinityForever" IS me and has always been me not this stupid version with a "0" thrown in the middle, I would NEVER do that. I tried contacting support but sadly nothing they can do and swear that an account can't be automatically created, but I definitely didn't add a "0" to my username. Whenever I sign in I am automatically given this new username and account. I've lost my original seniority of a sort from being around since 2011 while yeah I haven't posted since 2012...I HAD an account. The fact that this forums automatically gave me some new name is quite annoying. Now I look like a total f***ing 'noob' and I HATE that, especially with the new rules that seem set.

Hello @Infinity0Forever
I am sorry that you are having these issues.
Perhaps if you posted on the activities wall of @EA_Mage she may be able to help you.
Thank you rosemow, I was already aware of the rules since I read them before commenting here, unsure where else I could since I can't create a new topic in regards to this apparently unique issue I'm having. I seem to have such horrible luck, every time I have a problem no one is able to help me and I'm stuck with whatever is wrong and it utterly sucks. I took your advice and posted on EA_Mage's activity wall but I'm not going to hold my breath and hope they can help since EA support couldn't even help. Looks like I'm stuck with this new account and lose any badges I would have had from being a member since 2011....

I have an issue and I hope someone can help me. The OP said you need 50 to become a "member". I have 55 and I am still not able to start a new thread. What gives? I've made threads in the past, but now the start thread button is nowhere to be seen.

Yup, I've been working on it since I logged in this evening. It seems like much less of an endeavor now than having to make 17 more comments to posts
