Aw I'm so glad! Thank you let me know if you start one too!!
Happy Monday everyone and I hope you all had a great weekend! @Loveandhate I don't suppose we did. Nice to meet you and hope you enjoyed your gift. @Hayley~Belle you deserve an awesome pink partyyyyy! Lots of exciting things gone through. Congrats for owning the store and I hope you had an amazing Mother's day and that the road trip was a blast! So, how did you find the song? @Reachsims shared it to me when I was new in this forum and it has been in my pink party playlist since then. It's my travel companion for my 2-3 hour commute everyday.
@LaineeCheri your welcome and I am glad you like some of my recolors I did go a little over board on the baby clothes though!
I have updated my top 5 thanks to a little windfall! (Of gifts!)
You snuck in again and wiped out (almost) all of my top 5 again, @LaineeCheri! Hahahaha... but thank you so much for your help on that set. And thank you, @teanias, for the gift of the hair! That will help me towards the Everyday - Hot Summer Days set!
So I tried my hand at building a house today on my game, something that I've really never been very good at. I thought it was going well, three hours (!!) later and all I had to do was put the stairs in to go to the basement... Apparently, I should not have put a foundation on my house, because the stairs won't go in and after a lot of hair pulling, a couple of really awful words, and searching through the forums, I did find out that there is a way to put the basement without completely destroying all those hours and the house. But it looks complicated and further validates the reasons I have for not creating houses. I have a feeling I'm going to have to just bulldoze the lot and start over again, without a foundation (??) and give it another try. Blah... maybe I should just be happy with the houses that are already made.
Edited to note that I will work on my top 5 list in a bit!
@Loveandhate no gift is inadequate! Theres no such thing as a small gift
And of course @HSmith2016 I love messing up your Top 5!! there's a basement tutorial I had found a while ago about adding basements to existing houses let me see if I can find it! Don't destroy your hard work !!
@LaineeCheri, I did find a tutorial to do it. I have it bookmarked and I'm going to give it a try. But it looks really complicated, there are a lot of steps and I don't know if the stairs will fit where I need them to go. However! If I do have to bulldoze and rebuild, do you have any idea how to put a basement in the right way? Lol
Thank you so much @ciane for that information! I'm guessing once things are installed it's just a matter of dragging them to the right folder (ie: LL world and futuristic things)? And then when I want to play that particular place, as you said, name it sims3? Thanks again for your information, I appreciate it! I'll be going through and doing that all soon I hope! I've bookmarked your thread for later use. What a wonderful resource for those of us (definitely me) that are just getting into the organizing portion of the sims!!
Actually, you have to install the items again in the new sims 3 folder (or copy the files you need over if you installed all the future stuff into the same file). But, it you saved all the download files in an organized fashion, it's not so bad.
I might have to create another install guide for something like that.
@HSmith2016 if you don't mind having a room with a lower level floor you could just erase the foundation in the room where you want the stairs that and then put stairs going to the lower level floor! that is what I did in my school church! if you click on the link it will take you to the a picture and in the bottom corner of it is the closet that had the stairs I didn't color the foundation but you can. http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h337/tnsketch/sims/church side_zpsv28kfrr1.jpg
Thank you so much for the gifts @Kyrah2016 for the gift splurge! I'll be able to Full Regal Living Set free on DD! You wiped out my top five and then some!
@HSmith2016 - Good for you for attempting a house! I use basements in over 95% of my builds. When you are beginning a build the basement and stairs are the very first things you complete. So you have to have some idea about the layout on the ground floor to place those stairs. It's more work to include a foundation but I usually go to the extra effort because I prefer a foundation with most builds. It is complicated to add a basement with stairs to an existing house but it's usually possible.
You can begin with a very large basement and get the stairs in and then continue on to the upper floor/s. You can change the size of the basement later. Good luck!
