My tip of day. When taking your pic for the gallery, walls down pans the camera out, walls up brings it closer in.
Darn, this didn't work for me. Has it worked on every single one of your builds, @JBEAR1, or only on some of them?
Ok, download my Sinatra, put it on Cacti Casa and there is a big difference between walls fully down and the other two when you go to save it. Promise. Don't upload it, I got my eye on you lol.
Well, that all depends on whether it has a lot of shelves or not... But thanks, I will check it out!
Edit: took a look, and that is really trippy. It definitely works for your build. It didn't seem to do anything for the original house that was on the property though, and when I bulldozed your build (apologies!), and built a quick new structure, it didn't work for it. So I wonder what the magic is on your build!
Wow, so many fantastic tips here! I'm in awe of this thread. I can't wait to try out some of these things.
I'll share a few of mine, even though they're pretty basic - who knows, they might inspire someone the way you guys have inspired me.
If you have a large room with really high walls, and they need some visual interest, you could try adding those exposed roof beam ends (I forget what they're called in the game!). It gives the room a rustic or southwestern-style feel.
Also in that pic, I used a standalone industrial counter (either the right end or left end piece) to make a separate counter for the coffee maker - you know, more like a kitchen cart. (It's on the far left side of the pic.)
Here's an example of using the hanging clothes, shoe racks, and shelves to simulate a little open closet/storage unit near an entryway:
Use columns indoors to edge a wall, as with the stone wall in the dining room below (towards the back):
I love that you can put a column against a wall and it won't show through to the other side, but I wish columns didn't fade when you get too close. I'd use them more often in kitchens and such if that weren't the case. But there's no point in putting them there if they won't show up in pics!
Your ideas are great! @jenba72 The exposed roof beam ends on the wall give a great look to the room. The clothes and shoes closet near the entryway looks great! It looks very nice how you have used the columns in the last picture.
Thankyou for sharing your great ideas.
@jenba72 I love how you arrange the furniture for your open floor plans. I never seem to pull it off that well! The arrangement in the first picture is amazing!
I've started putting TV's in my kitchens. The sims will sit and watching TV while eating or sometimes stop cooking for a sec, watch some news, then resume.
Also indoor gardens and fountains.
The garden thing is pretty well known but I was messing around with the fountain tools and items and did this
There are some amazing tips here though and I will definitely be using some!
Holding the 'alt' key while placing and/or rotating an item unlocks you from the grid and allows you to custom place your furniture. This tip also allows for more custom height placement of windows and artwork.
Having a tv in the kitchen is a great idea @Datkid Sims can enjoy cooking and eating meals whilst at the same time have fun watching tv. Very nice design of your kitchens! Having indoor gardens and fountains looks nice too.
Have you noticed you can decorate a pool with wallpaper and tiles?<br />

Sorry I can't post screenshots to show you: I don't have my amount of comments and likes yet.
It looks very nice how you have placed the cabinets around the fridge in the kitchen in your build, and how you have used the cabinets to create a built in tv section @ReesesPiecesNo1 They create great looks in those rooms in your home.

I really like your closet/storage and column idea. It's a nice way to give a wall extra attetion!
(Can some people like/lol my post, I've got 48 points and i want to place pictures but can't :( )
great tips so far, they helped me a lot to realize things :)
I have another great tip, well, actually its not mine, but saw it in the gallery. Sadly Im not allowed to post pictures, cause im a newbie. But look for Origin ID Lizenhard, the name of the room is "Bar room". He/she put some plants outside the room, but it looks like built in, because of the walls and fences...hard to explain, check it out^^

@Datkid, those are all great ideas! I love the TV in the kitchen! That's something you see a lot of in real life.

I'll have to go back and try again, but I was thinking that I could fine tune the vertical placement of a window but not the horizontal.
What is F5+ctl-F supposed to do?
