@Simesies, you can always make your own world. That way you can put whatever you like in it! :-)

Personally I love it that Reach and xSorcier made use of items I have purchased. And the world is just so stunning!

Yesterday I played Brennachen's Bonborde Peasant Farmers. I copied a house from elsewhere and plopped it down on a larger lot to make a farm. So far the family has adopted a horse and a puppy. I tried to find a mate for the YA son but I guess the house it just too full because it didn't work! (I placed the Wishing Well and the Time Portal on the same lot with the Weather Stone.)

Beautiful work, you two. And I have so much more to explore! :D

ETA: FYI, forgot to mention that I am using Burntwaffle's lighting mod.

Junceda - Thank you and I'm glad you're enjoying Côtes d'Ambonnay!

Vickigoh - My understanding is that the game only uses 4 GB to run but the attached flash drive with ReadyBoost enabled, etc... will cause the flash drive to be used for the caching. You can Google for more information. I bought a 32 GB certified ReadyBoost flash drive yesterday which will allow me to use it on my XP OS laptop, if it doesn't do much for my PC. It turns out that xSorcier already uses this on his laptop but he was unaware that I didn't know about this.

Ecole - Thanks for the additional information. I am nearing the time for building the next PC and my motherboard is old enough that component upgrades are getting more expensive as we move into the next generation. This might be a little help to me before I build the next PC. I have tried Razer Game Booster but I don't get anything out of it because I was already shutting down everything I could. But it was helpful in that it let me know if I had missed something I could end the process on.

Star, Cherid and Brenna - Thanks so much and have fun with the world. (Brenna, I hope the snow has not trashed your schedule too much. Be safe out there. I have a foot of snow outside my door and we are only a few miles apart.)

Rukaya - Feel free to finish your family, if you have time, skilled or not skilled. It's all good.

LOL @ Simmera - Welcome and enjoy!

G-Knee - No problem about the Sims with 3PCC! It happens. I hope you get them "cleaned up," because they are wonderful and we appreciate your desire to contribute Sims for this project.

Sharon - Thanks for being such a great help to others on the thread when we can't be here.

Apple - As usual, the shop keepers are beautifully done and I can't wait to add them to my own game. I love how you have dressed them and while they are essentially the same, they are not exactly the same. LOVE THEM! Thank you!

Airis - Thank you for stopping by the thread and welcome!

Thank you, Simesies. We knew we'd hear this complaint but welcome to Côtes d'Ambonnay and thank you for honoring us with your very first post. 8)

What I can say about that that I have not said before is this... EPs and SPs don't offer us much in the way of old and rustic things. EA sells the rustic stuff, the ethnic content, the types of things we are likely to use in the Store and that's where we found them. We could have gone with 3PCC and gotten it all for free and we would have had a lot more complaints about that. So we paid a small fortune for our content from the Store. xSorcier bought it all. I bought it all. The downloaders are buying it all or most of it or simply making do and doing without. We try to grab things on sale. We are not heartless and we extend our sympathies to those who cannot shop at the Store.

But here's the bright side because there really is one, Simesies. We spent a solid eight months on just building the lots for this world. If one owned nothing from the store and had to replace everything, including putting base game rabbit holes in basements, it might take a week or even two, but it is possible for the player to replace everything we've used and still have a gorgeous world to play in. We sincerely hope you will find it so.

The next world we will be working on which is only in the planning stages will use less content from the Store because the content does not exist in the Store. No further comment from us on that subject is available at this time.

Thank you Reachsims. Will do. forgot to ask are the upload to exchange builds listed on the front already placed in the world? Probably a silly question.
applepolkadot, just grabbed and gave a recc to your shop keepers.
I want to get the Moviemagic sp before I grab the monks they are just great.
I didn't mention every sim I have dl'd here but all of the creators are so great. Each sim and sim group I dl'd I gave a recc.

Yes, we wanted to take full advantage of Store content we and many of our friends have spent hundreds of dollars on over the last four years. Thank you, Tangie, for your lovely comments and also for the wonderful pictures. Did you choose the same Burnt Waffles mod we used or did you go with one of her other ones? I love how the lighting changes from day to day.

 That is my Pilot's House from the Docks area of Sarlat, one of my most beloved builds. I don't know why but I just love it. As you might have noticed, we turned it 90 degrees on a larger lot and xSorcier added a few things for horses, etc... so we were able to use the house twice. I love what you've done with it!!!

All uploads listed on the front page are included in the world file but there are some differences. The world file does not allow for any upgraded content, nor Sim-planted perfect fruit so for example, if one only downloads the world file, Isolde's Garden (small park) has plants from the Buydebug catalog. If one installs the Save file, they will find that Isolde's Garden has nothing but perfect fruit, planted by one of my Sims. The Save file is quite valuable because it modifies a few of those lots to include upgraded nectar presses at both nectaries, for another example. The Save file also deals with some minor edits including the removal of a few flyaway ceiling tiles missed on a handful of lots. One chair was moved to a routable position (thanks to Mars). Things like that. For the best experience, the Save file is highly recommended.
Oh my! Well, even with no further info, I'm thrilled to hear that you will be working on a new world! It is sure to be spectacular.
Thank you Tangie. Anyone who knows me well might figure out what area of the world we'll be doing. More info to come later! :D

Something in the far east, perhaps? All I know for sure is that it is not going to be a world set in the USA! :D

Yes, that is the same lighting mod you linked to earlier. I have tried some of her other lighting mods also but decided to go with the one you picked out. And I love that house too! Besides, it's a family of 8 farmers plus a couple who love animals so I needed something that could accommodate that many sims. For a while the boys used sleeping bags but it all worked. And they finally have beds now.

I decided that I would rather copy your houses to use elsewhere when I needed them, and modify them if required, rather than to try to re-create the perfect look you have going in this world. Not to mention that it's much quicker than building something from scratch.

Are you still planning on creating a save file with NPC's or other sims? I plan to copy this family and house to the bin and place them in the world in another save and try out some other households. It would be lovely if the NPC's were dressed in more appropriate clothing! In any case, there are hours of play ahead for me in this world. I can't thank you enough for sharing it with us. :-)

    Oh, Tangie! Excellent guess!

Brenna's Bonborde Peasant Farmers will be wonderful there and I agree it's a great time-saver to just copy a small build you like and one that might work for you and place it on a larger lot. Glad the boys got their beds!

We have definitely decided we will not do a large populated Save file for the world as it's fraught with too many unknowns, possible glitches and complications. However, I think xSorcier would still like to provide an additional small populated Save file with nothing but some NPCs that would be useful for everyone when they are ready to start a new game in Côtes d'Ambonnay or travel to our world, with the use of the Traveler mod by NRaas, from a different world. As he let me do the Save file with the minor edits and upgrades, I'm letting him do the small populated NPC Save. Apple's shopkeepers were created specifically for that and they are dressed beautifully for work.

Note to Rukaya: The Pilot's House which Tangie copied and used is found on The Promenade in the Docks area of Sarlat. As I posted earlier, there are two versions of it with one modified and turned 90 degrees. Both of them sit side by side, at the right end of the street behind the grocery, in the Hospital block. The Hospital sits on the far left of the same block.

And I love ApplePolkaDot's sims! They're already rec'd and downloaded. But I have no idea how to "encourage" them to become NPC's. Should I just place them on an empty lot as soon as I start a new save? I guess I will try that and see what happens!

    is right, Tangie!

For forcing them into NPC jobs, we have to use NRaas' Master Controller (or at least I think it's MC, LOL). That's what will be nice about a small NPC Save file. We can use the mod and get them employed. Others can use the NPC Save file, when it's available, and not need the mod and they will still have those jobs.

Please let us know what happens when you don't use MC. You should be able to accomplish the same, eventually. MC is just a lot faster. Our Sims creators are so talented it blows my mind!

Tangie that is the question I was just going to ask. Don't use MC so I guess I will wait for xSorcier's save. Will he be doing that from your save Reachsims? I think I remember reggie saying something sometime ago about if you prepopulated with too many sims before you let the game put in NPCs the game could use the sims you placed in the game as NPCs. I think that is what she said.

I think I will also add xSorcier's save. I'd love having a touch more authenticity in the game.

Looking forward to putting it all together in the final release.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works, Rukaya, and yes, if xSorcier does an NPC Save, he will start with my unpopulated Save and work from that. I have noticed that in other empty worlds that I populated, the game mechanics did in fact grab any available Sims and throw them into NPC roles. xSorcier has the day off today so we will have time to discuss it further.

From the CAW Population: Balancing Your Population link, which only covers the base game, WA, Ambitions and LN, there are a lot of Sims required if someone wanted to attempt doing them all. I don't think it's necessary to go that far. I think covering the most obvious Sims we run into in normal game play is adequate.

For example, the mail carrier normally comes by your lot twice a week. Is it that important that his clothes be perfect? If it is, then you'd need to do both genders. The same thing for the little paper delivery child, both genders required. Most players cancel the paper so... these are just things to think about. It's a lofty goal to try and get all these Sims into the proper clothes but how important is it really? :? And of course, all of these Sims would need to be created as well.

If I ever get a chance to play I will try to place some of the sims I dl'd for the NPC roles. My DH insisted on buying me the movie sp for Valentines day. I didn't want him to spend the money but when it comes to Valentines day and such he is such a sweetie. I installed last night and then reinstalled the sims I dl'd that used that set. I noticed some of them used stuff from ITF so I guess the game will replace those items as i have no interest in that EP. Today will be too busy to play. I am excited about the new world in progress Will be looking for your thread. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Everybody! I'm back from busy working days! LOL I want to send a HUGE thanks to everyone that have been posting on our thread, leaving such great compliments, wonderful game play pics in Côtes and the congrat's :) Thank you also for the new GREAT sims :D I need to add them ASAP to the Bank.

About the Save File with the NPC sims, I want you to know that I'm working on it but as you can see on that HUGE list posted by Reach it does take some time to get it done! I'll be very grateful to anyone who want's to help me with the creating the sims to be used as NPC. To make it easier just make households of 8, with random French names, you can use a name generator like this Behind the Name available on this link -> http://www.behindthename.com/random/

Happy Valentines Day to you all*
    Thanks and Have fun!

My Sim didn't get the *dress code* memo. Mixologist showed up in this... the photo doesn't do justice, she also had white and green striped socks on

The after photo looks much more appropriate:

    Back to add:
I just love this world. I enjoyed Armagnac Manor with the Beta version. Reach, I downloaded your save and am much looking forward to exploring the dive spots. I also included the lighting mods. I moved my Sims the Ehrenbergs (thanks ApplePolkaDot) back into Armagnac Manor with the final release. I don't plan on having horses, so I removed the barn and put the Dairy Corral in it's place. I also put the new glass blowing station on the lot. I am going to use Twallan's mod to reduce the family funds down to minimal and they will make their living painting, glass blowing and living off the land. A few random pictures:

TammyJo, Emily and Jodi - Thank you! I am fortunate to have partnered with someone as easy to work with as xSorcier and the fact that he's brilliant does not hurt at all.

Rukaya - I did notice that our creators used an item or two from ITF here or there which I don't have either but I think it might be an accessory or shoes or something. I doubt it was the clothes. :XD:

Cherid - Thank you for posting the screenshots! The green and white outfit on the mixologist (not to mention the shoes!) is definitely out of place! What on earth was she thinking going to work like that? You did a great job of getting her into proper attire per local custom, not to mention meeting the standards of decency! :XD:

I love what you've done with the Armagnac Manor and am in full sympathy with not playing with horses. I'm sure Apple's Ehrenbergs will be quite comfortable there even as their inheritance is severely altered. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures and I'm very happy you've found a world you can enjoy so much. I always enjoy reading your posts - thank you for joining us here, too. :D

 An AMAZING world xSorcier & Reachsims! Thrilled to see it was featured, certainly well deserved.

I don't have Seasons, ST, Pets,or IP but do have a lot of store content. There are a few weird proxies but overall still VERY much the charming Cotes d'Ambonnay I saw pictured here and over my wife's shoulder as she played. To get around not having boats I have them teleport to other islands as needed.

When I place a household, I go live with them and make sure they have what they need as far as beds etc and replace proxies. It takes quite a while as I am so sidetracked by the beauty of the builds. Its amazing the way recolors transform everything. I can not tell what a lot of items started out as and find myself in buy mode comparing the before and after with the catalogue pics.

I was playing the Basset Family (by sharonxyz) in a home near the monastery. Their son Pierre saw one of the monks (by Brennachan) walking past their house and invited him in for a friendly game of chess. Mrs. Basset (Loyse)called the family and their guest for a late dinner. While Loyse finished cleaning up, her husband(Guy)and son both went to bed. The upper left corner had a picture of a twin bed indicating that was where Loyse planned on sleeping. I crossed it out and went to their bedroom so I could click on her bed ...

    screenshot_original.jpg
(I replaced the proxy with Gothique bed I recolored)

Your world is so beautiful, my index finger is itchin' to click the link to download this beautiful world (but) I notice you mention "Dragon Valley" is needed.

My question is, is it a MUST to have Dragon Valley? I haven't purchased Dragon Valley because well I didn't like my sims having dragons - I'm not the dragon person

Edit: Okay, you know you could be a great salesmen. I don't like dragons, but ... since you made a beautiful world - I went ahead and purchased Dragon Valley. EA should thank you  So now I'm a happy camper - I get to play your beautiful world.

Cherid, Oiswise and DarkMirage thank you very much for sharing those beautiful pics! You made me smile :)

Jodi, Thank you for the congratulations and the rec :D

Azul, Dragon Valley is not just about dragons. It is about medieval stuff including build/buy objects, clothes and Rabbit Holes. We didn't use any dragons in Côtes d'Ambonnay! This world is about Medieval France, the real one.

I know Reach won't mind me copying part of a post she wrote for those instructions because she needs me to get back to work. ;-)

Without DV you will be missing some rabbit holes, mainly. You may have to replace some of them but you can add them to basements and just add a simple structure on top with double or triple wide stairs to the basement. Take a look at the Hospital and you can see how Reach did it on that lot, if you aren't sure how to do it already. For that lot, however, Reach wanted to create a real hospital from medieval times and so it's a fully built lot but yours need not be so.

The best thing to do is to load the world and take a look around. Even if it took you a week to change some things, it took us eight months to build all those lots so it seems it would be still be worth it to go to that bit of trouble. Good luck!
