Gameplay per Rosebud 500K Solitaire by EuphorialQueen (RBS500K)
Curt had always been a smart kid even if his friends did see him as a bit ... odd. He was the Grand Chess Master at his school beating even the most advanced players. His parents were professors at the local University and were quite proud of their Whiz Kid Wonder Child. It was on the eve of his thirteenth birthday when things began to go horribly awry. His parents had become involved in a project at the University. They did not talk much about it which was unusual since they always shared their discoveries around the dinner table. They became tense at the mention of 'The Project' and always changed the subject. Then it happened. That night they all slept peacefully as the rain fell gently with brief flashes of lightening and the sounds of thunder from far off. Curt was awakened by another sound... a soft sort of humming sound very nearby. His parents were already awake and had gone outside to investigate the sound and the strange glow that seemed to envelope their whole house. Rubbing his eyes as he stepped outside he suddenly heard the humming noise become louder and the light became brighter as the beam focused on his Mother and Father. He watched in horror as they were both pulled up by the light into a ... no it couldn't be .. a spaceship!
Flunked my own challenge. Curt became a Level 10 Scientist and created a clone of himself. Using the Cloning device to create another Sim automatically adds that Sim to the household.
Per my own rules:
EQ wrote: There will be one Sim only to reach the challenge goal. The goal for a single Sim will be to reach a Net Worth of 500,000 Simoleons.
-- This is the only Sim allowed in the household during the entire challenge until goal met.
--
... this is no longer officially qualified as a Rosebud 500K Solitaire by EuphorialQueen Challenge.
The gameplay continues using the challenge guidelines. The actual idea for this save was to experience the Science Career.
Jonah (Curt's clone) is just too adorable to move out. I could just keep him unemployed and have him tend the garden.
But that would defeat the purpose of the Single Sim Rule. Still NO Alien abductions which is frustrating to say the least.
And no options for Missions to Sixam.

I started this but I think I may have made a drastic mistake. I didn't see this addressed in the rules anywhere -- is it permissible to mooch off neighbors until our Sim gets established? Or must our Sim live solely off public lands and commercial venues (and, of course, his/her home lot)?

Mooching is permitted. My personal choice is to limit the time with each neighbor. My Sim only spends a day or two at any other lot so as not to wear out their welcome.

Ahhh thank you, @EuphorialQueen. Mooching felt a little like cheating, so I started a fresh file (but kept the old). Now I have a Moocher and a non-Moocher candidate. Aside from their starts, each is approaching the Challenge in a slightly different way. Hmmm, I foresee a little friendly competition between them -- who'll be faster at hitting the Half-Million mark?

@SimPoseyYum Love that Idea! I have played the Rosebud Challenge (Original) and Rosebud 500K Solitaire (this version) several different ways. Each time I add a new personal twist for myself just to keep it interesting. I do hope you are enjoying the challenge no matter how you choose to achieve the goal.
Well, my Sim, Penny Saver, just finished her Run for the Roses. Her Total Net Worth (according to the Wealth/Rosebud Achievement) is $500,395. The bulk of her wealth is in cash. Her home is quite modest; including furnishings and landscape, it's worth only $32,000. Sorry I don't have a screenie -- I couldn't figure out how to make one from the Achievements page.
Penny met her 1/2 Rosebud goal on Day 5 of her 11th week. She used 4 Potions of Youth and who knows how many other potions (toward the end, she was guzzling them non-stop ).
I had fun and Penny had fun (or so she tells me). I suppose she's earned a bit of a rest now.
Excellent! Penny Saver is the perfect name.
And I see you found one of the secrets to success. Keep the lot and furnishings modest. Sell duplicates, excess career rewards and collectibles. That keeps the bills in control and progress that much smoother.
Bravo on your success!
Are you following the Mini Micro Builds Challenge ? It is open to All Sims Games and a great way to flex those creative muscles.
Once I wrap up another save I have been playing and posted my latest Mini Micro Build I will be starting a new game to play Rosebud 500K Solitaire style.
@EuphorialQueen Did you use code to get the bold letters in your original challenge post or do you have the option to choose bold on the forum itself? I need bold on my new challenge post--Cult or Commune--but I can't seem to make it work. Thanks for any help!
@LibrarianSimmer Just above the comment box there are multiple formatting choices.
B = Bold
I = Italics
S = Strike thru
The codes can also be used for the same results.
Take out any spaces in the brackets.
B = [ b]Bold[ /b]
I = [ i]Italics[ /i]
S = [ s]Strike thru[ /s]
@EuphorialQueen Yes, I know what the bold and italic buttons look like, but I don't have them. I think it is because I am a new member here. I also tried the code, but it didn't work either. However, I will try that one more time. Thanks!

That is weird that a new member cannot format text. I would try being a bit more active maybe to gain points to become a full member.

@LibrarianSimmer It could be your browser....I use to have trouble on the Sims 3 site with not being able to see the buttons on the comment post....trying switching and see if that helps.
