UPDATE 3 March: Yes, this list is STILL repeating! Yep, two months in and we are just over half way through the first repeat. With any luck the Store team might wake up from hibernation and give the DD machine a kick and start an exciting (hopefully!) new list!
.

UPDATE 31 January: Finally! We are in ROTATION! After what seems like forever the first repeat of this list has started! Don't forget, if you're after a particular deal, check out Me1620's Awesome DD Schedule Calculating Spreadsheet to quickly work out when you need to be at your computer to buy it :) And if you fancy keeping a copy to update with your own information you can download the sheet to your own computer and play with it there.

How does the DD rotation list work?

All items on the list appear on the Sims 3 Store Daily Deal page in numerical order, typically for one or two hours - However, some very popular items can sell out before time, especially when the list repeats. When the last item has appeared, it repeats some or all of the list starting at #1. The problem, on the first rotation, is that we don't know what the last deal on the list will be so constant vigilance is required!

This list started on 7th December. Previous lists have repeated several times, some did not repeat at all, some repeated but didn't get quite to the end of the list. There's no guarantee that this one will work in the same way as any other list

Following these DD threads (see the link back to the previous thread below) is also a good way to keep track of what sales prices have been, so you can budget those valuable SimPoints wisely. If you're patient, you can usually find something on sale and it's a good idea to know what price range a particular item has gone for in times past.

If you wish to check or compare the previous DD rotation please refer to the OLD November 2013 DD List thread

When shopping from the DD, make sure to keep these threads in mind as well as they can help you decide, budget and prioritize:

Free Items: Just to note, see something free, pick it up. It may not stay free for very long or may even be "vaulted". Check this list often as things can change often.

Items not in Set: This is a list of store items that don't come in a set. It also includes info about items that you can only get from sets.

Thank yous

To the previous thread keepers: Mmdrgntobldrgn, 2Mahawk and, of course, becomingjenn Thank you for keeping us all up to date on previous sales and trends. Letting us know what we've missed or what is coming up (in the cases of repeats) Thank you!

Incorrect Prices Shown on DD Page!

The new DD pages are great! So much better looking, more information, and details of the upcoming deals, what's not to like? BUT.

If you already have items in DD set and have a CYS discount, or indeed already own the whole set, the DD page itself may not show this.

To make sure you see the actual price you will pay (including any CYS discount) or confirm that you already own the set, click on the set title to see the full details and that page should show your correct price.

Getting Great Discounts Using Complete Your Set

The 'Complete Your Set' feature introduced on (about) 17th July is a great new way to bag amazing deals on the sets you want - especially if you make use of great DD discounts or, better still, the FREE items.

The Daily Deal Stalkers Research Team in association with our Mathematicians In Residence, Jaquaine and PakaJynx have some very useful advice to offer:

Calculate the CYS Discount On A Set
The basic rule for working out the CYS price is (Set Price*.9)-(Item Cost*.9) rounded up to the nearest 5sp.
So, for example, if a set normally costs 1000sp and the price of all the items in it that you have bought individually is 300sp then your CYS price would be about 630sp (900 - 270).

Calculate the CYS Discount On A Compilation or Combo
The same 90% rule still applies but the trick here is working out which set(s) within the compilation have the most expensive items because that will give you the best discount on the compilation - it may not be the most expensive set and is seldom properly balanced. PakaJynx gave us this example for the Island Escape compilation which normally costs 2400 but the total cost of all the items in the three sets is 3028:

Island Villa 300 (cost of all items = 381)
Full Tiki Set 575 (cost of all items = 872)
Tiki Outdoor Party 1600 (cost of all items = 1775)

If you own the Full Tiki set that would count for 872sp out of the total 3028sp, about 29%. Then using the normal formula (2400* .9)-(872 * .9) you should see a CYS price of 1375sp

    Buy The Venue First
There is one slight problem with doing the maths on compilations and that is when a venue is included.
The problem is that you cannot see the true total cost of a venue. You will normally see a price for any PC that is included but the various build/buy and CAS items are not usually available individually so you do not know how much they would cost and, of course, there is some value in the build itself. Generally venues are worth a lot more than their normal value.

For example the March 2013 compilation (normal price 3250) includes the Live, Laugh, Love set (normally 1770) and Le Cinema Plumbob (normally 1900). However, although they appear to be close enough in value they have totally different effects on the CYS calculation. Again, let's use PakaJynx's example:

We're going to assume a reasonable 3500sp total value for the Cinema, due to it having 2 pieces of PC, which is slightly over the value of the arcade in October 2011 at 3355sp.
    March 2013 price = 3250
    LLL value = 2220
    Cinema value = 3500
    (Set Price*.9)-(Item Cost*.9) = CYS
    Buying LLL: (3250*.9)-(2220*.9) = 927 → 925
    Buying Cinema: (3250*.9)-(3500*.9) = -225 → Free

As you can see, just by buying the slightly more expensive venue we get the other set for free but doing it the other way round would leave us a big CYS price! Similar effects are seen in other compilations that include a venue.

    Stack Your Discounts
CYS discounts are applied in addition to any Sale page or Daily Deal discount so if you know a set you're after is going to be on sale or is on the DD rotation it's worth waiting to get two discounts in place of just one.

We have Jaquaine to thank for her help in calculating the DD+CYS discounts. This is especially useful when the DD list repeats because you can now check what your final price is likely to be and budget your simpoints accordingly.

The equation is Your Final Price = (DD Price * .9)- ((Full Price * .9) - Normal CYS price)

So, using an example Wallin gave us:
Let's say there's a set for 1000. You own some of it already, so your CYS price is 800. Then it comes up on the DD at 50% off, so the DD price is only 500.

    Following the formula:
    Full Price = 1000
    Normal CYS Price = 800
    DD Price = 500

    (Full Price * .9) - Normal CYS Price → 900 - 800 → 100
    (DD Price * .9) - 100 → 450 - 100 → 350

    (1000 * .9) - 800 = 100
    (500 * .9) - 100 = 350

So you should expect to only pay 350sp, or something very close to that.

Free Stuff Is Always Worth It
Take this example calculated by Murphysluck:

Some time ago the week-end freebies were two items in the Club Vaindenburger Den set, and that set was also discounted by 40%:

However if you got only the two free items and then went to the Club Vaindenburger Den set page in the Store you would see a CYS price of just 155 that's an impressive 69% discount!

Then, now you've got the Den, why not get the Club Vaindenburger study as well as part of the Club Vaindenburger Relaxation combo which is now only 295. So, by picking up the two FREE items you can get both Club Vaindenburger sets for a total price of 450sp - that's a tasty 50% discount!

    In Game Only Sales

It would appear that the Store team used the excitement over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals to stop offering the week-end freebies :(

If anyone spots a free item, on any day, do let us know ... we sure love free stuff!
On previous threads this post reported all items that are not listed on the main Sale! page but are on sale 'in game' only.

It seems that, apart from some of the venue related premium items, there are now few sales that are not also on the website. So, for the moment I will not be maintaining this part of the list.

Though, if anyone does find a hidden stash of in-game only bargains I will add those details here.

    Note about weekend only deals

It would appear that the Store team used the excitement over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals to stop offering the week-end freebies :(

If anyone spots a free item, on any day, do let us know ... we sure love free stuff!

How Do I Make Sure I Don't Miss A Deal?

Thalia_NL told us about this very handy add-on, plug-in, extension ... whatever you want to call it.

If an item/set you want is going to come up any minute now and you can't keep constantly watching the screen, try this add-on:
Just select the title of the current object on screen, and go to your alert inbox to add an "alert if text changes to (desired item/set name)". Warning: its case-sensitive, so its better to copy-paste than entering the name by hand.

You MUST keep the browser open but you don't need to stay on the Daily Deal page open. You can switch to another tab, and do anything else you like in the browser, just don't close it! Alerts are sound, but hearing impaired simmers can also select the message box option

    It's a lifesaver!

Also: Do not select the clock element, or you'll get an alert every second!
    For Firefox
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/alertbox/?src=cb-dl-rating

    For Google Chrome
http://pulsvu.com/node/1399 - This is an 'alpha' version so try at your own risk :-)

    Twitter
There is Store stalker is on Twitter! @TS3StoreStuff tweets details of all the deals. Unfortunately this is not an EA automated system so the tweets are often sent some time after the deal has started, sometimes up to fifty minutes late! Even so, and especially on the first rotation of a list and for deals that don't sell out very quickly, it could be a good way of getting notice of deals.

How Do I Know What I've Already Got?

WARNING: Just because you bought the set does not mean that the Store will show that you own each item in that set! Mmdrgntobldrgn has come the rescue once again with a Page titled "Those Pesky Duplicates"

It is quite easy to see an item at a bargain price and buy it without realising you already have it as part of a set or compilation. EA will take your money and you won't see any benefit from having bought the item twice.

So ... if you need help keeping your store items organized and accurately track what you actually own, crinrict has a wonderful tool that she has made available for free, called the <a href="http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/475665.page">S3SBrowser</a>.

It really is the most useful store item manager we've seen!

    Searching The Store

Trying to find items using the Store catalogue can be a bit of a pain with all that navigating between sections, but Chimark noticed that you can use the Search tool to get a very useful view of the entire Store that shows what you own, prices and what is on sale all on one page!
1: Go to search at the top of the page
2: In the first drop down box choose "store"
3: In the second drop down box, leave as "Store Category" (it will be there by default, if not choose this)
4: Where it says "Search" type "*" without the quote marks. This is a wildcard
5: Then press the search button - this will bring up ALL items
6: On the left hand side you will see various categories. Choose the one you want, such as "Buy" for buy only objects.
7: Below the category option you will see a Price check list. Check the price range you want - now you have the price range and the category
8: Finally look at the list on the right and you will see at the top of your list "Filter by", choose how you want to filter or sort; such as lowest to highest price or whatever.

How Do I Know Which Set is The Best Value?

Not only do EA sell items in sets they create themes of related sets (like the Ultra Lounge) so they also combine sets within a theme into 'super sets' (like Critter Comforts & Forest Bedrooms) and then they create compilations mixing up all sorts of sets! How can you work out which is the best value for the items you want? Especially when they have random discounts with sales, daily deals and even special giveaways! :?: :?: :?:

You can use crinrict's S3SBrowser for this but the lovely Mmdrgntobldrgn has also created a couple of very handy tables comparing the prices and typical discounts for the compilations so you can quickly check if the prices make sense for your wallet and if they offer good value against the individual sets.

    Check out:
Mmdrgntobldrgn's Sims 3 Store Big Compilations
        Full Sets and other Combinations

What About Single Items Not In A Set?

There are quite a few nice items, particularly clothing, that are only available individually; you will not find them in any sets. Because individual item Deals can sell out very quickly it's good to have a quick way to check whether an item can only be bought separately or whether you might get it as part of a set you plan on buying.

Once again crinrict's S3SBrowser can be very helpful for this as well but it might actually be quicker to check 2Mahawk's very handy Easy to Miss Items thread.

        DD Stalker Community

        DD Community Spirit
The DD list rotations often feel like a real little community of bargain hunters but over the last few list rotations this has really evolved and turned into a real neighbourhood of friends sharing the highs and lows of Deal hunting and offering advice and help to each other and all the occasional visitors who enjoy and benefit from the work we've all put in.

Quite a few new DD Stalkers have joined in the thread for this particular DD list and the very lovely Meg1626 created a wonderful welcome post which you can read in full here and my meagre summary here:

Hello and welcome to the DD Stalker thread!
We are a fun, slightly wacky, highly obsessed group who encourages, supports, and sometimes laughs at each other in our monitoring of the Sims 3 Store Daily Deals. I am Meg and I have appointed myself (no complaints or "boo"s, thank you :P ) the unofficial Welcome Wagon.

I have been stalking the DD since April of this year when the then "list that never ends" (the list after it actually truly became the list that never ends when it repeated six times and then hijacked the list after it for a partial seventh repeat! :x  ) began with the coveted Stones Throw Greenhouse for 950 SPs!   (You can check out all of the joy, despair, and excitement that list caused <a href="http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/669001.page "> here</a>) Since then I have been hooked!

Don’t be afraid to post and ask questions. Those are the main reasons we have all come together to form the best group on the TS3 forums! 8)

Oh, and do check out David’s Awesome Blogs & Videos Featuring DD Stalker avis:

        .

And then, that neighbourhood of friends turned into a whole new world ...

        Daily Deal Stalkers Builders' Association
Out of this community a shared love of building great lots using all the best that the Sims 3 Store has to offer filled the hours waiting between deals and where the Amish might raise a barn to demonstrate their community spirit, the DD stalkers have created a whole world! And a stack of lovely lots to fill it with. :D

To see how this magnificent effort has paid off why not, while you're waiting for your favourite items to come round on the DD rotation, check out the Daily Deal Stalkers Builders' Association thread.

Created by bouquetcatcher and Meg1626 the DDSBA thread is surely one of the best collections of Sims 3 lots you could hope to find! :D

For our new DD members, courtesy of <a href="http://mypage.thesims3.com/mypage/Me1620"&gt; Me1620 </a> who compiled these terms for us, we thought you may like to have a list of the DD lingo.

        - A Jen or Pulled a Jen - quoting your own post instead of selecting the edit button (Meg1626; Meg) - read where Jen pulled the first "Jen" and where Meg coins the phrase
        - An Adrian/Brett Confusion - two simmers designing on same lot (from DDSBA thread) (bouquetcatcher; Jen) - see this post for the incident creating the confusion
        - OE or Offline Existence - a more accurate term than Real Life (RL) for what we do when we are not logged in to the DD forum (silencedsong; Aleyn)
        - completicitis - a symptom of the DDholic syndrome; the uncontrolled desire or need to purchase every item available in the Sims store (Meg)
        - SSA or Sim Store Addict - a simmer who ignores OE and spends most of his/her waking hours in the DD thread or who interrupts sleep with alarm clocks set for every two hours (APotts; Alli)

Let me know if anything else should be added, taken away, or revised. I hope this helps newbies and oldies alike!

Don’t be afraid to post and ask questions. Those are the main reasons we have all come together to form the best group on the TS3 forums! 8)

I tried to message you on Google that the new thread had started, but I guess I don't know how. Fail. You probably didn't see me say it in the hangout, either. Oh well.

I should probably check it huh?

LOL, no problem  I find talking to people keeps me from going crazy while I'm tinkering with my builds. And it also keeps my day interesting during the workday. Usually it's been just me, Victoria, Courtney, and Stef lately.

It seems the topic of conversation has come to an end already, but we were just discussing which traits would be passed on to children based on the place you were woohoo'ing in.

I can't imagine why more people aren't joining us on here.

Does the game actually use that info when Sims have kid?
Maybe I should break my trend of keeping my Sim single...hmmm....
Sorry, I am having a brain freeze trying to imagine that one, based on the fact I have 3 kids myself. That would be tooooo funny!

I STILL really liked the biker guy pic you made, it's JUST LIKE some of the manga I like to read  (brain candy).
You create really impressive Sims.

BTW, if you are inclined to update your DD stalker list, you can list my real name as Jennifer or Jenn (though I usually use Jenn the most. I just thought that would cause too much confusion). :?:

Thanks to everyone for keeping up with these threads, since they are very useful!

Umm, YES! And I'll show you what you helped to make happen. My newest build is for a family with a daughter who is a technophobe and anti-future so I used this set for her room. Her favorite color is orange, btw.

Aww, thank you! :D That's going to be the hardest part when I start out Sims 4, there's no way my Sims will look this good. And which manga?

Also, no, the game doesn't use that info. I brought up the new world, someone mentioned woohooing in the car, someone else thought up how the place should affect the baby's traits - handy skill for a car. Then we just started listing everything.

        Congratulations!

You're almost officially a DD addict now. All you have left to do is buy this DD Stalker Varsity Jacket - only 150 Simpoints, but 34% off for the next 2 hours! CAS recolorable sleeves! As a bonus, it gives you the achievement 'I'm a hopeless shopper and I need help, but I'm waiting for the phone to go on sale so that I can call for it!'

Before purchasing, please be sure to check if you own the 'I Want Everything' set, the 'I Own Everything' set, as well as the 'I Own Everything and Then Some' compilation, as the jacket is part of those sets. Note that all of those sets are CYS-eligible until Christmas, or the next full moon, whichever comes first.

        Edit: Silly typo.

Just a reminder (since I forget all the time myself until I see someone else mention it), don't forget to check your MMAO deals!

I got four items that were okay, but none of them were part of sets, so I figured it was a good deal. Haven't seen anything else of interest so far, but it doesn't hurt to keep checking.

I've been going back and checking out everyone's builds! I love the 'Target' store and Meg's (I think!) future house! I need to get back on the building groove.

Also, where are you guys chatting?
