This is my latest purchase. It's been playing well although I had one memory crash, and it set itself on low settings and a couple of high settings. Since then I've eased the low to medium and a couple more to high and all seems well. How would you rate this for Sims3 and 4?
(Can't believe it's now $100 less than I paid this time last week!!!)

It's an ok laptop, the graphics card should be able to handle medium and a few high.
It's a mid level card.. probably will not max the game but should get the job done.
Lol@ $100 cheaper, crap like that always happens to us Aussies :)

How odd, I was able to play TS3 with most of the expansions with just an ATI Radeon 3200HD on a 1366x768 display with 28-30 FPS. With everything on max. the only dip points below that where when something caught fire in the game. Then it would go to 1-2 FPS. :p the laptop in question was a Toshiba Satellite T135D.

Hello! I was hoping to get a quick review on this laptop right here.
    toshiba. com/us/cdettsr.to?productName=&fgpn=PSPNUU-01X02Q.
It looks pretty good but I want a fourth opinion before I buy.

Can someone tell me which of these two is better? I missed out on the Acer Aspire deal a while back, and I'm running out of time. :\

    Lenovo Y50
    Intel Core i5-4200H (2.8GHz)
    8GB DDR3L
    1TB + 8GB SSHD

    or

    MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-472
    Intel Core i7-4710HQ (2.50GHz)
    8GB DDR3L
    1TB HDD
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M

    Hello,

This thread is very very old now!

That's a difficult one because the first one has a better graphics chip, but the second has a much better processor. I think that in the end a better graphics card would be better, so go for the Y50.

I hope this helps and keep simming,

I apologize. Since the last comment was earlier this month, I thought it would be better to post here, rather than start a new thread. I'll go with the Y50, then. Thanks, and sorry about that.

Yes should play very well on that laptop. Can you upgrade the hard drive to 7200rpm?
When I say upgrade I mean customize the laptop to include the faster hdd.

Or an SSHD which is even faster. Or even better, an SSD if you can afford it (the fastest). Whilst neither really makes much difference in The Sims 3, it definitely makes other things like boot times, opening applications, etc. much faster.

I hope this helps and keep simming,

You'll have to check whether it's the right size, and that the Fangbook has a space inside the casing for the SSD. Maybe contact CyberpowerPC to see whether this could be possible.

I've personally ordered Sims 4 recently so going back to simming after over a year will have me poking around the forums more.

If anyone is seeking out a laptop for their Sims 3 and/or Sims 4 gaming needs, do drop by a post as I'll be checking this thread more often to help! :D

Hi, I was wondering if you're still helping people out to find some good laptops for simming? I was going to get computer pieces and buy my own desktop but since I do not live in the usa sending them from newegg.com is really expensive, they do not even deliver to my country. So I was planning on getting a laptop but I've been struggling to find some. I know the specs and would love a 650, 660, 750 or 740 Nvidia graphics card but haven't found any laptops/desktop with those cards and that fit the specs. They're way too expensive. I currently have like 540 usd, but could try to extent it :) Thanks
