I already shared these ideas with Honeywell but I'll share again and expand on it. I've tried to omit what's already been mention or things or stuff that previous todds had/did in previous iterations. This is going to be a LONG ONE:
NEW SKILLS
*eating
*instrument skills
*logic
*singing tied in with talking skill
*swimming
*arts and crafts
NEW ITEMS and ITEM POSSIBILITIES (includes upgrades to pre existing ones)
*kiddy pool (can be used by children also)
*highchairs can be placed around tables and counters like other chairs (height is automatically modified to fit eating surface)
*Floor mat
*Kiddy chairs
*Todds can nap un beds
*Sand box
*Todds can use clay
*Adults can remove Canvas from Easel for Todds to finger paint then frame it later
*Musical Triangle
*Todds can be bathed in tub/sink/kiddie pool.
*Todds can swim unattended in pool (has to be placed in by adult though)
*large tiled jig saw puzzle
NEW SELF INTERACTIONS:
*teething (autonomous, include moodlets)
*drooling (autonomous, Include moodlets)
*vomiting (autonomous, include moodlets) -may be due to playing/moving being handled too soon after eating or what was ate.
*self feed -tied in with eating skill (todd can spill food in the process), also applies to raw or processed produce from gardening
*push chair/ high chair -interaction unlocked when todd learns to walk
*wash in toilet -applies to toys from the chest/doll house/food (raw produce and bottle)
*play in toilet- unlocked at certain level of new swimming skill where todd learns to splash
*watch *sim/cow plant* - affects logic (include moodlet)
* explore (bookshelves/cupboards) - ends up destroying makeshift books/crackery that apples to what's explored.
* explore small bins/trash piles - gets dirty in the end
* swim- starts by being held by T/YA/A/E sim (in pool or kiddy pool, then progresses to circular toddler life saver then unattended when mastered (pool only).
* splash puddles
* watch TV (unable to turn on or change channels)
* listen to radio (unable to turn on or change stations)
* sing to/clap to cowplant
* cuddle cowplant
NEW INTERACTION w/ OTHER TODDLERS
*tug of war for toy (autonomous)
*splash (applies to tub, kiddy pool and pool)
*sing together-harmony and level of participation depend on talking skill progress
*clap along/clap together-clap to singing, musical instrument being played or just clapping together
*solve together- plays with jig saw and shape blocks
*share -applies to food and small toys
CHILDREN
*play peek a boo (initiated by child)
*sing favourite lullabies (learnt, initiated by child) - todd will sing along based on talking skill progress and relationship with child
*read favourite bed time stories to *todd* - (child initiated)
*play dress up with - includes clothing chest, child will play make-believe with clueless todd
*play with toys together- child plays with chest toys in todd company (todd either "watches' or play with toys as well)
*aww and/or kiss- done while toddler sleeps
*splash- tub, pool, kiddy pool
TEEN/ADULTS/YA/ELDERS
*bathe -tub, sink and kiddy pool
*serve food (rather than being spoon fed, todds are served food unattended)- only becomes available at certain progress lvl of eating skill
*Read/ Lullaby to sleep (should be introduced to child as well)
*Rock to sleep (in arms or arm chair)
*let listen to voice - available when sim multitasks phone and holding todd
*Potty train on special toilet seat- becomes available when todd apparently mastered potty training skill and sim is testing if the potty training paid off
*take for swim - pool, kiddy pool
*ask for 'up-up' (lift me gesture) - initiated by todd
*todds should be placed in the lap of a sim if a sim witches to sitting position while holding the todd.
*aww and/or goodnight kiss - while todd sleeps
*sing to/clap to *instrument*
Alien todds:
special skill synchronize -todds send out brainwaves and performs self hypnosis to learn lullabies, songs from other sims/radio faster than normal todds. (would be associated with appropriate animation- *coughs at EA*)
Now I'll turn off my brain a bit and hope that IF someone implements these things they can think of fun ways to integrate new moodlets and emotions into the game play.
Before I head off for the evening I wanted to come in and say that I am moving this to the general discussion area.
Please do not comment in here with "I don't want toddlers" or anything of the sort. This is an ideas thread for those players who do and what they would like to see from this life state and it should remain as such.
I really want to be able to teach toddlers how to swim (can picture them with little floaties around their arms.)
If they get added I want more content for them like CAS assets (especially costumes, I want to dress my toddler up as a cat!)
Children should be able to interact with them in special ways, like try to pick them up and failing (maybe depending on the motor skill?), play peek-a-boo (this was in TS2 and it was so cute!), tease them by dangling a toy/bottle above their heads (I think something of this sort was in past games but not sure.) I also think the shush interaction that children have with the object babies should be carried over to toddlers.
I also want children and Toddlers to get a neglected moodlet which leads to the sad emotion. Maybe when a new child is born, children could be happy (like in game already), but when they age up into toddlers and the toddlers start to get more attention than the child, the child becomes resentful and sad around the toddler (and vice versa.)
I also want the rocking chair back and for sims to read to toddlers on the rocking chair.
If toddlers and pets are added I want tonnes of cute interactions with pets (which can be applied to all life stages too.) Like cuddling, teasing, pulling on fur, just to see what happens (not a happy ending?)
With seasons toddlers should be able to play in leaves, puddles and snow again.
But you guys have pretty much summed up my perfect toddlers and I hope, hope that we get them so I can start to enjoy this game properly.

My heart skipped several beats when I saw this listed as an announcement. Why suddenly the promotion?
1) toddler beds so that the toddlers don't have to cry about getting out of the crib unless they do the great toddler escape if they were in cribs.
2)highchairs that can go to the table. i seen highchairs that the toddler could use as a table before plus this could bonding time for the toddler and family
3)rocking horse cause rocking horses are awesome for toddlers
4)tea sets with table so they can have little tea parties with their stuff animals and rope in mommy daddy or older siblings
5)both types of babyswings. cause the indoor one i loved it becaue then you could have the baby and toddler with the family enjoying themselves and outdoor for family time outside
6) drawing table for toddler or add onto the one already there so that the parents can embarrass the artist when they're older with the old drawings
7) Stroller enough said
8) changing table incase the mess their pullups
9) potty of course so they can be big kids
10) rocking playground equipment come on it was cute trying to get them off
11) floaties so that they can join everyone in the normal pool
12) toddler pool so they can try to learn to swim
13) the little learning toys from sims 2 you know the bunny that you pull its ear and it was like the animal game
14) stuff animals duh everytoddler need their stuffy
15) playpen if you don't have them in the swing put them in the playpen
16) walker to help learn to walk
17) toys ie like the jack in the box play with the doll house
18) tykes so that they can ride along big brother or sister whom would be on their bikes
19) battery cars (like the barbie one and the jeeps the one where the kid can actually drive it)
interactions
1) to be cuddled held tickled tossed in the air and the claw by teens and up
2) be able to hug anyone from toddler up
3) be able to cuddle the family pet
4) to throw temper tantrums
5) to get time outs if throw a temper tantrum or misbehaving
6) to play peek a boo with child and up
7) to interact with their toys
8) if they are in cribs have them escape from the crib
9) be fussy if they're getting their diaper change or if they don't want to get into the tub
10) if tired and if they don't have a toddler bed but a crib and pets have a pet bed to sleep in the petbed
11) if hungry and they can't get their food if pets have food in the bowl eat the animal food
12) dance cutely if music is playing
13) to be sung to sleep or read to sleep

Been simming since the end of sims 2~Sims Gallery ID:BSAAWaifu
Wonderful thread about the ideas for the little devils.
I'm going to list mine in numbers.
1- I want toddlers to have different traits, their actions to depend on their traits. A noisy trait should make the toddler screaming and crying more often, an explorer trait will make the toddler more interested in exploring the different rooms in the house, Hate strangers trait should make him afraid of strangers and so on.
2- I want toddlers vs toddlers fighting! this can be over a toy or over a bottle of milk :0, not just fighting but I would want more toddler to toddler interactions. Would be an excellent way to make a kindergarten.
3- Toddlers able to cause mess up in the house like making furniture dirty or messing up in the toilet.
4- I want this time teaching toddlers how to talk or walk give some significance in to the life of the sim. If you teach your sim to talk or walk in toddler stage there should be some benefits given to the sim at his later life stages to justify doing them. For example a sim that was taught how to walk as toddler should build the physical skill at a higher speed. The sim who was taught how to talk at toddler stage should build social skills faster and the sim who was potty trained as a toddler should get a slower bladder. Things like that. Just give us a good reason to do all these activities.
5- I want this option for toddlers! would be good to restrict toddlers movement at home or for the sim to take toddlers with them when going outside. Please don't leash the toddlers.
6- I want more toys for toddlers like these:
7- The ability to run a kindergarten business where toddlers of the world are sent to it every day of the week in the morning for some amount of money.
8- There should also be the option of a nanny to take care of both toddlers and babies (please cancel babies disappearance to the day care)
These are some but I will add more.
Everything I post is an opinion here and I think every post of others is as well.
I love the babies and toddlers in TS3.
I'll be satisfied if they can be just like TS3.
It will be wonderful because I prefer the appearances of Sims in TS4.
But are we going to get toddlers eventually?
This thread just ignited my hope...
And I don't want it goes out again by waiting eternally...

I really love these ideas. I'm so hoping that our little infants get unleashed from the crib that will make my day.
I forgot to mention this in my first post but I would hope toddlers share the same skills as children so you have enough time to fully prepare your child before they become a (pre)teen.
Hoping some day for some toddlers. But also dreading they'll never come. JK THEY ARE HERE!
This thread has me smiling.. so many great ideas.
I'd like basically to see how they are handled, with the emotions in the game. I want everything from the tantrum to the happy cuddling.. to the wiggle down off the lap and crawl or toddle off depending on walking progress. I'd love to see them pull up on furniture and maybe get some sort of confident mood and look all proud of themselves when they did it. Maybe the tumble down on their rump and the surprised.. or startled look that would come with that.
I want to see the interaction with a variety of toys just to watch them play...I'm sure some sort of skill will be attached, but I do love how skilling is handled so far.. to me it's enjoyable just to watch so I'm hoping for this to continue. Maybe they could get some sort of bright start aspiration done..with a trait that could carry on through life if they complete certain milestones as a toddler.
I just want to enjoy this life stage in the game. I don't want it to be so challenging I need to cheat.. well maybe if the adults don't have many or any skills it will be much harder, but I would expect that.
I posted this in a message to SimGuruDrake, but I figure I might as well post it here too in bits at least. Basically it is in reference to toddlers and family play in general. I do feel sorry she might have to read it all since I type too much, so sorry SimGuruDrake.
"I'm mostly a chaotic family player which works well for my deviant style to be combined with family play at times. I like giving families from bad situations a good life because it is what I hope for in my own life. Raising kids is interesting at least from raising two so far. Both are boys and half brothers, one toddler age and the other a child. I like to joke that if toddlers were to return to the Sims 4, my youngest nephew will have already been through that stage of his life. One of the first things they learn to do is talk a few words or maybe a letter. Then they learn to walk. Then they learn to talk and sing. Then they learn to talk full sentences and LOL that can be interesting sometimes.
I did take a child development class too which I actually would recommend for any Guru wanting to research family play. Baby and toddler life stages are the most crucial parts of growing up. Some of the events that happen during that time help shape who a person will become later on in life. Like losing a father at a young age can have effects on a child while growing up or when a divorce happens or abuse. Happy and sad events like that can shape a person who they are later in life. Why when the Sims 4 was advertised I really thought emotions and reactions to events were going to have a lasting effect in the game, so that was a disappointment.
My ideal family play situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9u1zMCos8w&ab_channel=ElectronicArts
I mean toddlers and babies causing chaos yet being so cute at the same time would be awesome. As much as the Sims 2 did life stages and family play well, there is just so much more potential for it. Other aspects of family play that are important to me are pets and supernaturals. So Sims having hybrid life states makes stories really interesting to tell.
My eldest nephew is a homebody, heavy sleeper, loves drawing and painting, likes video games, likes to read, a hard worker, likes to talk a lot, and wishes to be an gardener or engineer when he grows up. He basically likes fixing things, so he's handy. His favorite toys are a penguin stuff animal and his Baymax toy, and RC cars. He loved going on his bouncer. My youngest nephew also likes the bouncer. His favorite toys are a gorilla stuff animal named Bob and a baby doll named Carl and a Wonder Woman doll. He loves to sing, yet is shy, and lately only wants family to hold him.
These are just some real life tips I've learned from raising my nephews. Some diaper changing tips for baby and toddlers. Coconut butter and and eczema cream help with rashes. Make sure baby doesn't fall during a diaper change. Make sure to get the diaper on them because they will pee on you at some point. Some other tips. Toddlers will get into everything and make sure to baby proof the house. Toddlers are able to take off the plug protectors, so important to keep an eye on them. They will likely fall and cut their lip. Make sure toddlers don't get too close to the TV since it is bad for their eyes, but they will try to do it anyway. Basically they test your boundaries and will do things even if you say no. They will grab and pull a cat's tail and other parts of her body so make sure the cat doesn't scratch them. They will try to grab food as you feed them and throw food at you. They will make a mess. Bouncers are wonderful for building their strength for walking. Walkers are actually bad according to studies. Car seats are pricey and recommended to be rear facing until two and then face front after that. Strollers are nice for walks and for walking dogs. There is something called a bobby which is good for babies that looks like a C and helps them learn to sit. Leashes are great for toddlers especially to prevent them from running away from you at public locations. Singing and rocking puts babies and toddlers to sleep. Expect them to throw up on you so good to have a fabric diaper for that and baby wipes."
Congrats on getting the thread to announcements sparkfairy. I hope the 1 year quest of trying to get Maxis to understand family play will pay off with this thread and your other thread. I miss you too.
“Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.” –Helen Keller
For me, the gameplay of toddlers should revolve around learning and acquiring autonomy. I want to feel like my toddlers have learned and became more automous at the end of their life stage, compared to the beginning, thus giving me, the player, the feeling of "raising" and "growing up". For example, with potty training, my toddler is now able to use the potty alone, and it makes it easier for the Sims parents, and gives me a feeling of progression. I want the toddlers to be highly challenging at the beginning of the life stage, and becoming easier and easier as the toddler learn things (either by himself, or with parents' interactions). Raising the toddler, and seeing him make progress is the reward in itself for me.
Bonding with others would be my second most important point : a large range of interactions with all the other life stages is essential, in particular with other children or toddlers. I don't want the toddlers to feel sort of isolated because they can't interact as much with others.
I would love the learning process of toddlers to be improved. Walking, talking and potty training are the three obvious main skills but I think these could be expanded too :
- Walking could be expanded to going up and down the stairs (with hands, without), interacting with the furniture, running, jumping -> a motor skill
- Talking could unlock new interactions to ask the toddlers about what they want, how they feel, or ask them to do things (even indirectly, with interactions giving emotions for example, like trying to calm them to remove angry, that could unlock when they have a high enough skill)
- Skills could unlock new interactions with toys too, to simulate the "this toy was too complicated before, now I can play with it", perhaps with toddlers getting all angry/bored if the toys is too hard for them, and toddlers playing with their toys in new ways as they grow up ?
The learning process of these skills could be more involved than parent interaction -> skill bar filling. I think those could be more autonomous from the toddler interacting with the environment and linked to emotions, with toys giving different emotions moodlets to stimulate the little toddlers :
- Baby walker could give an energized moodlet, and energized toddlers would attempt to walk/go up the stairs and learn the walking/motor skill
- Stack blocks could give a focused moodlet, and focused toddlers would be more likely to progress in a mental skill
Emotions could have a huge impact on what the toddlers do or don't : an energized toddler would not want to sleep for example. So attentive Sim parents would pay attention so they don't get overexcited before going to bed and give them calmer toys. I think it could be fun if Sim parents have to adapt to the toddlers' emotions, with toys and various items allowing some kind of manipulation of those emotions. Angry toddler refuse to eat -> either try to calm them (skill interaction) or distract them with a toy or just wait till they are calmer -> try again with the food once they are no longer angry. To go back to the sense of progression I mentionned at the beginning : as the toddlers progress in the skills, the impact of emotions and how much influence they have on the everyday life, could be lowered, with new interactions/new buffs thus giving the impression that the toddler is growing up and becoming more reasonnable and more autonomous.
I'm not too keen on the bad raising = bad traits. I would prefer if raising gave a bonus trait, like the children aspiration ones, perhaps a bonus to the acquisition of child skills, which would makes raising children easier later, but still not something obligatory.

This trailer is AMAZING!!
Although I think the showing breasts thing is a little bit over, it's really a nice trailer and makes me wanna play TS2. Haha.
Why was this moved to announcements? !!! That has me all kinds of excited like why the official announcement? Could it mean they're being developed now and the gurus want more feedback? They djd say ep 3 is in development it could be generations. Or maybe it's sim guru Drakes way at hinting at us? I mean cause this has feedback written all over it so why did she move it to general discussion?
I'm probably looking too much into it but can ya blame me? Anyway I'll participate!
I like things like teaching how to walk talk etc but a few simmers have mentioned that they dislike how you get a random trait if you don't so let's remove that system. We can have toddler aspirations like kids have em. Bring back smart milk too as an object parent aspiration reward for those who just want to skip the teaching.
I don't know anything about breastfeeding but are toddlers at an appropriate age to still be breastfed? When does a mother usually ween off of that cause thatd be interesting.
Strollers would be nice but I NEED my cuddles. I adored it when the sim parent would kiss their toddler goodnight.
Bring back supernatural learning too. Right now we only have alien supernatural babies but eventually improve em please. Like a witch toddler in sims 3 would sometimes make their toys magically dissapear. A vampire toddler in sims three would try to bite their teddy bears necks.
Edit: I think it's an announcement because Drake wanted to hear our family play ideas from the other thread
In GuruGrant Conan's Stream he mentioned that they want to add things that would bring an interest factor or some degree of fun to the game.
Toddlers can do this. Kids can too. Punish us with with tantrums. A feature addition like this in both children and toddlers would bring humor and a challenge to the game.
Give me this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSO5LK39Ko8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf9MM49qgIQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7ujm0JWEhY
I would recommend watching a couple episodes of "Super Nanny" for research (if you don't have kids yourselves)
Love all these ideas, and fill there is no use repeating what hs already been said with learning and development of the little ones.
However as much as i enjoying the progression of toddlers and smaller interactions such as walking in a pram and cuddling. I would also like the mischievous element of toddlers, this is one thing that s3 lacked. Im talking little things like drawing or painting on a wall, knocking over a lamp, touching what they shouldn't, climbing stairs without permission. This is what i love about toddlers as the exploring and mischievousness, is what develops thier independent personality. Its an exploration they have learnt on thier own which gives them thier uniqueness, away from what a parent has taught them.
This is one aspect i believe s4 could do well, if it was given the opportunity too. Simular to how children and adults develop thier personality through the goals of aspirations a toddler could be the same. Ok lets hope you understand me......
The everyday caring tasks is what gives a toddler thier basic understanding it is a must. Therefore not necessarily goal worthy, its simple if you dont look after the kid its time to say by by. But what if toddlers could also have independent personality or exploration personality, not necessarily with tasks like draw on wall 5 times or pick nose 2 times NO im not interested but with a goal at the end that the toddlers/player chooses. In simple terms the goals are there but with out the tasks, as its something that should be explored by the player without necessarily picking it. Like a hidden personalitly.
So lets take the drawing on wall, if a parent sim doesnt pick up on it then the toddler would take that personality in childhood, then still drawing on wall would then progress in to art on wall then in teenage years progress in to graffiti. Therefore loves graffiti art... etc
See where i m going. Personality develops because an adult has not noticed what they have or havent done. Can be good or bad. Simular to s3 pets, how we trainned the animal, but in a less noticable way.
And dont forget about emotions when/if adding toddlers because that is one area i believe toddlers will be brilliant in, as thier emotional state changes so quickly watching/controlling the little horrorlugs sims will be fun.
When i think of Toddlers... I want them to be able to autonomously be able to draw on the wall, range in different personalities, learn to walk by tempting to grab things besides being taught, and being fun but more challenging in game.
I only ask for one thing: Do not bound them. As one that has little cousins and friends with little ones around this age, let my sims also suffer the running of the bathtime toddler that tracks water everywhere, and then the love of them when they reach for hugs.
And for us with Get to Work, don't forget alien toddlers.
Okay that makes it two things but still.
Should anything come about this, that is all I ask as everyone else can give you more ideas.
I have no memory of this place. Time to start anew I guess

Amazing list!
I love all the ideas so far, you really are very clear on what you want to see and I think that's needed
https://twitter.com/sparkfairy1
Please do not comment in here with "I don't want toddlers" or anything of the sort. This is an ideas thread for those players who do and what they would like to see from this life state and it should remain as such.

I'll be satisfied if they can be just like TS3.
It will be wonderful because I prefer the appearances of Sims in TS4.
But are we going to get toddlers eventually?
This thread just ignited my hope...
And I don't want it goes out again by waiting eternally...
By the way @halimali1980
Great ideas!
I love them!
I really love these ideas. I'm so hoping that our little infants get unleashed from the crib that will make my day.

Haha.
Toddlers can do this. Kids can too. Punish us with with tantrums. A feature addition like this in both children and toddlers would bring humor and a challenge to the game.

I would recommend watching a couple episodes of "Super Nanny" for research (if you don't have kids yourselves)
Please fill free to expand if you like the idea.
And for us with Get to Work, don't forget alien toddlers.
Okay that makes it two things but still.
Should anything come about this, that is all I ask as everyone else can give you more ideas.
I have no memory of this place. Time to start anew I guess
