I feel like one of the simstaff moved it back because they didn't know @simgurudrake moved it here. I don't know why they would move it back so soon.
I don't know what to contribute since everyone else pretty much is really creative and pretty much covered everything. I had no idea how much potential toddlers could have!
All I can really say if toddlers had all their interactions and objects from the past two Sims games, I'll be a happy camper. Anything new would be just be an amazing bonus. I will say I hope we can play peekaboo.
Also if devs are going to start paying attention to ideas on toddlers, please put toddlers and the basic essential in a patch and anything else in a Generations EP.

I'd love for toddlers to be able to do peekaboo as well @LoveMcQueen5683 !! If I had a little child I'd play peekaboo with them all the time
I've been thinking a little more about what I think would be great for toddlers to have in The Sims 4 and thought more about things they could use inside and outside of the house and I thought of small vehicles for them to drive!
So stuff like this...
The first one the toddlers would be able to pedal but the second one would require an adult to push them on it I think it would not only be a great way of getting the toddlers fun up but would also be great on socialising between parents and the toddler When I was younger I used to have something like the first picture, it was great fun and I think it would be awesome if toddlers could use them in The Sims 4
Toddlers should be expanded on in other SP's, GP's and EP's! That's important to me!
Edit: They should be patched in, so we can get content and interactions for them in other packs as well.
I know what you mean and I agree. If we got the toddler basics in a patch, it leaves it open to get a lot more content in the future. Like if we got pets, then toddlers could sleep in the pet basket, eat pet food (eww), and cuddle the dogs and cats like in older games.
If we got toddlers in a pack, then it makes it more difficult to add extra compatible content, and less likely to get additional items in the future.
Thanks Cinderelli
The point is - If we don't get toddlers patched in, we won't be able to have this!
I love all of these ideas. I loved the toddlers in Sims 2 - they were so cute and detailed. When they had learned the nursery rhyme, they autonomously sang it by themselves, doing the little dance thingy... so adorable. And someone already mentioned that they crawled into the pet beds and fell asleep.
Maybe when they have learned the basic toddler skills like potty training walking and talking, they can start on the child skills.
My only concern with all these amazing ideas in this thread is that if implemented, children in sims 4 will seem dull and empty in comparison.
I want toddlers to be read to by all the older life stages, including children. I want them to be able to play with children toys - following their old siblings around and take their toys and ruin their dollhouses and being able to play with other life stages.
Allons-y!
---> Afterlife Game Pack Idea - improved ghosts, cemeteries and funerals, psychics, new skills, new career and more! <---
Mommy's little helper could be an aspiration for children where thy help mom with giving the toddler their bottle or food and playing with the toddler while mom and dad cook and do household chores. Maybe older children could read or show picture books to their toddler siblings too. That's my 2 cents worth. I love the ideas others have already posted. It made me realize that toddlers really are an integral part of a family for those who play families. Hint, hint, EA.
I would like to have challenge stuff for parents, like screaming toddlers waking up at midnight, mischievousness, throwing the bottle, tantrum eating, etc. Stuff that makes the game feels more realistic...
I am getting whiplash from all the moving! I love all the ideas I've been reading. Speaking of reading, I would like older sims to read to toddlers like they can in Sims 2. But, I'd like it to be an activity that is both a relationship boost and a skills boost to the toddler and the reading sim. Perhaps Charisma for teen and older sims, and Social for the younger?
And although I prefer how Sims 2 toddlers are designed over Sims 3 toddlers, there are some Sims 3 baby & toddler objects I do like a great deal. Such as the baby monitor, swing, walker & playpen. We need rocking chairs back too. It would be great if Sims 4 toddlers could have those objects & and babies "untethered" from the bassinet to use the infant swing or rocked in the rocking chair.
I've always said, if I ever do get my little girl I will make sure I get her great fun things to use when she's young And something I'd love to see toddlers use in The Sims 4 has got to be rocking horses and rocking toys! I found this picture online and I think if we had this with loads of different variations of colours/animals in The Sims 4 then it would be awesome...
Having this in The Sims 4 would be great, because you could have it so toddlers can have fun on them but also because of multitasking can still socialise (if they can talk) with family members I would really love to see this or something like this in The Sims 4
Loving all these.
Is there a particular reason behind why this is a pinned topic and tagged announcement in general discussions....this would be a low blow if its nothing but a joke. This is a hint hint or Maxis just toying with us as usual.

2. The Sims 3
3. The Sims 4 (5 years later its decent)
4. The Sims 1
Loving literally everything in this thread! I haven't been able to play Sims 3, so I don't particularly know the joys of toddlers (and am now spoiled by the sims 4 animation, but I do intend to give 3 a shot!). I don't have anything to add besides every single idea produced in this thread, but the idea of in-depth family play is beyond amazing! I love the parties of GT and the careers of GtW, but I'm a family player at heart. (Also, this is the most productive thread I have seen in the sims forum so far!)
Loving all these.

Idk but if they are just now wanting to hear our ideas on toddlers then that doesn't give me a lot of hope that they will be coming anytime soon, at Least not by next expansion which should be here in 3-4 months.

They could have finished basic toddlers and now they are doing bonus content for a Generations EP?
I see no reason to make this thread a sticky at all. It is either some kind of ploy to pacify people for a while and make them believe something is in the works, or they actually are belatedly working on toddlers - in which case, it is rather late in the day but they ought to come out and say so instead of stringing people along.
Anyway... lots of fantastic ideas.
I love all the toys and clothing suggestions, and new skills etc. My main concern would be to have plenty of interactions between the different age groups. And having group activities, such as a parent and tots club. The suggestion of grandparents babysitting is perfect.
One thing I want to mention is please give us some good clothing choices for our toddlers! Please. And when you make an Ep, Gp, or Sp, don't forget them. I want my toddlers to have style. I dress my little guy in fun cute outfits and want my sims to be able to as well.

All these ideas are great! They'll make the game fantastic. I really just want them to not be bound to a crib or playpen. Carrying toddlers around with you in TS3 was simple, but made it feel more realistic. As someone else said, the TS3 toddlers were great (I never played TS2, so I can't compare), so I have faith that they'll get TS4 toddlers right.
:') I was going to give my ideas in one huge post but you guys basically said it all, so I'll try to be "brief".
I have no doubts that if we get toddlers in TS4, they will probably be the cutest ones to date because of the artstyle (I mean, at least that toddler on the render was extremely cute), but EA also needs to give them plenty of good content so not only are they the cutest, but also the best toddlers we have ever had. And I think we deserve it after waiting for so long for them to come back and because in TS3, toddlers were pretty neglected in general, which made them a boring lifestage for a lot of people (not to me though). Toddlers aren't supposed to be boring, they should be fun to play with, they should be a challenge, yes, but a fun challenge. And with the amount of wonderful suggestions in this thread, there is no excuse to not make them right this time around.
Basically what I want in the toddler lifestage is to be able to watch them grow and me having a hand on it of course. Seeing them crawl around the house at first, being more dependent on other sims, but once you teach them how to walk, then they could start crawling to things, like couches and beds (I want cribs but I also want toddler beds!) and even stairs. I'd also like them to be able to talk with other sims after you teach them to talk, and feeding them on the high chair before they learn to eat on their own. Those little milestones when they learn to do something on their own and start being more independent in general is what makes it so special to me, it really gives that feeling that they are truly growing up and you are helping your sim parents raising them.
Mischief toddlers need to come back. I want them to throw tantrums when they are hungry/sleepy/bored, I want that to show when they are doing things, like if your sim gives the toddler a bath when they are too tired, I want to see them angry and soak that sim to the bone. I want them to paint on the walls or couches and break objects. Make mud pies on the garden and completely make a mess of themselves.
The cute moments are as important. Toddlers acknowledging that they are around their parents or siblings, following them and asking for attention. Being able to interact and play with other toddlers and children, making them develop their relationship more naturally. Having the parents tuck them in on the crib/bed and sing a lullaby or read a bedtime story before they fall asleep. The little things sometimes are the most important things.
this make me very happy that it in the general discussion section i would like it if they have like the interaction from the sims 2 and 3 and that and be able to give them a bath and please please more clothes for them cause the sims 3 did not have alot of options for clothes for toddlers
I'll admit I haven't gone through to see what everyone else has posted yet, because this thread is already 7 pages long. Just wanted to throw in my own two cents as the mom of a toddler:
- Toddler beds that are low to the floor so the kiddo can climb in/out themself. Also/alternatively, the ability to just click on the floor (as the toddler) and "sleep here" ... my kiddo NEVER sleeps in his bed and ALWAYS sleeps on the floor! If you want to make us have to buy something, maybe a blanket that can be placed on the floor for the toddler to sleep on?
- The ability to climb into the toy boxes, from TS3. My kid *loves* climbing into and sitting in / playing in boxes.
- Having a high chair that will "snap" to the table like regular chairs, so a sim sitting in an adjacent chair can feed the toddler while also feeding themself. (I do this all. the. time.) But also the ability for the toddler to feed themself, too. It's certainly nice that my toddler basically feeds himself these days, so I can focus of feeding myself / the baby.
- Changing tables! I was so bummed that changing tables were added so late into the life of TS3, and as downloadable content from the store, instead of being added in the "Generations" EP. None of this "throw in the air and spin around for a fresh diaper" business.
- Giving toddler a bath in the bath tub. Complete with splashing and trying to "swim" and making bubble hats.
- Sidewalk chalk
- Probably obvious, but the usual "learn to walk / talk / potty" toddler skills.
- Adorable animations of toddlers knee-crawling up the stairs (maybe an awkward both-feet-on-each-step walk after they've learned to walk?) and butt-scooting back down.
- Being able to cuddle up with the toddler and read them to sleep.
- A new swingset object: with a regular swing for children (and older) and a baby swing (you know, those little bucket seats with leg holes) for toddlers. Anyone child+ can push anyone on either type of swing.
- Crazy toddler dancing to the music: just spinning around and jumping up and down and waving arms around. Or, for the toddlers who haven't learned to walk, just bouncing up and down while sitting.
- Taking the child toys out of the toy boxes and chewing on them. Bonus points for leaving little slobber puddles on the floor whenever they put them down.
- Dressing up in costumes, like in Freeplay.
- If we get pets, the toddler playing in the pet's food / water dishes.
- The ability to climb up onto any chair / couch. Maybe not barstools, but couches, loveseats, living chairs, dining/desk chairs.
- Climbing up onto a bed and jumping around.
- A building blocks toy set
- Some kind of toddler art table, maybe a smaller version of the child one? Toddler can use finger paints or crayons, and the finished artwork can be put in inventory or on the walls
- Tantrums ... hey, this is supposed to be a life simulation, right? Tantrums because they can't reach something, or they bonked their head on the table, or they're hungry, or tired, or don't want to go to bed, or just because they're a toddler and that's what they do. "Hates children" sims can get angry moodlets from a nearby tantruming toddler, sticking their fingers in their ears and glaring at the toddler. Family oriented sims might autonomously try to calm down a tantruming toddler.
- A variety of "walker" toys: like the one from TS3, but maybe also toys that the toddler can hold onto and walk behind (we have a toy lawnmower like that, and also a ride-on-or-push car)
- Picking their nose and eating the boogers.
- Toddlers hugging other toddlers, and maybe playing pat-a-cake games (with other toddlers and with older sims, too)
- PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO IMAGINARY FRIEND DOLL.
It's fairly important that toddlers are patched in opposed to given an expansion or game pack. If toddlers turn out to be dlc then they probably wouldn't get much (if any) attention in further EPs, SPs, or GPs because then only people with the 'toddler/generations pack' would be able to enjoy the full extent of the packs. It would probably be best to make the toddlers a free patch, or make toddler specific stuff/game packs adding onto the 'toddler/generations pack'. (I think people before me have commented similarly but I just thought I'd throw in my two cents)
I want a variety of ways to learn toddler skills (walking, talking, potty training, nursery rhyme, etc.). Could be done through other sims (older sim helping toddler walk), objects (a talking toy or 'explorig' the potty chair) or by their own will (attempting to walk to an object instead of crawling, using words instead of crying).
