Since the games release in 2014, a lot of highly requested careers have been added, but I still struggle to pick a normal job for my sims (does anyone play as a Diamond Agent? Is it worth it?). Here are some careers I would love to see added to The Sims 4:
- Cosmetology career with a Makeup Artist branch and Hairstylist branch. Would make a great work from home career as the daily tasks could be giving townies makeovers (which is definitely needed!)
- Psychologist, one branch could be Therapist and the other could be psychology in more of a research capacity. Funny how we have a psychology degree but no psychologist career!
- Architect!!!! I miss this career from TS2, although I'm struggling to think what branches you could have.
- I wish the Actor career had a Director branch too
- Singing! I know we have the Entertainer career but nothing really for the singing skill which is a shame
- More blue collar/service jobs! I was so excited when Engineering was announced in Discover University but was disappointed to learn it was either computer programming or robotics. I want Electricians, Mechanics (once we have cars), and plumbers! Not every job has to be glamorous!
- New part time jobs: Dog walker (should have come with Cats & Dogs), and Maid
I would love more everyday jobs in TS4, ones that don't rely on us being a social media influencer or an evil supervillain. I really struggle to play working class families because of the lack of career options for them, and it's a shame because they're my favourite families to play with.
HOWEVER, I would really love to see the careers from Happy Haunts as well. Would be fun careers to give occult sims as it would suit their lifestyle, kind of like the Paranormal career from TS2. Grim Reaper would be such a blast to play, it's wacky and different but fits with The Sims style and humour more than some of the other weird careers I haven't touched since launch.
Have I missed any? I would love to hear your thoughts on the careers in game and if we need any more!

The Sims 4 General DiscussionI would love more everyday jobs in TS4, ones that don't rely on us being a social media influencer or an evil supervillain. This for me too. I want common/blue collar jobs. Firefighters, architects, plumbers, mechanics, construction workers, accountants, librarians, etc. I want more technology-free jobs and more depth to the work our sims do. I'm tired of so many daily job tasks being nothing other than "research this, write this, study this". Please give my sims tasks that don't force them to sit at a computer for several hours. Yes, there a many professions where you need to type documents/files/charts/whatever to be sent to co-workers, even in those jobs I listed. But c'mon, not every job requires employees to be constantly on the computer when they aren't at their jobs. Heck, I'd quite like to see more jobs where there are no daily tasks from home and the only way to get the sim promoted will be based on how they perform at their job.

The Sims 4 General DiscussionAll of this! I can’t believe I missed out accountants and librarians - they would be great in the game! I’m just sick of every job being high powered, glamorous, and stuck to the computer chatting to fans and creating viral videos. It doesn’t suit my stories. 🤷♀️
I’d love this! You could have a media career with a TV branch and a radio branch!
Plumbing and Electronics
A brand new active career called something like Mechanic, which branches off into two branches; Plumber and Electrician.
They would have to rework the Handiness skill so that "Repairing" objects in the game falls under either Plumbing, Electronics, Programming, Robotics, Rocket Science or Handiness.
Yes, Handiness still remains as the skill for the woodworking bench and maybe kitchen upgrades, but repairing stereos will use the Electronics skill, repairing sinks will use the Plumbing skill, repairing computers will now fall under the Programming skill, and so on...
It would be cool to have tasks to go to other sims houses and Upgrade something in their home.
Archeologists
Veterinarians
FBI Agents
Edited to add additional careers.
I really like this idea!
Dancer, gymnast, figure skater, more types of athletes, more areas of filmmaking.
I would love this! More fitness and sports based careers are definitely needed - all my sporty sims just get the one career choice!
And I’m still hoping at some point in the future we get a director career, although it should have been a branch in the actor career!
Firefighters are a DEFINITE need! Active and non-active options
Another business/office job like Advertising Exec
Construction
Dentist
News anchor / talk show personality
Another sports branch like Coach
Jeweler
Hospitality like front desk or hotel manager
Part-time job: yoga instructor
It would be cool if there were some full-time careers that didn’t come with so many preposterous promotion levels, maybe just occasional raises. Like bartender, security guard or customer service. They can also be resume builders so you can hop in a few levels higher if you do ultimately switch to a job with a more structured “career path”.
I wish they’d just unload like 3 dozen new jobs on us. They don’t have to have anything “complicated” like those ridiculous reward rooms or deco clutter I’ve never even used. Just have the writers craft up some clever copy for the promotion levels and lets get our Sims to work!

I need a patch that has a whole heap of careers! Specifically more careers that aren't technology-based (I'd also love to. see a notebook or something in-game to get up the writing skill without tech but that's not really relevant to the topic) and careers that don't pay very well for story purposes
I never understood why spa day didn't come with a carrer or at least a wellness aspiration. I love your option of massagist/ yoga instructor.

Yes! Same problem with my athletic sims...
@Luxury your list is great, I want them all! So many varied careers to tell all kinds of different stories, and I agree I want ones not so focused on tech. Do you have the Parenthood pack? There’s a journal that sims can write in that gets their writing skill up and helps if they’re tense.
Interior designer
Babysitter
Wedding planner
House builder, but enjoyable without major leveling and restrictions
are the ones I really want.
Jobs with little to no leveling like factory, fast food, and store clerks.
Personality,depth,humor,consequences,lore,customization.
Part Time Job
Career
Active Profession

I'd like to see any of these (all of them would need to be tied to a pack of some sort):
Fire Fighter: Based at a fire station lot and gets called out to in game lots to put out fires. There could be an option to include played lots if you wanted that. Unplayed lots damage gets repaired after the fire. Played lots need to pay for replacements if the option for fires (other than what occur in normal gameplay) if that option is turned on.
Occult Hunter Ghost/Vampire/Spellcaster/Alien Active: From a base lot track down trouble causing occult townies and take them into custody. Include an occult hunter skill tree so the hunter can deal with progressively more difficult occults and/or specialise in certain types of occult troublemakers. Have skill based interactions for the apprehension of the occults, based on both sims skills and powers.
Psychologist: Work from home, treat sims with a variety of mental health issues. Also would add a collection of mental health traits that sims can pick up. There could be an option to include sims from played households obtaining these traits from time to time if you want to opt in.
Film Crew: Work your up through wardrobe, makeup, cinematographer scriptwriter to director. The ability to construct films from genre scenes that get released and do well according to quality of scenes and currently popular trends, similar to the way media production works, but more involved. Probably not realistic as it would need to be in a pack that required get famous, but would be cool.
Librarian: Run the circulation desk efficiently, help patrons with technical, study problems and book selection, fix broken down equipment, keep the library collection interesting with new books in currently popular genres. Make sure that the sims using the computers to play Sim Scuffle use headphones to keep the noise down. Could have a ratings system like restaurants and shops do that affects the popularity of the library.
There are some existing rabbit holes that would be great as active careers too:
Astronaut: Based at a mission control lot, work your way up to astronaut and go on space missions to sixam and a number of the choose your own adventure scenarios that the game currently has (or completely new ones). Including a space ship lot where emergencies might happen and require fixing to a time limit. Could be in an Into the Future/Sci Fi pack that also makes aliens a bit more fleshed out.
Secret Agent: Similar to the detective career, but with more emphasis on investigation using bugs and stopping enemy agents from completing their mission rather than arresting them. I don't know what sort of pack this would fit into, but would fun.
Criminal: Starting with pick pocketing on community lots. Then have a series of progressively harder burglary assignments. Then onto bigger crimes, involving hacking and other computer skill related activities.
