π I thought it would be fun to share funny build mistakes stories. Something that always happens to you, or how you build it-simple or major- that makes you crack up!
I will start!
Mailboxes.
I have never started a game where the mailbox doesn't pop up in my entry way
I can never remember to place one for the life of me-
Also, some of my roof builds are some of the most questionable things LOL.

I dance to the beat of my own drum, no matter how measured or far away.
I do love a road. You can always be wondering what is at the end of it.I often start to build the kitchen and get carried away and when I playtest, my Sims complain that there is no fridge...
Here I had to place it behind the screen... This kitchen just wouldn't look good with a fridge.

I wish we had half high fridges we could place in/under a counter.
Edit: I had to search the fridge myself in this build, it's a while ago omg ...

unfortunately i had failed to take to consideration that it was winter in my game when i was playtesting it and sims just kept going outside and freezing to death
that was quite morbid spa trip
but I remember it fondly as i don't make these types of accidents often
also i have bad habit of forgetting to put in toilets like this one time i built whole mansion and only realized at the end that theres no toilet in my build
needless to say that was rather heartbreaking to adjust the build to fit in toilets
I also have this one restaurant where sims keep changing into swimsuits because i put pond by the entrance and apparently that was not good idea
still keeping it though cause i like the pond

When I stopped playing that legacy, I switched over to gallery builds.
The top floor was smaller than I remember, but inexplicably had two doors leading to their second rocket.
The basement was where I shoved all the columns needed for the Mansion Baron aspiration.
If you look closely at the interior, you can see the curtains and windows that came with the rooms. I played entirely walls down and was completely oblivious to their existence.
I also always forget to play test. I don't use MOO on my interiors, just for landscaping, so it's not as bad of an issue as it used to be when I did use MOO.
These days I don't have much time to play, much less build, so it's been a while. If I built anything now it would probably be riddled with mistakes since I'm out of practice.
The dorm of the Boys' boarding school has two entrances. One main entrance
and the other one to the school yard.
But I had this staircase planned...
So I blocked the main entrance for the sake of the staircase and they teleported out if necessary
They mainly used the entrace to the yard anyway ^^'

And one day, while I was happily cluttering the hallway with columns,
this happened o.o'
I still have no idea what caused this. It is the highschool lot in Copperdale.
So creepy. I crushed a Sim with a column π

I went to playtest and saw all the beautiful green rot floating above the table.
Don't remember how many people downloaded it before I rushed to take it down and remove debug food {which alot of the time it says you cant delete objects so I had to do the object on a table in a one square grid room and delete the room trick ahahaha!}
This is a cleaned up, no debug, no cc version of the room-but you can imagine my 'oh no' as I playtested seeing ton of rotten food on this table LOL... FANCY
Oh no! I fell for that too when I built my CafΓ© π
I was so devastated when I revisited and the cupcakes had gone bad.
And 'only' nine, or so, years later I figured that with the 'Master Chef' aspiration reward trait the food doesn't spoil!
And then I built a cheese cellar ^^' Ah I wish I'd remembered that earlier -.-

It's more annoying to fix that in The Sims 1 and 2 though... The Sims 4 can sometimes be annoying too...
Oh my the bathrooms! Yes, this happens too when I build.
Here I built the shell first and then the rooms and it was a bit stressful because the rooms were so little and there already wasn't enough space for the pool. But I forgot the bathrooms! Argh. I ended up building them next to the pool but I'm not happy with it. I had already the plants placed there and it looked so pretty and then I had to destroy it again π But I didn't want to change the shell because it's supposed to be a cottage and left and right were the patio and the wintergarden, so...
