Not familiar with all this stuff you use now, as I always play rather close to reality. But it looks good.

    First Week of Spring:

Last summer, Lane purchased the blue cookbook and learned all of its recipes. In early winter, he purchased both the red and green cookbooks but concentrated on the tofu recipes in both books since he is a vegetarian. Sunday, Lane had time to learn the rest of the recipes in the red and green books.

As he was reading, it warmed up to 58° and the snow melted around him. He enjoyed sitting in the sun perusing his cookbooks.

He received another royalty check from the publisher for 234 Simoleons.

That afternoon, he went snorkeling in Lake Atherton near the lakeside cabin. He found a Nautilus Shell, two smoky quartz, an emerald, and a tiny space rock.
    lane_snorkeling.jpg

Monday, Lane was able to garden for the first time and decided to quit his job. Being the District Superintendent wasn't what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. He wanted to work toward other goals in his life. Lane decided to sell the Tree of Prosperity. It just took up too much space on his tiny lot.

He discovered that he had only lost one red berry bean plant to zombies. A second zombie was eating another one, but Lane was able to chase him away before he could do any damage.
    lane_gardening_again.jpg

After giving the plants a good soaking, Lane discovered a Bucktooth Butternut gnome in the garden.
    bucktooth_butternut_gnome.jpg

Tuesday, Lane was finally able to make it to the consignment shops. He consigned some gems, gem dust, his biography, and a few spare life fruits. He sold the Nautilus Shell and the space rock.

Lane went to the Spring Festival. He found a Fancy Festival Egg and asked for a kiss at the kissing booth. She laughed at him and ran off to search for eggs.
    no_kiss_for_lane.jpg

Furious at the rebuff, Lane chased her down and gave her a piece of his mind. If these two got together, it would be a volatile relationship.
    lane_chews_her_out.jpg

He was hungry, so I sent him over to the food booths. Instead of buying anything to eat, Lane ran across the park to the paparazzi to talk about himself and his personal possessions! He's an open book, for sure.

After getting a greeting card photo taken, Lane finally decided to eat a Marshmallow Bunny. Not very healthy, but it satisfied his hunger. He then used the love meter machine alone. How pathetic. Afterward, he searched for more eggs and ended the night dancing. It looks like he had a great date with himself!
    lane_dancing.jpg

That night while Lane slept, he had an uninvited visitor. Could she be Anastasia's mother?

That's just an awesome picture of Lane ... Looks like he is having a blast ... <3

So ... You have to tell me since you are wrapping up the challenge ... Have you had fun with Lane?
Is it like you kind of got to know him ... And do you see what that will be like when you put him in a game?

Everyone knows what it is like when you run into the townies in Sunset Valley ... You kind of know them.
For me ... With the 112 Day Challenge ... It's like I really know the Sims in my towns and game saves ... :D

    Reflections on Lane's Experiences:
The first time I see Lane in another game, there will be a little sadness. I wanted so badly for Lane to keep Anastasia, but that was impossible with the challenge. I may go back to a save when he was pregnant and have him keep the baby and save them both in the bin for later.

Second, I will laugh at the thought of him delaying the burglar with a mind meld so the police could capture him. Not having the brave trait was a disadvantage, but who knew that nerds could be heroes too?

Third, I will be in awe of him for recovering from a massive meteor strike. Granted, I replaced everything, rather than just rolling with it, but it was quite an experience for both of us.

When left to his own devices, his flirty trait is front and center. He would probably flirt with a fence post.

His snob trait had him constantly sending insulting texts to various friends out of the blue. Occasionally, he would then send friendly texts to the same friends.

With his added trait of Workaholic from Nerd Influence and a possible Honorary Degree in Business reward, I have no doubt that he will end up at the top of his Business career in no time. I don't know how well the gatherer trait will assist him as a townie. I don't know if the townies get gems cut and smelt metals to benefit from the added quality result.

Looking at him in the game, with his Loves to Swim trait, I can see him with the Seaside Savior LTW in Isla Paradiso. Might happen someday!

    .

    Great Recap @texansky

The Gathering Trait doesn't play so much with Story Progression (even mods) and is mostly for active Sims.
The "Loves" Traits are a bit of the same way except when they are in close proximity to something they love.

NRRAS Story Progression will almost certainly stick Lane in the Career towards CEO whether or not you are playing him actively.
His Skills in Charisma and Logic, combined with the Workaholic Trait, should also advance him in the Career quickly.

The Flirty Trait might lead you to see him getting married not long after you drop him in a game on his own.
But ... Don't be sad when you see Lane in a game ... Watch what he does and pay attention to the notices for his activities.
He'll also be in your Library Bin ... And you can always add him or play him in an active game.

As far as the few things you did to advance the Challenge ... That's just understandable, especially if it is your first.
With time and experience with the Challenges, you can figure out how to handle things in creative ways.
It's still your game and your Sims ... The Challenge is there to guide the player and keep them focused on the basics.

Glad You Have Been Having Fun ... Happy Simming!

I actually took the time to go back to the save where Lane was still pregnant and replayed it three times before he had a girl. When he had the baby in the challenge, I noted the name of the baby before he gave her up and wanted him to have a girl with the same name. I uploaded them to Mediafire.

I also created a new blog called ~texansky~ creations to showcase my personal Sims 3 creations. Each post will showcase a single item, be it a single Sim, a group of Sims, or a group of Sims with their home, residential lots, commercial lots, or worlds, and include pictures and a download link on either the Sims 3 Exchange or Mediafire.

The Douglas family and Alryne Valley are already posted. I plan to upload more Sims, households, residential lots, and commercial lots one or two at a time.

Hijacking my own story to satisfy my curiosity. After I post this, I will load the challenge and play some more. I promise. :innocent:

    Anastasia as a young adult:

I tried to get the same angle in Anastasia's picture. The chin and ears don't look similar, but the facial structure, nose, and cheekbones are nearly identical.

I updated my signature. Lane will be on display throughout the challenge. The avatar is my Simself.

Wednesday, Lane inspected his garden. His apple tree didn't recover from the harsh winter, so he planted a new one. Fortunately, he still had one perfect apple left, so he planted it. Sadly, the rest of the garden didn't survive either. (They are stuck on Harvest, but no option to Harvest is available.) He disposed of all of the plants except the two perfect red berry bean plants in hopes they will recover later in the spring. He's not holding out much hope.

Lane purchased the business tower and invested in then bought out the stadium. He took a trip to Smuggler's Cove and invested in the criminal warehouse. He didn't have enough funds to purchase the property outright.

After reducing his bank account to 26,000 Simoleons, Lane returned to the festival and played horseshoes with Eli Stover. Eli got a ringer on his last shot and won the game. Guillermo Arnett played alone in the next pit.
    lane_loses_horseshoes.jpg

Lane spent the evening wandering around town taking pictures and browsing the web on his phone. He ended the day with a midnight swim at the pool before going home.
    lane_swimming.jpg

It was a foggy night when he got home and went to sleep in the tent.

Fortunately, Lane mastered gardening during the summer and has three life fruits and three deathfish for the Ambrosia. The only things I would plant and grow right now are red berry beans and garlic because they are good money-makers and can be bought in the store.

The conclusion of Lane's first week of spring:

Due to the heavy rain during the night, Lane did not need to do anything with the garden, so he went to the diner for breakfast. Then he went to the school to teach a logic class. He had the wish to join the Gardening career, so he cut through the park to City Hall to fill out the paperwork. He was stressed from teaching the class, so Lane went to the library to play games on the computer.
    lane_relieving_stress.jpg

The rain let up by mid-afternoon, so Lane went scuba diving. He then took a trip around town collecting gems and metals. He sent the metals away to be smelted and went to the elixir store to cut the gems and consign them.

Friday morning, Lane collected the metals from the mailbox and found two Mr. Mysterious Gnomes as well. He sold them. After paying the bills and selling the metals, he went to the grocery store to purchase some garlic and red berry beans. He went home and planted them.
    spring_planting.jpg

Just as he finished, Gayle Basham called to chat. Lane wanted to visit the spa, so he got a deep tissue massage. He became a partner at the equestrian center and then ran across the street to the art studio to paint. Feeling ambitious, he chose a medium canvas. He almost fell asleep on his feet, so he went home and went to bed early.
    asleep_on_his_feet.jpg

Saturday morning, Lane awoke to snow. Despite the light ground cover, he was still able to water and weed the garden. He then went to the coffeehouse for breakfast and checked his finances. He didn't yet have enough Simoleons to buy out the other partners at the equestrian center.

After breakfast, Lane did a cardio workout to Richard Sims on the TV at the gym. He then went for a jog and finished his workout with a swim back at the gym.

Lane became friends with the subject of his book, Bianca Davila. Creepy that he followed her into the bathroom at the gym to talk.
    lane_making_a_friend.jpg

It was too cold to snorkel or scuba dive, so Lane played games on his tablet. Tired of apples, he heated up a can of vegetable soup at the gym. He had a wish to find a shell and explore an underwater cave, but the weather hadn't been cooperating. At 9:30, he headed for home.

Lane received some gifts from admirers, which he sold for 2,000 Simoleons. Due to his spring planting, he received another Bucktooth Butternut which sold for 1,000 more.

    Spring - Week 2

Lane awoke Sunday morning to a dormant garden and had a wish to paint, so he decided to finish the painting he had started Friday evening. He finished it, sold it for §86, and started another painting. He painted until his stomach was growling and went across the street to the gym and grabbed some juice for breakfast.

Only three more weeks of spring and it wasn't getting any warmer, still under 50°. Lane was anxious to be able to snorkel and scuba dive again. After checking himself out in the bathroom mirror, Lane decided to get pumped by lifting weights.
    pumping_iron.jpg

He returned to the criminal warehouse and purchased the building from the other partners.

Monday morning, Lane had breakfast at the diner. When he finished eating, he wandered out back to rummage through the dumpsters. He found a dining chair, a pill bug, a breakfast table, and a computer desk. Selling these treasures netted him §458.

After a much-needed shower, Lane decided it was warm enough to snorkel in the lake in hopes of finding some shells. After an hour or so, he spotted a Nautilus shell in the murky bottom. During his exploration of the bottom of Lake Atherton, Lane increased his scuba diving skills.

Tuesday morning it was snowing again. Lane chose to sit in the cold and read The Mummy in Love on his tablet. After using the outhouse, he sent an insulting text to Heidi Doherty. He then sat back down to read Out of the Wastelands of Your Heart. He sent an insulting text to Sara Joy Lestat. He's really on a roll being a jerk today.

After an apple for breakfast, he went to the art studio to paint. The snow had turned to heavy rain, so he was glad to remain indoors. He spent the whole day painting and increased his skills. It was very late when he headed home.

Wednesday morning, he got a phone call from Bianca before he even had a chance to eat breakfast. When he concluded the call, he had an apple. He was able to harvest apples, but the red berry bean plants were still dormant. He spent most of the day streaming videos, browsing the web, and reading. It had rained for several hours, leaving the ground soggy.

Sims Floral dropped off a couple of floral arrangements for Lane from Bianca Davila. He placed them on either side of his chair.
    floral_gifts.jpg

Lane wished to catch a great fish, so he wandered over to Lake Atherton and cast his rod into the water. His first catch was a perfect goldfish, fulfilling his wish. He fished until 6:00 and then went to the bistro for dinner.
    lanes_perfect_goldfish.jpg

When Lane finished his dinner, he went to the library to transfer the profits from his business investments to his bank account. They amounted to §62,400. Afterward, he read Future Spy until it was time to leave.
    lane_reading.jpg

Thursday morning, Lane tended the garden, picking more apples. He paid the bills of §43. He received a letter from Gayle and a painting from Anitra which he sold for §400.

He went to the bistro and checked to see if they had any diving opportunities. They wanted him to find two sea urchins. Since the bistro didn't open until 11:00, he went to the diner for breakfast. And of course, he went around back to check the dumpsters for treasures.
    lane_dumpster_diving.jpg
He found a rug, a dining chair, a towel ring, and a Japanese beetle. After showering at the gym, Lane went to the art studio to finish his painting, which he sold for §99.

Lane found a jewelry-making station at the art studio. He googled it and found he could smelt metals on it. He decided to wander around the valley and find some metals to try it out on. He searched the town and found some gems, metals, and space rocks, then went home to sleep.

The next morning, Lane continued his quest for metals by wandering further out in the valley, checking the beach, the abandoned farmhouse, the abandoned mine, and other remote areas. After lunch, he went to the art studio and smelted the metals he had collected. It took about five hours to finish them all. He had the space rocks analyzed and sold them for §516.
    smelting.jpg

He went to the elixir shop and consigned the metals. By the time he was finished with the consignment specialist, it was 10:00, so he went home to sleep without cutting the gems. He would have to return the next morning.

Saturday, he woke up early with the desire to go fishing. He caught a salmon and his first lobster. He tended the garden and harvested apples and red berry beans. He sold his harvest for §1060 at the grocery store on his way to the elixir shop to cut his gems. Once cut, Lane discussed consigning the precious gems with the consignment specialist.
    cutting_gems.jpg

As he was in such a hurry to cut his gems, he failed to take a shower, so he dropped by the gym to use the facilities. It was a dreary, rainy day, so Lane decided to have a hot bowl of vegetable soup. After lunch, he went across the street to the art studio to paint his first large canvas.

While painting, Lane received a text from the elixir store. He had sold some of his consigned items for §115,928. Of course, there were the consignment fees of §6,074 which had been collected. They deposited §109,864 directly into his bank account. The most expensive item sold was Supernovium for §55,790.

At bedtime, Lane was half-finished with his painting, so he left it for another day. He was very pleased with his current work of art. He was anxious to finish it.

    Third Week of Spring:

It rained heavily all night, so Lane awoke to a very soggy yard Sunday morning. Worried about lightning, Lane harvested the apple tree as quickly as possible. He did not want to be outside in this weather for long. The spring was half over. Lane didn't know if or when he would get to explore an underwater cave. He wanted to go scuba diving to see if he could open the chest he found at the dive site just as his air was running low. With this weather, that would have to wait.
    harvesting_apples.jpg

The Tiberium he had placed in his yard to grow had matured. He sold it for §39,744. He collected the mail, finding letters from Bianca, Sara Joy, and Anitra. Bridget had sent him a gift. After selling the gifts and his dumpster finds, he was §477 richer.

Wanting to finish his painting, he quickly ate some lettuce and an apple and headed to the art studio. He increased his painting skills in the process. Lane was sad to part with the island scene but had no wall to hang it on. He sold it for §172.

He visited with the Arnett family at the art studio and then headed to the equestrian center to negotiate a buy-out of the other investors. When they had reached an agreement, he went to the science center and made a very generous offer to buy the facility outright. At the end of his ventures, he had §57,269 left in his bank account.

Happy with his investments, Lane went back to the art studio to start another painting. He knew he wouldn't finish it in three hours, but he could make some progress before it was time to go to bed. When he got home, there was frost on the ground. He hoped his plants would survive the night.

Monday morning it was 36° and the ground and garden were covered in frost. Lane went to the coffeehouse for breakfast and had a big stack of pancakes with raspberry syrup and a pot of coffee with cream. He stopped by the library to transfer his investment profits of §83,600 to his bank account before returning to the art studio to work on his latest painting. The recent cold snap inspired this chilly landscape. It sold for §419.
    chilly_painting.jpg

The elixir store texted Lane, informing him they had deposited §3,771 into his account for his latest sales.

At 8:00, Lane walked over to the gym to have a green salad for dinner and use the facilities before heading home. He had a big day ahead tomorrow, as he planned to search for gems, ore, and space rocks. He went home, paid the bills of §38, and crawled into his tent to sleep.

Well, Lane awoke Tuesday morning to a downpour, so his excursion would have to be delayed. He decided to paint something. Lane was glad he was indoors, as there was a lightning strike right outside the window in the art studio courtyard. This brilliant painting was sold for §313.
    outer_space_painting.jpg

With warmer weather in the forecast suitable for scuba diving, Lane decided to work out at the gym. He ran on the treadmill, increasing his athletic skill.
    lanes_workout.jpg

Lane found a letter and a gift in the mail from Anitra. He sold the gift and went to bed.

Wednesday, Lane awoke late and found the temperature had climbed to 68°, so he went scuba diving and caught a lot of marine life. He was able to open the chest and received several treasures including §5,000 and a Mariner Gnome. He enjoyed the warm weather, just hanging out on the beach and playing in the water until bedtime.

Thursday, Lane searched high and low for gems, metals, and space rocks. Exhausted but pleased with his haul, he went to bed late.

Having eaten little the day before, Lane awoke ravenous. He was in no mood to deal with the apple tree and headed directly to the diner for the full-meal breakfast. He left a generous tip for the wait staff and hurried to the art studio to smelt the metals he had found. Then it was off to the elixir shop to cut the gems.

By the time he consigned all of his items at the elixir store, it was 8:00 and he was ready for dinner. He went to the bistro and had their Vegetarian Lobster Thermador. The chef reminded him that Lane was to provide them with sea urchins. Lane had only collected one so far. He would need to go diving again to see if he could catch the second one.

After a shower, Lane cleaned up the lot and went to bed.

Saturday morning, it was 55° at 8:00, so Lane went scuba diving after eating an apple.
    lane_diving.jpg

While depressurizing from his dive, Lane did some painting until bedtime.

    The Final Week of Spring:

Sunday, Lane had a day of rest. After gardening, he played an online social game, and then read The Mummy in Love. After lunch at the diner, he went to the art studio to paint until dark and gained a level in painting.

Monday morning, after eating an apple and some lettuce, Lane pulled out his tablet to read, you guessed it! The Mummy in Love. After paying the bills and getting the mail, Lane went scuba diving. He managed to catch enough sea urchins to fulfill the order to the bistro. After delivering his catch, he went to the art studio to paint.

Eliza Arnett called and requested that Lane write a biography on her.

Tuesday, Lane tended the garden and went in search of some space rocks as he had a desire to analyze a number of them. He went to the elixir shop and cut the gems he found, then to the art studio to smelt the metals. He only found one space rock. Lane went downstairs to paint some more.

On Wednesday morning, he went to the science center to donate the insects he had found, then returned to the elixir shop and consigned his finds. Afterward, he went to the library to write his biography on Eliza Arnett. He finished it late that evening and will receive royalties of §498 for Eliza's biography, and §732 for both biographies.

Early Thursday morning, Lane went snorkeling until it started to rain. That evening, he was invited to Eliza Arnett's home for a formal party celebrating the release of her biography. He gifted her the first edition. She was very appreciative.

After the party, Lane visited the beach and was able to locate enough space rocks to fulfill his wish. He went home and worked on making the shower self-cleaning. He didn't finish as he was too tired. When he emerged from the shower to go to bed, it was snowing.

Friday, the ground was covered in snow, and the garden was dormant. He went to the coffeehouse and had the Sim Slam for breakfast. While eating, he realized he had not collected his profits for the week so he headed to the library. §83,600 was transferred to his bank account.

As it was too cold to do anything outdoors, Lane went to the art studio to paint. While painting, Lane reflected on the not-so-secret admirers in his life, Anitra, Sara Joy, Gayle, Bridget, and Eliza. While he appreciated all of their gifts, he really didn't have a strong desire to date any of them.

    Saturday, 24 Hours To Go:

When Lane got up, he harvested the apples and watered the tree. The rest of the garden was still dormant. He disposed of the garden and recycled the newspaper. When the lot was cleaned up and returned to its original condition, Lane went to visit Eliza Arnett to see if she would allow him to use the kitchen.

After maxing their friendship, he made some cheese tofu steak and received a notification that Eliza was having a party. As the guests arrived, they went straight for the food he had made. Lane then made a plate of ambrosia. At 6:15 PM, Lane ate the ambrosia.

He had a wish to give Eliza a gift, so he gave her his tablet. He then went to the art studio to paint one more painting, increasing his painting skills.

After he sold the last painting, he sold everything in his inventory but kept one death flower. Then he went to the library and sold his fixed assets.

In the wee hours of Sunday morning, the first day of summer, Lane completes his challenge and is ready for whatever life throws at him.

Awesome Job With Lane ... And Glad You Had Fun With The Challenge!
Lane should prove to be interesting when added to a town or active save.

In retrospect, as you obviously got the ideas and concepts of the challenge, you can most certainly adapt it some.
I initially put the lot size restrictions in to keep Challengers focused on doing many things.
Once a player understands that the object is not to plant an entire 60x60 lot with a garden, then you can adapt.

I personally had to get away from the smaller lots for two reasons.
The first reason was the focusing issue, and the second was the desire to leave the Challenger almost broke when moving in.
Most of the other rules basically just keep the Challenge on track and prepare the Sim for later games.
They become a valuable asset in your collection of Sims in the Library.

It's okay to offer Community lots that add some depth to the Challenger ...
And to the finished product, as long as it doesn't interfere or become less challenging.
I tend to enjoy the stories that come out of most Challenges.

Anyway ... Excellent Job and Happy Simming!
