Hello I just thought that I would post links here to the bunnies artwork that AIRIS6962 very kindly used in her Happy Easter build. Also I will post a link to another Easter room I uploaded today. All my artwork are NOCC.
I haven't posted anything for a bit...but I'm looking for feedback...constructive of course...here is the room I did for the One Week One Room One Theme Challenge
One thing to consider when designing a room is how it would look to the sims inside it. Take those fountains, for instance. To get a good look at them, a sim would have to be standing next to that fence. Fountains are generally meant to be seen, and these fountains can't be seen well by the sims in the room. Imagine if it was real life- getting higher bills from using more electricity and water for a fountain that won't be visible to people unless they're going out of their way to look at the fountain.
That's not to say you can never use a fence or half wall in front of a fountain- I'm sure you could get some really cool effects by doing just that. you just want to make sure that they're still visible.
Making those fountains more visible to the sims inside the room would improve it.
___
Another consideration, related to the last one, is practicality. Sure, the sims don't actually interact with most decorative objects in any way, but incorporating a bit of realism in builds is a good way to enhance them.
Let's think about the herb racks behind the bookshelf. What would it be like to have those in a place like that IRL? They're clearly much too high for a sim to reach without standing on top of something, which is pretty inconvenient, but people might not mind the inconvenience of having to climb onto something every once in a while to have a nice decoration. Say, a painting: that's just going to hang there and look pretty most of the time. An herb rack, though: if those herbs are meant to be used at all, it would be very tedious to have to climb up and get the herbs down or hang new ones up, or use some kind of long hook to move them. Even if it's purely decorative and the herbs aren't going to be used, they'll dry up and need to be replaced eventually, unless they're fake plastic herbs or something like that. Having fake plastic herbs on the wall seems odd and not the sort of thing people usually do (though it could be totally appropriate for a deliberately odd sim/family). Even fake herbs will gather dust and need to be replaced or cleaned eventually, and it seems like a lot of work for such a small decoration. Having the racks at sim height would look a lot more natural.
I do want to say that none of these are rules you should always follow and a build is automatically bad if it doesn't- people can create amazing builds by doing unusual things. A fountain that's been deliberately hidden for no obvious reason could be an interesting addition to a horror-themed build, while having an herb rack far too high on a wall for a sim to reach on their own could help imply that a sim or family is weird, or that a giant lives in their house, etc. It's about deliberately creating implications, whether mundane and everyday (this is a cozy, rustic living room for a family of four), unusual (this sim's bedroom shows she has an obsession with plumbobs) or fantastical (a wizard lives in this house with his pet dragon)
I build stuff and I'm always open for constructive criticism, so feel free to do that
April Starter is a very nice home! @illusie The exterior design, wall textures and white flowers either sides of the front steps looks very nice! Very nice layout and furnishing of the interior. The blue and brown colour scheme is very nice, I have posted about your home on your showcase thread.
Thankyou very much for your very kind words about my artwork ! @luckyheather
Diamonds and Gold is a very lovely and elegant bedroom! The gold , white and black colour scheme is very nice! Very nice white marble flooring! The furnishing of each nook area looks great! Very creatively great design of the bedhead area! The patterned floor rugs are a nice touch. Very nice sitting areas for relaxing and having a drink from the globe bar,
It is a very stylish bedroom!:)
My pleasure @rosemow your art is always lovely
Thanks for commenting on my Diamonds and Gold bedroom, I did have fun trying to get the look I wanted, its sort of glamour and jungle themed to tie in with Earth Day
A Penthouse I made for myself and a friend to use whenever we felt like playing the sims and not stay in CAS all day. But that friend of mine asked me to share it on the gallery since people might like it. Of course I never planned on releasing this so I didn't limit myself to any of the Packs used so I went with any object that worked. That's why there is a ridiculous line of Packs used in this lot. Sorry, but please enjoy~!
Very lovely penthouse! @Heaveness The furnishing and layout of the interior is very nice, and great outdoors areas! Very nice glass roof area for Sims to enjoy doing yoga in the sunlight. Very nice outdoors living and dining patio! Sims will enjoy cooking on the grill and eating the meals at the umbrella covered table with very nice views! Very nice sofa seats sitting nook on the patio! It is great that there is a basketball court! Very nice outdoor chess and painting nooks.
It is a lovely and very detailed home with many activities that Sims can enjoy doing in their home
Thank you @rosemow for the lovely analysis. You definitely hit the nail on its head perfectly. It was meant for myself and a friend to use for fun so I created a sim to compliment the penthouse.
Here he is~ He used to be a football(soccer) player for his country but a leg injury made him retire early and now he lives his life as a musician. He is super chill about things and doesn't regret anything.
Thanks @meowcatmeowkitty ... very valid points... and I did ask for feedback. Thank you.
You're welcome. I do want to say you have some cool ideas and I definitely think you're improving, looking at some of your slightly older builds, since I might have come across as overly harsh. I certainly don't mean to drag anyone down. Regardless of skill level, everyone's learning and that's great, and I'd like to help that process
I build stuff and I'm always open for constructive criticism, so feel free to do that
Here's a little something-something I built for fun.
It's called Cresent Outdoor Lounge in case you want to find it in the gallery. Also, this did require using bb.showhiddenobjects so I could find the bathroom.
Crescent Outdoors Lounge is very nice! @nerdfashion Very nice design of the build! Very nice bar stool counter and outdoors dining areas! Sims will enjoy sitting on the stools at the bar or at the umbrella covered table, having a drink from the bar and a chat with family members or friends,They will enjoy listening to the piano music being played
Thanks @meowcatmeowkitty ... very valid points... and I did ask for feedback. Thank you.

Thanks for saying that... I was a little down ... I'm still learning what I can and can't do to make what I want. I might start to go back and refurb my older builds to make them better. I've learned a lot since those early days. lol.
@luckyheather ... I love your diamonds and gold room ... I have a builder question...how did you get the lights behind the wall sculpture. I didn't think we could do that.

Thanks If you mean those golden mesh looking ones (Das Mesh) from 'Perfect Patio' they sit away from the wall not flush with it so I usually add a light to them I use moveobjects all time I build Oh an often make lights smaller.
@jeswainston65, one of the easiest way of learning how builders did something is often to download the build and deconstruct it. Pick up unfamiliar objects to see what they are and what packs they came from. You can learn a lot by deconstructing a build you like.
Kids Cottage Garden is a very pretty and cute Easter garden bedroom ! @luckyheather It looks such a happy and cheerful place for kids to sleep and play! Lovely colours used in the room, and the white walls is nice to be a great background colour that showcases the items that is placed on them very well. The flowers are very pretty on the walls! It is very nice and special that you have used wallart from a number of simmers Thankyou very much for using my wallart! I have posted about your room on your showcase thread.
@rosemow your artwork is very lovely and springy! Beautiful work my friend! @illusie your April Starter home is so very lovely! So much detail and beauty! @luckyheather splendid use of gold color in your Diamonds and Gold, very lovely room! @Heaveness your penthouse is very lovely and nice detail all around, glad you decided to share with us! Your sims is very handsome also! @nerdfashion, your Cresent Outdoor Lounge is very lovely! @luckyheather your Kids Cottage Garden is super cute and lovely, the spring colors are so adorable!
