It's Nostalgia time! TS1 TS2 TS3 memories!

«13
Not sure where to post this, so I will just drop it here:

The idea is to share ANY memories you have with previous sims games that make you go: Ooooh that was so great! I miss that! I want it back, i totally forgot about that cool thing etc.
It could be a feature you loved, something that you will always remember a certain Sims version by, a cool item in the game that you always used to save up for, your favorite pack and why etc. Just anything related to what gives you THAT nostalgia feeling when you think of previous sims games.

RULES:

* Only post TS1, TS2 or TS3 moments, features, pics, videos etc. NO SIMS 4!
* You can post multiple memories in one post
* Don't go off topic too much
* You can continue to post as many memories as you like
* Try to find pictures or videos of what you try to post. A picture is says more than a thousand words right?!

With this I hope to share our individual memories of previous Sims games and bring them together to remember each other of awesome things we might have forgotten.

Mine are in the next comment :)

I didn't play a Sims game untill TS4. But. I do recall seeing a lot of DLCs for The Sims 3, then I went through the ones for The Sims 2 as well.
That's about the first time I saw a single game would have that number of DLCs.

Should I paste store links here? :P

    Memory of TS1:

When you had a baby, there seemed to be a limited time for you to type in the babies name. After maybe a minute or so, the window would close down and you would never be able to name your baby again :D I am still traumatized from that and always have a few names ready.
    12.jpg

    Memory of TS2:

The car animations! The way the head lights lit up when you would enter the car and how you could just sit and listen to music or drive around for fun. (Sorry for the bad quality video though)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDrFf4D1KOg

    Memory of TS3:

When sims could do things like picnicking, swimming in the ocean, going to the beach, fish wherever they like and play tag. These were time fillers that didn't require (much) money and gave a little realism to the game for me.

Sure why not. maybe others can have benefit in them and it's nice to see what DLC caught your attention for previous games.

This is one of my fond memories of Sims 3. This is Orianna, she was the second Matriarch in my 100 baby challenge that I completed. She was my favorite and wish I had a couple better pictures so I could recreate her for 4. Sadly, this is the only picture I have found.

So here's from Sims 3. This is what happens when the mother in your family is a werewolf, but her husband and son are both human.

    Io0CHHb.jpg

Husband and kid both pass out, and their loving family member laughs. (To be fair, I was laughing too.)

Oh my gosh, this is my speciality.

First thing that comes to mind is the danger stings from 1. If you've played, you can hear what I'm talking about. For the uninitiated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Il5aZhYy8E - the burglar/El Bandito one would scare the life out of me when I would play alone in the dark! But now I kind of miss it. I'm warped.

Sims 2... honestly, everything about it is nostalgic to me, but the biggest thing has to be the memory system. The first time I found it, I was stunned and spent ages poring over every pre-made's memories and biographies. Every sim felt so incredibly fleshed out and detailed.

When I discovered House Of Fallen Trees in 2, I was amazed. I bought Nightlife on release day (as I did with every Sims game up until about a year and a half into 3) and didn't know you could live in Downtown until much later. The house has always struck me as mysterious and I love the subtle lighting quirk.

And secret societies from University in 2! That was another thing that blew my mind.
Bring back the Paranormal career already.

Ok, first of all, I apologize for the Photobucket watermark on these. I haven’t looked at my TS2 screenshots in so long.

I really miss posing Sims for pictures with the camera. (I know we have the pose player now, but I miss it actually being in the game.

Also, this might seem inconsequential but...I really miss this screen when Sims were giving birth...it was so nice to know how many babies were coming before typing in a name.

I have no nostalgia for sims 3. Sims 2 however. oh I wish I had kept pictures from that game. I used to love designing clothes for my sims in the Sims 2 and seeing my sims wearing the things I made for them.

I don't have a picture of it, but back in the original Sims, babies were a real pain for two reasons. One if you didn't get them to stop crying the Social Worker would come and whisk them away, and two the burglar would love stealing babies because it was viewed as an item instead of a person. Every night I would send the parents to bed (baby slept in the same room), I would move the bedroom doors away so no one could enter the bedroom. Thinking back now it would have been just easier to do this with the outside door instead. lol

But I do have pictures of these.

I'll never forget the first time I played the sims on ps2. I went in, created a sim, entered the house and a lightbulb went off. I tried to change it and my sim died.... Shortest game session ever.

I don't have photos anymore, but the most hilarious and well embarrasing memory is from the sims 1 in ps2 or was it ps1 ? Well, you had to do quests to pass to another stage as it was with some sort of story? But I didn't know any english, so at the first home where my sim was taken, was to live with a mother... but for so long I didn't have a clue, who was this old woman so i even ended up trying to have romantic relationship between them. 😵

One of my favorite memories from Sims 2. This was just after I installed NightLife. My sim couple was was about to get married in their back yard, friends and neighbors all around. As everyone was socializing before the vows, all of a sudden Emilio RUNS away from the festivities and disappears down the street. When I catch up to him he's chatting to some random townie I've never seen before. And that's how I found out about the new chemistry system and what a triple lightning strike means. What a dandy way to start a marriage!

@SiliClone reminded me of the very first time I played The Sims on the PS2 console. In my very first time playing that game, I sent my sim in to fix the broken TV, and not bother with gaining a few handiness skills. That poor sim got royally fried, and it was game over for me. My very second attempt, she caught what she was cooking, on fire, it was a real mess.

I found another from Sims 2 that I had done in a storyboard. Nina Caliente (green jacket) decided to poke fun at a very powerful witch, but the witch got the last laugh in the end.

I used to love torturing the Newbies in the tutorial every time I had to reinstall TS1. It was always so much fun, it almost felt like a holiday or something.

I would always make them fight, and torture Bob until he got mad and left. Watching him stalk off with that indignant hankie on the "I'm mad" stick never failed to give me a good laugh.

Then Betty got to remodel the house to her satisfaction and start a life as an Independent Lady.

    I still love doing it.

Considering the gist of this thread is to have no Sims 4 content, I've moved it to the Sims 3 area, just as you want content from Sims, Sims 2 and 3 respectively. I may move this again if there's a better place and I'll update this post to reflect that  carry on

I remember when I'd first gotten the Sims 2 version of witches with Apartment Life, I created a sim who was just a little... different. She wormed her way into my heart because she'd do the most unexpected things just randomly. For years, I thought it was only her who did the one that got me the most because I'd only ever seen that one sim do it...She'd get in the empty bath tub and pretend to be diving and swimming. It was adorable. It was years before I ever saw another single sim do it, now it happens a lot. :)

Not an actual memory of TS1 itself but I remember playing with my then toddler son sitting on my lap :) Now he's a cheeky 18 year old and I miss that cute and curious toddler very much ;)

I don't remember ever taking any pics of TS1 but I did take many in TS2. Unfortunately they are long gone as I have moved back to Australia in recent years. I probably have them on a thumb drive somewhere but I doubt it as I was fully immersed in TS3 by then.

I have wonderful memories from both 1 through 3 but, for the life of me, can't think of anything specific just yet.

I have never played Sims, Sims 2 or Sims 4 and am still playing Sims 3 so I don't have any nostalgic memories of the game itself so much as nostalgic memories of individual games played. I have played a different game that had some similarities but that gave me a better appreciation for Sims 3.

I appreciate how the mesh of the cloths adjusts automatically to any change of the sim's body. I love CASt for clothes, furnishings and building parts. I love open world and that it's a sandbox with no forced way to play. I love the ability to change a sim, a lot, a town and the customization of game play through options and how Sims 3 is open to modifications for more control of game play.

Some pictures of what I like about Sims 3:

I can use a customized skin to create my own sim
    JqmNSAC.jpg

or I can modify an existing one
    QajGGYZ.jpg
    Jamie Jolina, before and after

I can build my own residential lot and place on a new lot in a town
    CeK0Oiq.jpg
    CPBJuw2.jpg

or I can modify an existing lot
Jamie Jolina's house before and after
    50yG3VN.jpg
    TKJi28l.jpg
    O1aibLe.jpg
    NiigNKc.jpg

Because we can create our own towns we get custom worlds by creative simmers such as Cape Garner Islands by Johnnywr
    P0wrltL.jpg

Late Night was a fun expansion that introduced vampires. Because of a custom mod my Vladimir Schlick remake can teleport at night and arrive in a cloud of bats
    1j0uK01.jpg

Love the horses from the Pets expansion
    5Ct5YjS.jpg

but other animals are fun too.

Seasons is my favorite expansion, winter is my favorite season.
Winter in my customized version of Riverview

    winter in Cape Garner Islands
    x5Us92m.jpg

Love the self employed professions - painter, gardener, equestrian, etc
    YunUboh.jpg

There is a lot more that I appreciate about Sims 3 but that's all for now.

    Last post about this.

Love the music. Now when I am in a current game and I hear certain music a feeling of past games washes over me and I do get nostalgic for the joy of new discoveries then. Even the music when first creating a sim or moving a household in to start a game I get that bitter-sweet feeling of nostalgia.
