I miss the little things that made the game more difficult to play - like Miss Crumpelbottom breaking up cuddling in the hot tub and most of all I miss the struggle to get my kids into a private school. Decorating, cooking something really fancy and then keeping the conversation with the principal interesting, was really challenging!
Then comes to mind bathing babies and having to use a changing station. Oh, and the different skill helpers - that fun thing they could wear on their heads to gain skills - or become crazy - was a must have. And I never got bored using the machine for the medical career...
@jillbg I loved trying to get my sims into private school. I remember you had the option to take the principal on a tour around the house. Having a timer on things makes me stressed, that was one of the things I didn't like about going out on dates. But I suppose it was pretty realistic. One of the interactions I loved doing on dates was having my sims propose while having dinner. Then making out in the car
@coco Oh yes! All the car interactions were so much more realistic, even just opening the door to get inside... And holding hands during dinner was also a neat feature. So much more realistic than TS3 just sitting down side by side, or at separate tables! Sheesh...
If only EA had kept the TS2 interactions, adding the TS3 ones and the open world and, of course, CASt...
I only started playing the Sims 3 in 2014, never played Sims or Sims 2 before that.
However, I have very fond memories of nearly my whole family (my dad, my two siblings and I) playing Simcity and Simcity 3000 somewhere in the early 1990ies, you know, when the whole game fit on one 3 1/2 inch floppy disk.
We all had different save files with different cities, cheating was terribly frowned upon, so we all regularly went bankrupt. When a city unexpectedly thrived, it got boring when you got those really fancy skyscrapers.
Does that count?
(Actually, some of the mechanismen of building terrain and stuff were really similar to those in CAW. And I think, the obsession with Llamas started there.)
@Waterdragon I lost a lot of time playing Simcity and later Simcity 2000 and 3000! Although my husband got me into the Sims by buying the first game for me, he got the idea because we were Simcity players and he knew how much I enjoyed that.
The Sims, by far, IMO, had the BEST soundtrack. The build mode piano music was so peaceful and easy to build to and I just like the instramentals of the whole soundtrack.
Here are a few. The playlists has quite a bit more, if you like them.
