Aw, You are correct @Goodywood - On that spreadsheet's "all" tab that shows my install, it is of course missing those items I don't own. So, on the other tabs that include promotions, like DrPepper, and all the single items... if it doesn't include the size of the file, then you'll need to install them. Also, be careful of the Prius/Twizy sets that you asked after earlier if you have Twizy/Zoe Renault vehicles as well and need to install them.

Sorry, I was watching NetFlix today.
Oh good! I now know what to do then.
As for the Twizy, I download the individual car by itself as you did in EBC number 7. I will be careful not to download it again, though I'm not only downloading the individual items , and maybe a couple of promo stuff like Dr Pepper.
I'm almost done! After this I have to organize my CC downloads.
Thank you! And please enjoy your Netflix!
PLEASE FIX TEENS IN TS4! I NEED YOUNGER TEENS NOT YA TEENS! (^_^)Please add Music Bands with lead singers! Please add vehicles and garages! Vehicles have always been part of The Sims.
I'm so glad you are almost done with the store install. It's a great feeling to be done and safely backed up. What a great holiday gift to yourself! Merry, merry Christmas.
After putting this off for years... finally getting around to it.
I already have somewhat of a backup but it's a bit of a mess. Hopefully, I can manage this. Just focused on worlds tonight and will do more later. Thanks to your thread + spreadsheet @ciane and @ZeeGee for the YT video.
@ciane This is an incredible & valuable resource to a lot of us here! I don't post at all, and I only found this post via Google because I was reinstalling S3.
I just can't wrap my head around how much time (and pure focus) this must have taken you? What a true labor of love!
In doing that, do you have any idea how much time you saved people like me? TONS!
I'd love to express my thanks with a gift or two - do you have a S3 wishlist or do you own the store?
(Me gifting you doesn't automatically make us "friends" on here. I've gifted before, but have no friends on here. Again, I don't usually post.)
Again, thank you for ALL of this work! It's unbelievable!
Thank you for your kind words @smokn18. I don't own the store, but I'm lacking just a few single CAS items that I really don't need (and of course some of the promotional items that I didn't get in time). So, instead get yourself that cute shaggy look for toddlers (because toddlers need more hair!)
@Valgon57 was also instrumental in gathering links directly to items that helped me complete parts of my spreadsheet that I wouldn't have been able to provide otherwise.
I did a quick re-edit of the first video tutorial to add the new information. I planned to do a complete new video when I did my Steam install the store but lost all the video footage so this is the best I can do for now given my time limitations! Here's the link:
A note for those of you who for whatever reason my links don’t work and have to search for your own. When searching for items with The in the name such as
The everyday and The Accelerator don’t write the The in the search box it confuses it , another words just write Accelerator and everyday.
Now on to the main event the last 80 links for my computer! looks like I might be able to be done before my birthday yeah!! Or if I am not able to be done installing everything at least I will definitely be done with the finding links part!
Just read through the entire thread from start to finish, WOW so much fantastic and useful information here!. I found this thread while trying to find a solution to my Mid Century Dining table and chairs not working, (They have never worked since the day I bought them from the Sims3 store). I have returned to Simming after a very long hiatus. NOW I know the reason why that particular store content has never worked, from this thread and HOW annoying that the store set was left unfixed.
As a consequence I became totally immersed in this thread. I also now know why so much stuff never seems to be in game. I own the whole store apart from Lunar Lakes and a few bits n pieces of clothing/hair. I just thought it was me having SO MUCH stuff but not the patience to sift through everything to find things. My store content has been re-installed many times for various reasons and it takes ages. After reading through here I checked my .ebc files...... to my horror they are all way over the 204,800kb limit the biggest is 317,615kb the smallest is 204,972kb.
You can guess where my next hours of free time is going to be invested!.
One little question. Does it matter how many individual .ebc files we have. The reason i ask is I was considering not filling each to its practical limit so maybe a few extra ones would be created by the end of the reinstall.
As a simmer that has been dedicated to Sims from the very beginning I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this thread and all the hard work invested in it.
@Starbucaneer First of all, welcome back! And to answer your question, it doesn't matter how many .ebc files you have as long as they don't go over the 204,800 number. I actually leave three of the files small because I've now got them installed in order of 'what' it is and when I'm done with that category I move to the next category leaving the last file small. Hope this helps.

Hello ZeeGee <waves>, thank you for the reply and the welcome back
I am glad that is the case as I tried to follow Cianes spreadsheet but I must be getting senile in my old age as I could not interpret it lol sooo.... I thought I would do the next best thing and re-install everything even if I get duplicates but make sure the 204800 limit was not exceeded. I am amazed in all my years of simming I had not heard of the .ebc limit. Crazy that the game installs things willy nilly and goes over that limit every time. Hopefully this will be the final re-install of all my store content as I will back up all the associated .ebc and other files as I go.
I started with the patterns and now its time to plough into the store content I have archived from the last install. At least I do not have to redownload it all. (So glad the store is still there for all the New Simmers to enjoy).
It's so daunting to start installing it all again!. At least I know this time the end result will see ALL my stuff in game
@Starbucaneer my current full store (minus a few promo items) ebc count is 28 files, previous was 30+. The difference was how I installed some of the single items this time.
Some store packs when uninstalled will go below their predicted space count others will be much larger, so the best, albeit time consuming method, is to only install content one pack/set/item at a time. It helps to move the s3pack out of the game folder into a separate save/storage spot for future use after installing. I start with the large items, then use assorted single items or small sets as filler, and managed to keep almost all of my files beetween the 200 & 204 mark.
Also watch your dccache folder, when you use the launcher if their's more than 1 .ebc file it likes to make but not delete .tmp files which slow the game down. They have to be manually removed.

Thank you for the valuable advice. That is the way I did it in the past biggest to smallest in batches but the "batches" were the key, so I thought at the time. You had to make sure a batch of package files did not exceed a certain amount. I got that info from another thread WAAAAAY back in Sims3's youth (but I did not know about the .ebc limit) so all that effort was essentially wasted lol. I will check on the temp files too.
To think all this started me down the re-install road because I really wanted my current sims house to be fully fitted with the Mid-century store sets lol
@Starbucaneer Wait! You don't need the spreadsheet to not have repeats! Ciane's original thread had all the links. I copied and pasted it into a word document, which is what I used to download and install. Let me see if I can find it.
For those of you who don't understand the spreadsheet (ME, hehe) here is the Word document where I copy/pasted all of Ciane's links from her original thread. Click Ctrl+ the link and it will open in your browser. Ignore all my highlights and strike through's and x'ed out things. That was codes for myself. When I have time later I'll take all those out and upload a clean document. Hope this helps!
Sorry my spreadsheet is so confusing. It does contain all the links and has the shortcut numbers for direst downloads as well.
I tried to color code to things for easier, but maybe colors don't help others as much as me. I also used Red and N for No, don't install if you own everything and then green and Y for Yes, do install this. There were some maybes, depending on how you want to break things up and install and what you might own or not own from the store.
The spreadsheet originally was designed to show what sets repeated items, so I could avoid the repeats (as the store would let you pay for a set at full price, even when you owned part of it).

Thanks very much ZeeGee, that is a very useful document to have thanks for sharing it. I think my poor old brain can make good use of that. (I have been too tired today to tackle re-installing so I will use that when I get stuck into the task).

Hi Ciane <waves>,Please don't apologise!! Goodness its not you, that spreadsheet is amazing!. It's me not being able to think my way through it lol. I used to be a whizz at excel. I have obviously been away from the office environment and spreadsheets for far too long lol.
(or I am going senile in my advancing years lol) probably both lol.
Maybe when I have managed to get a good nights sleep my brain will be firing on all cylinders again!.
I admire all the hard work and dedication it took to compile all the data and the links etc.

Cian's reinstalling store thread http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/866577/how-to-install-store-items/p1
Happy Simming!

Happy simming!

Happy Simming!
