Rafe and Autumn's Story
The Sphinx
Seth awakens suddenly. His heart is racing from a nightmare. He is exhausted as if he had not slept. His vision is darker, his body aches and creaks as he moves stiffening more each day as the curse takes hold. He takes out the fairy dust and lets it run between his fingers feeling some of Shea's spirit enter his. He misses her dreadfully, but he is realistic that she could not join him on this quest. He changes, getting ready for his trial.
Rafe is waiting for him, nagging him to eat. They have some of the dried foods and he tries some of the dried fruit which might be nutritious, but wasn't particularly tasteful. He doesn't really care at this point. His mouth is dry as the desert.
They work together packing up the tent as they may need it later for Seth to rest. Seth finishes searching the treasure room barely registering the golden objects and gems that are stored in the room. He discovers a pressure plate that hopefully opens the door in the room with the stairs. They backtrack to the previous room and open the now unlocked door and carefully walk down a long corridor. Luckily, no traps were found. Seth deciphers the runes on the wall next to the door at the end of the corridor. It reads: The violet path is the chosen path when air turns to water. Do not stray into pools of darkness. He looks at Rafe. "I hope that makes sense once we enter this room."
They enter a beautiful room with many fine sculptures, sarcophagi, intriguing carved and painted panels on the walls and several dive wells. Rafe's curiosity gets the best of him. While Seth explores the room, Rafe reads the panels and shares the story with Seth. The panels tell the story of the Sentinel of the Great Sphinx whose own father was cursed by a mummy and doomed to die. The Sentinel spent years studying ancient texts and prayers to find a way to cure the curse to prevent anyone else from dying such a tragic death. He devoted the remainder of his life to building the Sphinx, his chosen tomb. He did indeed learn the secrets of the curse and how to cleanse a cursed one. With his death looming he learned how to remain in the world in spirit form. As he lay dying, his eldest son, a priest to the fates, performed the ceremony to keep his spirit bound to his tomb. His body was placed in a special sarcophagus in the heart of the Sphinx. The Sphinx houses his spirit, keeps it safe from the netherworld demons, protected by the fates and the spells woven in the walls. The cursed ones must find him by solving the riddles in the tomb and prove their worthiness to be cleansed. Seth stops in his search and marvels at the story. "I am blessed that he devoted his life to finding a cure for the curse. We must hurry though."
Seth completes his survey of the room. The warning at the entry to the room makes sense now. Three of the wells are filled with dark murky waters. The fourth well's water is violet in color.
Seth strips down to his briefs once again and dives in the violet well. The waters are warm and surprising clean after the eons in a closed tomb. He is able to see easily in the depths of the well and quickly finds a lever that he hopes will open the doorway to an inner chamber. He climbs out of the well and sees Rafe standing in front of an opening that was just a wall before. The panel was hidden and opened with the lever he pulled.
They slowly travel down another long corridor and find no traps. They door at the end of the corridor is not locked and both are surprised at the next room. It looks like a large conference room with many chairs and a table. The walls are covered with panels of carved Egyptian scenes and hieroglyphic symbols. Seth looks at Rafe and asks, "Do they hold meetings in the afterlife? It looks like I need to find a star key to open that chained door. I'll get busy looking."
Seth opens a hidden door and discovers......a bath. Another hidden door opens into a very comfortable looking bedroom. He finds the star key on a table and takes it. He calls Rafe in to see his discoveries. "Well, this is an interesting set up in the tomb. He certainly wanted his creature comforts in the afterlife."
Rafe looks around the comfortable rooms. "Perhaps knowing what his father went through he knew how the cursed one would be feeling and made these rooms as a resting place on the journey."
Rafe decides this is the perfect spot for Seth to rest and calls a halt to the explorations for the evening. He can see Seth is exhausted. He has a bottle of plasma and Seth has a few pieces of dried fruit. Seth decides to take advantage of the amenities and soaks his sore muscles and stiff bones in a warm bath. He later collapses in the bed hoping for a more restful sleep without nightmares.
Shea and Autumn take the children to the village as a change of scenery. They are both trying to keep their minds on anything other than their husbands. Autumn at least can communicate with Rafe telepathically if the distance is not to far. They must be deeper in the tomb as she cannot hear him anymore.
The kids get restless wandering the market and Will calls out "beach, beach!" in his insistent autocratic tone that he inherited from his Dad. Autumn and Shea get the kids settled in the car and they enjoy the rest of the day at the oasis watching the kids play at the 'beach'.
@Springfairy556 At least Claire is being a hands-on mom. I think most women of nobility in that age dumped the kid off with a wet nurse as soon as possible.
****That was rude. Now William and Claire are going to have to go looking for a cure.

Since I'm working today, I decided to check in here. Last night I played the Farrs. I aged Barek up to toddler since I don't have room for a crib (I placed a CC toddler mat on the floor for him to sleep on). Tyler got a promotion and entered the Arena Mechanic branch of the Bot Arena career. Lydia is (finally) off maternity leave and went back to work. I had forgotten she even had a career. I have a pic of Ariel getting ready for bed.

My Sims 3 Landscape shot has just hit "Upcoming" on 500px...and rising.
Even have actual photographers hitting like. but then again, I have an established photography portfolio on 500px.
Yup not five minutes later.
If you love good photography (landscapes, wildlife, travel and others), I'd highly recommend going and taking a look at 500px (it's mostly for serious photography). Take a look around...see what it's like.

William decided not to tell Claire about his curse, he figured he'd find a way to break it without her knowing.

It just so happened that Noel, when he wasn't busy with other things, such as working on his physical fitness, continued to work on the creation of nanites and trait chips. It was necessary for the Eight to be able to continue to increase their knowledge. Any knowledge would be helpful in surviving their time in the bunker. But technology was also something that they seriously needed to be wary about. If they didn't watch themselves, they could potentially invent the means of their own demise. After all, Christian Lous Lange once stated: Technology is a useful servant; but a dangerous master.
Noel, despite his eagerness also had to balance out common sense in the creation of what trait chips he was going to utilize in each of the plumbots that he created. All it took was one plumbot developing an adverse sentience; that could spell the end of their existence. Hildegard was an amiable plumbot; armed with the Steel Chef, Competent Cleaner and Musical Machine trait chips. She usually took care of the food needs in the bunker and that allowed Phil and Autumn to take the opportunity to build up their alchemy and logic skills (by making potions). They already had eight young again potions which they were stock-piling in order to make sure that they were able to utilize them when they took the Bottled Curse of the Lycan. Noel was working his way to getting the RoBotany trait chip so that Horace could take over the gardening from Phil at least temporarily. Of course, Phil had to over do his first attempt at conjuring, and ended up passing out from exhaustion. The potions that the Eight made were quite considerable and were slowly filling up the racks and it would probably be necessary to have a supply of each. Autumn also took some time to get in some cardio workout with the TV. But life above on the surface was tough, the atmosphere was not doing anyone any favours health-wise, nor were the meteors which seemed to fall out of the sky with alarming regularity and periodically one of the sims would get hit by lightning. Making sure that the plumbots were always charged was one of the things that Noel ensured that he notified Horace and Hildegard of doing. When they were down to a third-charge they went into the rechargers. And a certain percentage of the day was spent deling with creating more nanites that Noel could utilize to create more trait chips. Considering that Haruo enjoyed music, he decided to take up the violin. Well, let's just say that he wasn't as good at the violin as he thought he was. Autumn certainly thought that his playing sounded like he was torturing a cat. Phil decided to also increase his science skill. That would enable him to help out in creating more trait-chips and conduct experiments with nanites. And perhaps they would be able to reverse-engineer some circuit boards so that higher quality trait chips could be created. Survival was ultimately in their hands and they would have to do whatever it took in order to survive till they could vacate their bunker.

It took a while, but eventually, the geiger counters started to drop in their readings and that gave Haruo and Mickey the opportunity to go topside to see what was going on. They had received information from Horace and Hildegard when they had gone topside to see what was going on, but that was a situation where they were getting information second hand. Haruo and Mickey wanted to see what was there themselves. So Mickey and Haruo got suited up in enviro-suits, positive pressurization so that any leaks would prevent biological contaminants from getting into the suit, however it wouldn't do much for radiological, other than radioactive dust, which was considered by scientists to be the most dangerous radioactive contaminant. Either way, they were going to have to have a decontamination shower when they got back. "Ready to check things out, Mickey?" Haruo asked. They were up there with Horace who would also be helping out. Haruo and Mickey were both armed: Glocks, M-16A3s and Barrett M107 .50 calibre sniper rifles... ...and they knew that they had limited time to scout around the area to see what was going on. So they hoofed it...towards what used to be the science center. Mickey looked around slowly before leaning in helmet to helmet, "I haven't seen any movement of any sort." Frankly they hadn't had any experience in this sort of thing. Which meant that it was going to get tougher as they went along. If bad guys moved into the area, they were not going to be able to fight them off. All they could do was mount a defence and hope to heck that they all survived. Or create an army of plumbots to do their fighting for them. "If I may suggest something?" Horace, his voice robotic: starting and stopping. "I believe that we should check out the perimeter of the city and see if there is anyone around. We may be able to stay out of the heaviest of the radioactively contaminated area. I will keep a constant monitoring of the radiation levels and keep you updated." "Do that..." Haruo responded, his mind was still in shock as to the extent of the devastation that Sunset Valley had been subjected to. How were they ever going to make Sunset Valley liveable again? Despite his dismay, he knew that they had their work cut out for them. They needed to make sure that life came back to Sunset Valley, even if it was 150 years from now and the potions and elixirs were going to help.
He turned to Mickey and said, "OK...we're continuing along the perimeter of the city. We're going to have to scout around, take readings, and make sure that rad levels in all areas are going down. That's the only way that we're going to be able to make certain that Sunset Valley will be a liveable area again. If not we may have to evacuate when conditions clear up enough that we can make an exit from this place. Mickey nodded. He knew too that if Sunset Valley was too radioactive, it would result in birth defects and other problems in the generations to follow and that wouldn't mean the best for the survival of the human race. "I'm with you on that, Haruo. I think we should do a thorough recon of the area and see what we can find. I'm hoping that radiation levels are coming down, but I'm not too hopeful that it'll be in the near future." The sky was a sickly dark green and many of the vegetation though growing was contaminated with radiation to the point where it was inedible. They would not be able to utilize any seeds on the surface for the long term. Their recon provided a plethora of information that when further research was revealed indicated a decrease in the radiation levels but as was suspected, it wasn't enough to warrant a laxing of their decontamination procedures. It was still in the dangerous levels. ...and that of course was still cause for concern. They would not be able to make it out of the bunker until such time as the radiation levels fell below 1 rad an hour and it certainly wasn't at that point yet.

Increasing Knowledge
It just so happened that Noel, when he wasn't busy with other things, such as working on his physical fitness, continued to work on the creation of nanites and trait chips. It was necessary for the Eight to be able to continue to increase their knowledge. Any knowledge would be helpful in surviving their time in the bunker. But technology was also something that they seriously needed to be wary about. If they didn't watch themselves, they could potentially invent the means of their own demise. After all, Christian Lous Lange once stated: Technology is a useful servant; but a dangerous master.
Noel, despite his eagerness also had to balance out common sense in the creation of what trait chips he was going to utilize in each of the plumbots that he created. All it took was one plumbot developing an adverse sentience; that could spell the end of their existence.

Chapter Seven
Recon Topside
It took a while, but eventually, the geiger counters started to drop in their readings and that gave Haruo and Mickey the opportunity to go topside to see what was going on. They had received information from Horace and Hildegard when they had gone topside to see what was going on, but that was a situation where they were getting information second hand. Haruo and Mickey wanted to see what was there themselves. So Mickey and Haruo got suited up in enviro-suits, positive pressurization so that any leaks would prevent biological contaminants from getting into the suit, however it wouldn't do much for radiological, other than radioactive dust, which was considered by scientists to be the most dangerous radioactive contaminant. Either way, they were going to have to have a decontamination shower when they got back.
He turned to Mickey and said, "OK...we're continuing along the perimeter of the city. We're going to have to scout around, take readings, and make sure that rad levels in all areas are going down. That's the only way that we're going to be able to make certain that Sunset Valley will be a liveable area again. If not we may have to evacuate when conditions clear up enough that we can make an exit from this place.
