I just can't believe they went ahead with releasing the SP at all. I thought for sure they would stop the marketing, readjust, and release a more thought-out pack. But no. They didn't take any sort of constructive criticism whatsoever. It's borderline insulting. People on this forum had wonderful ideas to rectify the situation that would've worked for both producer and consumer.
A global multibillion dollar company isnt going to change their marketing over a small vocal group. You do realize that Sims has millions of fans, and we basically have a couple dozen folks who are just being vocal about it.A(Seriously, look on reddit or here, its essentially the same small group of people) Its peanuts. My wife? She saw a new SP came out today, instabuy. She doesnt read the forums, she doesnt care about the drama. She doesnt even talk to other people about the sims, she just plays the game. $10 to her (Well its my money but) means nothing. its like going to the store for some snacks.
Small group? Did you see how many people criticized this on Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit etc.? The statement by @LiELF that @NickSims tweeted got over 350 retweets and over 900 likes.
Sure when the internet forms a mob, it forms a mob, but in the big scheme of things? Couple thousand dislikes over millions of players?(Even 10s of thousands really) Most of which btw, no nothing of this drama or even frequent any of those social media or communities? Sims Reddit has a whole 80k. a post gets retweeted by ~1000 people. So in the terms of the playerbase versus the mob yeah its kind of a small group. And part of that mob mind you, is the EA hate train that just jumps along for the ride anytime they get a chance to hat eon EA, regardless of what its about. They didnt like EA to begin with.
Sure, those numbers aren’t representative, but I wouldn’t assume that everybody who’s critical of the pack also voices their opinion publicly. The only reliable data would be sales revenue.
But it’s certainly more than a “few dozen people” who are upset. I don’t understand why you’re trying to downplay other people’s opinions.
I said a few dozen people here and on reddit. Much like drake here, who has spent much of his time complaining about this pack. (While most of us just keep playing the game and getting on with our life)
I’ll ask again, do you have any legitimate data to support this or are you making these statistics up again? (Like when you claimed it would be easy to find whatever in Sims 3 then refused to follow through......) You throw out “facts” and then follow them up with guesses that YOU make. Then you gotta name drop, to deflect away from the actual topic at hand.
You aren’t playing the freaking game. You aren’t now, you weren’t the other day, you are here looking to pick fights with people who are providing feedback. If anyone needs to get on with their life it’s you, since you have made it clear you love this pack yet still frequent threads basically setup to house complaints about it.
Why don't you come up with your evidence for the outrageous claims you keep making? Where is your irrefutable evidence they stripped items from an EP to sell as a SP? I dont need data for sales numbers, simple logic works well, when we know how many Sims 4 players there are (Over 5 million last count we had) and we know that even supposedly unpopular SPs sell well, we can make the educated (See thats the difference there) guess that Pet Stuff will sell over a million copies at least.
For example. Infinite Warfare. The most unpopular COD in the entire franchise. Massive dislikes, massive outrage, massive disappointment. One of the most disliked CoD trailers on youtube. Still sold millions. Hell it sold 1.8 million it's first week. (And was a top selling title in the charts for that week).
Hell Battlefront 2, which had massive controversy, still sold 1.5 million copies it's first month. It sold over 9 million copies since then. And that had massive outrage. So yes, I can make an educated guess that Pet Stuff will still sell well.
The second you tell me to find my own answer to a claim you made is when you lose any credibility you might have had. Of course, I personally thought you lost it the other day when you had that melt down over comments someone made on a different site that haunted you so much to bring it up here.
I’ll let you make educated guesses all you want, but if you’re going to make claims online you should probably make sure you can at least defend them, instead of shifting the burden of proof to the one who’s openly questioning you. It’s just the decent thing to do. I’ll leave you be now, you have nothing of value to share with me nor to add to this thread.

its hard to tell these days and that goes for things that get praised as well
Why would bots target this?
there are lots fake bot people on the internet fake following and fake friending people we've had bot trouble on these forums before
so bad they had to close the forum for awhile so why wouldn't there be bots else where

They keep messing with him in his cage. its funny. On a sad note, i cant "Teach them not to mess with the rodent" like you can with counters etc, so Im going to make that suggestion to Graham.

Im not terribly paranoid, but spam and FUD campaigns against EA using bots is nothing new. Thats actually happened before. 4Chan has done it, other groups have done it. Like i said, Im sure there ARE people upset about this pack, just like Im sure that there are a lot of people who could care less, but are just jumping on the bandwagon because they didnt like EA in the first place, and this just gives them another soapbox. I had a user on reddit the other day straight up admit, he steals the entire game, but he was still complaining about the SP. That he wasnt even going to pay for. Think about that for a second.

Hm, I can’t imagine that trolls or haters would come up with those kinds of arguments and insights that I’ve seen all over social media and this forum. It would take a lot of research to understand the special relationship Simmers have with this game.
Can I ask you, though (not intended as hate at all): why are you so set on proving that it’s not that many people who are criticizing the pack? Why does it matter? All it does is downplay the very valid points in this thread and other people’s opinions.

I mean likes/dislikes etc. Not specific posts etc. I kn ow for a fact things like downvote bots exist and are used all the time by folks.
Its not that I dont understand this pack isnt liked very much by a lot of people. I was simply responding to someone saying they couldnt believe EA didnt take their criticism, and released the pack anyway. Because as much people as we have here that might be upset about the pack, everyone knows its going to sell well anyway. Peoples opinions are peoples opinions. I dont have a problem with that, so long as they dont try to spread stuff without proof. (IE I get really annoyed when people make the claim that Maxis would intentionally strip stuff out of a EP to sell later in a SP. I thinkni thats a pretty 🐸🐸🐸🐸 thing to accuse the Sim Gurus of frankly. Especially when thats basically just an unfounded assumption, and it could be just as likely they simply made a matching piece that goes with something from a previous set, which they have done before, which btw I gave drake an example above, but he chooses to ignore it.)

Thank you for explaining.
If it were just the matching items, I think people wouldn’t criticize the pack that severely. There’s a lot that just adds up.
But as long as we can agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion, I’m happy. I respect yours.

I don't comment very often on forums such as this. Generally speaking I'm content to keep my thoughts to myself. But a friend pointed out that it doesn't always help the betterment of a situation to operate that way. So here I am, so she can now shut up about it! LOL
This doesn't qualify as a stuff pack in my opinion. It's more of an "add-on" since it's a DLC for an existing DLC. On top of that, the fact there's so much less content AND that some of the said content can't be accessed unless you have the pre-existing DLC... It's just a mess! Poor judgement, planning and execution. Having said that, I get that it may have been too much to offer this as a free update for those that purchased Cats & Dogs, but it isn't worth $13 CAD. Maybe I'd consider it if it was half that, which is a big maybe! But as of this moment, it is the only Sims 4 pack I won't be purchasing.
So that's my two or three cents worth, short, sweet and simple.
I don't think that EA hating bots are jumping on the bandwagon. We're too niche. See the coverage over the Battlefront outrage and see the coverage of this - if it's not a sims specific site, this does not even get covered (general gaming sites don't cover sims at all).
I just can't believe they went ahead with releasing the SP at all. I thought for sure they would stop the marketing, readjust, and release a more thought-out pack. But no. They didn't take any sort of constructive criticism whatsoever. It's borderline insulting. Yes, not everyone who plays the game is vocal.
However, it's not only the vocal ones that care and vote with their wallet. Like my sister, who genuinely doesn't realize games have fandoms like pop bands do, and how big the gaming industry is... Just yesterday, out of the blue she told me how annoyed she's getting with Sims constantly attacking her with new boring DLC and that she's not going to buy any more because it always turns out to be a major disappointment in a shiny wrapper. We never talk about gaming since Sims is the only game she actively plays and yet, she felt the need to share her frustration with me.
Same as my co-worker, who suddenly started ranting today at work when youtube recommended her another My First Pet review. The last DLC for Sims she bought was Vampires. I asked her if she'd maybe like to log in here and voice her opinion - she's never participated in any forum before and decided it's a "waste of time, I'm just not gonna buy this stuff pack and I don't want to hear about it or discuss it with strangers online". The idea was just weird to her.
Those are only 2 examples from my life, but I'm sure there are as many of people like that as there are of people like your wife.
Love how people use the "you're a small group of vocal complainers and most people doesn't even go on the internet to talk about sims, just quietly buys every new piece of DLC" argument only when it's convenient to them.
You know, those who don't instantly buy every stuff pack are mostly silent too.
We're just a small group on here in general, no matter what our opinion is.
I don't think that analyzing the sale number out of context is a good way to look at this. Millions of people play in TS4, so it's no wonder that maybe even millions would buy it. The question is how it looks compared to other packs. Now I'm pulling the numbers out of my head, but let's assume, that 2 million would buy MFP, but the avrage stuff pack sells in 3 million copies. MFP won't be considered as well-sold then, even though people buy thechnically million of copies.
The other thing is, how many of people will enjoy it after purchase, and how many of them will think "Well, I could've spent that money better". The quality of packs influence TS4's image in general. I'm not saying nobody will enjoy it, but I've already seen disappojnted people (the game changers are the most obvious example.

(While most of us just keep playing the game and getting on with our life) EDIT: BTW there is a top in Laundry d Day that clearly matches and goes with a pair of bottoms in Jungle Adventures! Conspicuous surely! Must have held back content! (Or you know, made items that match items from previous packs? Hrmm)
I thought you were the one complaining about "haters calling names", yet now you're suggesting someone is wasting their time, just because they're expressing their opinions on the Forums. Wow... Respect goes both ways, you know?
$10 to her (Well its my money but) means nothing. its like going to the store for some snacks.

also a lot of bots are on twitter and online so who knows how many of those people are real
its hard to tell these days and that goes for things that get praised as well
Why would bots target this?
there are lots fake bot people on the internet fake following and fake friending people we've had bot trouble on these forums before
so bad they had to close the forum for awhile so why wouldn't there be bots else where
I’m not denying that bots exist. But I’ll ask you again: why would they target this? It’s a stuff pack, not an election.
I thinkni thats a pretty plum thing to accuse the Sim Gurus of frankly. Especially when thats basically just an unfounded assumption, and it could be just as likely they simply made a matching piece that goes with something from a previous set, which they have done before, which btw I gave drake an example above, but he chooses to ignore it.)
@Oddzball an example of what? A fish tank next to a hamster cage? What exactly is that an example of? It’s not what I explicitly asked you for the other day, nor is it what I asked you for last night.
I think you are really doing your best to have a non-conversation by vapidly changing the topic to fit your narrative, which so far is amounting to a whole lot of fluff and nonsense.
Let’s see, so far you still haven’t produced anything regarding the continued paid sets of Sims 3 content included in other paid packs, you actually refused to prove this after talking up how easy it would be to find. You also haven’t produced anything to prove that either A. Millions of people enjoy this pack, OR B. The group of people that dislikes this pack is “small” or “the same few dozen people”. You refused to prove that too, so how about instead of typing my name and trying to start a flame war you actually do something? Prove what you’ve claimed or drop any conversation about me. I already dropped our convo when it became clear that you have nothing of value to add here. The continued name dropping, complaining, and overall refusal to provide any info regarding things that YOU claim just makes that even more obvious.
I just can't believe they went ahead with releasing the SP at all. I thought for sure they would stop the marketing, readjust, and release a more thought-out pack. But no. Do you have any data to back up the claim that millions of people actually like this pack? And/or that the # of people who dislike this pack are a “small group”?
You’re on a roll with making these statements that you can’t, and probably will refuse to prove.
Well, I can tell you in terms of "Likes" on twitter? Pets Stuff rates average. It actually comes out ahead of some of the other SPs when i bothered to scroll back far enough to look. But again, how many Sims fan's even engage in social media. I can tell you in terms of this pack being a companion to C&D which was the most popular selling EP for Sims 4 ever, i can guess most people will probably pick it up. Just out of common sense.
But I tell you what. I cant obviously give you sales numbers, because we dont know, just like you dont know all the claims you make, like "They stripped things off C&D to sell in a SP" But Im guessing it will do just fine. Also, where did I say "millions like the pack" I said millions dont care about the drama.
And I do mean that, just by statistics, we know that there are about 5 million Sims 4 players. This is fact. Even if 3/4 of them dont buy this pack, they still sell over a million copies. And I would be wiling to bet, considering other hated SPs we do know about sold fairly well, even one that isnt liked by a lot of fans will still sell in the millions.
C&D sold because it was basically Pets EP, one of the two most requested expansions. People desperately wanted cats and dogs in the game, so they sucked it up and bought the pack anyway. Besides, they were promised to be better pets since the pack concentrated only on them, I don't think they, or the stuff they have, is amazing enough to warrant that, but anyway.
This stuff pack isn't even that good, maybe it'll hook hamster/mice lovers, but that's about the only people who will feel backed into a corner and need to buy it.

I think (though I can't speak for Dream) that when people desperately want something in their game, they'll suck it up and buy it. So you're not exactly who she is referring to, as you don't seem to be someone obsessed with rodents.
If you REALLY want cats and dogs, but you've heard the EP isn't great, you're still likely to buy it just because you've wanted pets in the game for so long.
It's the same for people who like little rodents. They really want them for gameplay, so knowing it's a DLC for a DLC might bug them (and heck, some might not even have C&D), but they'll buy it for the sake of just having the critters. That's where the backed into a corner part comes in. $10.00 for a new coffee table and hamster enclosure is steep, but if you really want a hamster, you'll still buy it.
Lift up your head, princess. If not, the crown falls.
Comments
The second you tell me to find my own answer to a claim you made is when you lose any credibility you might have had. Of course, I personally thought you lost it the other day when you had that melt down over comments someone made on a different site that haunted you so much to bring it up here.
I’ll let you make educated guesses all you want, but if you’re going to make claims online you should probably make sure you can at least defend them, instead of shifting the burden of proof to the one who’s openly questioning you. It’s just the decent thing to do. I’ll leave you be now, you have nothing of value to share with me nor to add to this thread.

As I said, nothing of value. Enjoy the pack. Lol
Which little critter do you have? Whatever it is it's probably traumatized by the two cats.
The cute little rat. Its funny, the cats seem to love it. I cant keep the little buggers away from him.

Thank you for explaining.
If it were just the matching items, I think people wouldn’t criticize the pack that severely. There’s a lot that just adds up.
But as long as we can agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion, I’m happy. I respect yours.
The other thing is, how many of people will enjoy it after purchase, and how many of them will think "Well, I could've spent that money better". The quality of packs influence TS4's image in general. I'm not saying nobody will enjoy it, but I've already seen disappojnted people (the game changers are the most obvious example.
Also,
I thought you were the one complaining about "haters calling names", yet now you're suggesting someone is wasting their time, just because they're expressing their opinions on the Forums. Wow... Respect goes both ways, you know?
