I had not played sims 3 in a long time but wanted to play again have had no luck getting it to work keep getting error code oxo175d824 so did what Crin's list said and what EA wanted me to do still does not work so went to play sims 4 today and this is what I get:
well with all the fiddling about to fix the sims 3 I now can not play sims4 it says unable to start, make sure video card meets min standards, I think the code is oc6d1221:1df4c8dc-800100000 00000000, it is hard to read. But I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 so I know the card meets standards.

Make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date.
Try starting the game in windowed mode and see if that helps

Try turning off origin in-game and see if that helps. To do that, go,to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture. Click on “Game Properties”. Then untick the box that enables origin in-game

Try uninstalling and reinstalling origin and see if that helps

If the issues remain, could you please post your DxDiag info here.
To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, do this :
Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
Type dxdiag in the text field
Click OK
Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report
After you have saved your dxdiag info on your computer, go to the pastebin site https://pastebin.com
and copy/paste the dxdiag info into the white box there. Press the button to create the new paste/pastebin text file.
Then post here in this thread the web address of your dxdiag info that is on the pastebin site

It may help to uninstall the graphics driver, and reinstall it again and see if that helps.

@Eveebella Your current mode is not your native mode on your monitor. With a 980 card really you should at least have a monitor that is 1080p not 720p.
@EA_Lanna or @EA_Mage if your on the forum is it possible for you to merge this thread with OP's thread in the TS3 section since they have two threads going for same issue in both 3 and 4 tech. Thanks!

Something you may want to try if you do have Windows 10 update 1709 is go to Windows Settings, Gaming, and turn off Game DVR. May want to also turn off Game Bar (although I'm not sure that actually stops it from running somewhere in the background). Microsoft themselves have said that issues with Game DVR may not be fixed by simply disabling it but by removing all files associated with Game DVR. Then they failed to explain which files to remove and how.
Please contact Microsoft, EA, and tell them to fix this. I did, but your voice will carry more weight.
