@BklynbkbPlayer Thanks for the nice comment on both of my Lots. It's awesome that you looked at everyone's creation and gave your opinions on them. I would to see your Lots on this thread Don't worry about if other folks say your stuff is already been done. There is many Lots, Households and Rooms in the Sims 4 Gallery that it's bound to happen sometimes. There is so many variables and possibilities that out of one of those chances it might happen to look similar. So don't worry too much, have fun in what you do! ^.^ You can always do a bit of research just in case. Honestly if that person only said "already done" that is pretty rude thing to say unless they back up that claim. Stay strong! I would love to see you create stuff and share with others
EDIT: Great use of angles in your screenshots; it adds to the Lot when the surroundings help complement with the entire house. I like it a lot! It's simple and clean yet it stands out, because the paint and the design work well together. Nicely done!
Cape Cod Shell and Contemporary Shell are both very nice homes! @BklynbkbPlayer The exterior designs of them are very nice! Very nice layout of the interiors! It looks great how there are steps up to the front balcony and entrance in the Cape Cod build! The front and back balconies are very nice! The design of the build with the bedrooms on the ground floor is great! The roofing of Contemporary Shell is very nice! Very nice roof covered front entrance!
Please don't let comments that are written on the gallery upset you. Take notice of the simmers that compliment you. Everyone adds their own special touch and uniqueness to each build that they create. Simmers will enjoy downloading your unfurnished homes to furnish to suit the needs and lives of their sims, and they would like to use your home, whether it is similar or not to other homes. You are a very thoughtful person, and very kind in writing and complimenting everyone on their creations. You are very nice in the way you write your posts and it is very special to read them. Sending a hug to you
@BklynbkbPlayer - Thank you for the feedback on my room! Glad you like it! I like both of your shells. I'm very partial to the Cape Cod one since I like small cozy homes.
Don't let that comment mess with you. There are tons of homes from all different kinds of architectural styles. Literally hundreds of Craftsmans, ramblers, Victorians, etc. Your build is your build and I think that person was just trolling. I like your work! Can't wait to see it furnished!
@BklynbkbPlayer About that comment, if "already done" was the entire comment (and the way I read it, it is) it could also mean they're "already done" furnishing. Also, it may be just a slightly different interpretation depending on who translated, whether it was a person or Google translate or something. When translating "already done" to Dutch or German or French, I can think of at least two translations in each language, meaning either what you think or what I think it could mean. And there are probably even more possible translations. *I just checked out your build and the comment, which happened to be in German (which happens to be a language I speak) and it said "Schön gemacht, which means something along the lines of "Nicely done" - so actually it's a compliment! I think you may have used a translation service and entered "schon gemacht" which does mean "already made" - accents can make an enormous difference in some languages! And from what I know, the person who commented on your build only ever says positive things! *
Anyway, comments on the Gallery can be a bit ambiguous and unlike the forums, there's no real possiblity to ask someone for an explanation (and maybe that's something you'd better not do, I recently read something about trolls on the Gallery...). I once uploade a room, a large bathroom, under the name "Family bathroom" and got a comment "This will be perfect for my family of four!" - I was unsure if they were being serious or sarcastic (as technically, you can't really use a bathroom for more than one Sim at a time). The thing is, the amount of downloads (and/or favourites) are usually far more than the not so nice comments (if that is what they are) - so really, it was worth uploading. And whoever says mean things is either jealous of your skill or needs to get a life.
A more general question, inspired by BklynbkbPlayer's builds - how popular are shells? I have been thinking about uploading those instead of/as well as the furnished version, as it always takes me forever to furnish homes *perfectionist* and I sometimes wonder how many people actually keep it furnished the way it was. I also know there are people out there who like to furnish homes rather than build them. So, just curious.
Hello @MDianaSanders Many simmers like to download shells and furnish them to suit their sim families. There are many simmers who prefer furnishing rather than building the exterior of the homes. It would be great to upload homes that are not furnished. Some simmers like to download unfurnished homes and then as their sims earn money, they then can add more furnishings to the rooms and areas of the home. Also, with unfurnished homes, simmers can choose the style and colour scheme of the home, without needing to alter what is there.
Hi, all! Wow, thank you so very, very much for the feedback and nice, supportive and helpful comments! I was about to start playing/building and saw a comment that led me here, so...
@MDianaSanders, thank you for the very helpful comments! I think you must be right about my mistranslation and I do feel so much better about that. I don't know how to do accents on my keyboard, and though I scrolled around to see if there were other possibilities, I finally decided that sadly, someone out in our community might be thinking I used their work without permission. Your advice about not asking what it means is sound, certainly, and I guess I just felt so worried I wasn't thinking straight. I think I wouldn't mind a mean comment so much as I would making another Simmer feel badly, so I did want to know. Thank you so very much for your help!
About the shells, as @rosemow said, Simmers really do like decorating and furnishing! The ones I have done have been far and away the most frequently downloaded lots I have shared on the Gallery, so, either my decorating is just not to people's taste (totally possible) or it's just super fun to customize a home that looks pretty and/or suitable for your Sims. I love decorating very much, but it is nice to know I can create stuff that community members might enjoy, and it is, of course, so very much faster this way. I have been challenging myself to keep the shells at a Starter price point, thinking Sims could be moved in right from the get-go, and it would be fun to earn the simoleans to fill the house. With the outdoor pack, a Sim could get a cooler and a camp bed to survive
@Ash072, thank you for your kind and supportive comment Your builds are amazing! Also, while I really did like the way my modern style house turned out, the Cape Cod is more to my taste as well. Maybe being a city dweller makes me long for pretty little traditional homes... I could never in my wildest dreams afford one without leaving NYC -- probably a stretch even then -- so it is wonderful to have the Sims as an outlet for daydreaming.
@BreeMiles, thank you for the lovely compliment Halloween was great; here's hoping for an even better November!
@rosemow, thank you for your comments on my builds and very most especially thank you for your kind and supportive comments to allay my fears and put my mind at rest. The hug was just what I needed, and I send a warm one to you, because there is no such thing as a one way hug
@Heaveness, thank you for the lovely comments and support! You are so right about how many similarities there will be in builds with the sheer amount of shared creations in our community! It will be good to keep that in mind, for sure. Thank you also for the comments about the screenshots. After seeing how perfectly you showcased your builds, it is very high praise indeed
@Cbear13, hello! It is very nice to hear you liked reading my comments I do so love your creations!
I will again apologize for the lengthy post although many of you very politely said you did not mind. I will work on feeling less shy. I will post later with new things if I share stuff to the Gallery. I do not want to take up this thread with my ramblings. I hope everyone has a great day! Thank you again for all the lovely comments -- my day will definitely be good because of your kindness.
@MDianaSanders looks like sweet Rose and @BklynbkbPlayer got you answered all up.. As for shell homes i'm with them I think some people like them to fix up there self's. BklynbkbPlayer here is a link to emotions for keyboards. fsymbols.com/keyboard/windows/alt-codes/list/ I think maybe that was what you were looking for. MDianaSanders Thanks for the info on the #tags dear I will restrain from using that one for sure!
P.S. edit:
BklynbkbPlayer Don't worry bout the size of your post sweetie. We don't mind a tall... Hugs dear.
Dear Airis we must have posted at the same time. You are very most welcome sweetie!! Hugs!!
@BklynbkbPlayer There is nothing wrong with long posts. I mean a lot of my posts tend to be very long and people seemed to be fine with it. Also thanks for the nice complement!
@AIRIS6962 Nice signature! ^.^ very nice and clean also informative of what you do! I wish I had a cool looking signature like yours, mines only a simple animated gif.
Your posts are always very nice @BklynbkbPlayer You don't need to be concerned about the length of them, for each word contains kindness from you to another simmer. I will look forward to seeing new builds that you create and post here.
Your signature is very nice! @Heaveness It has a very calming feel and look to it, and the girl looks very nice on the white background. The umbrella is pretty. It is a very nice signature.
@rosemow awwwww thanks I guess I didn't think of it like that. No doubt I really love your signature! It's a great message and it represents who you are, an awesome and caring person!
Hello, all! You are so nice, and it's been fun to read your comments here today! Thank you for the encouraging words. I very much appreciate them! @BreeMiles, I bookmarked the helpful link you shared, so thank you Might I just compliment all of you on your siggys? It is so cool the way they show your personality right in your post.
I made and shared a new little starter shell house today. This one is in American traditional style. I am really, really happy with the exterior on this build. It reminds me of the house my grandparents bought when they retired outside of the city. They wanted a single floor, but made sure there was room for the family during holidays, vacations and long weekends. It's not the same, but puts me in the mind of it, so
American Style Shell is very nice! @BklynbkbPlayer The exterior design and layout of the home is very nice! Very nice roofing! The stone and other texture of the exterior give a very nice look to the home. It is a very special build with it bringing to your heart and mind special reminders of your grandparents. It would have been special for you as you built it and were thinking about your grandparents. Very nice front garden areas. The flowers look pretty along the edges of the exterior and around the base of the tree. . The front entrance area looks nice how the fencing is placed there. The open shutter windows are a nice touch in the home. The layout of the interior of the home is very nice .
It is a very nice home
@BklynbkbPlayer I like you style! It's simple but very pleasant and easy on the eyes. It gives off a calm nature especially thanks to the surrounds and the lighting used in the screenshots. It looks like a real-life house ^.^
My last creation uploaded to The Gallery is a room. I made it for ONE ROOM-ONE WEEK-ONE THEME: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/815547/one-room-one-week-one-theme/p1
There is a story behind this entry: First of all, I wanted participate since long time ago because this wonderful thread is hosted by my dearest Rose, but the really thing is that I´m not good at making/sharing rooms. Well, by Halloween @BreeMiles and I said to ourselves: "Trick or Treat" We choose Treat and the treat was that she will make a room for this wonderful challenge and so I will. So, here is mine. I hope it will not be only the first one there
@AIRIS6962 wow.... I mean WOW! I am lost for words on how great this Room looks. I am totally speechless, it looks fantastic! The floor patterns, the lightning, the decor, the furnishing, and the coloring is so gorgeous and awesomely done. I can go on for days why this room is very well made. Never seen a room like this high-quality in a super long time. I give you two thumbs up!
Hello @Airis Thankyou so very much for entering the dining room in the room challenge thread! I have already posted about the room there, but just wanted to say again how very grand and elegant the room is! The furnishing of the room is so very nice! The layout of the room and the alcoves and nooks in the room are so very nice! It is such a very elegantly furnished royal room!
Hi! @AIRIS6962, your room is completely and utterly amazing! The colors and lighting are beautiful, and the touches like the custom built-ins are so creative and perfect. You made the same old items I use all the time look totally different! That table, though! It would take me an hour to set a table like that in real life, and possibly thirty or forty years with MOO in Sims Your patience and talent is awesome! The entire design is cohesive and yes, royally beautiful. Thank you for sharing it here, because I got to see it right away! Please accept my apology for misspelling your name in earlier posts. I didn't mean to be so careless.
@BreeMiles, thank you so much for the lovely compliment! Your words made me smile.
@Heaveness, thank you for the wonderful feedback! I took an embarrassing amount of pictures of that house because it kept looking different according to the lighting, and I couldn't decide what looked nicest. I guess I finally chose well. Thanks!
@rosemow, thank you for the thoughtful and positive comments! This build is pretty special to me, and it is so nice to be thinking about my grandparents when I see it in my Sims game. I'm furnishing it now, and it is making me very happy, imagining and remembering
Somewhat randomly, as far as decorating Sim houses goes, I tend to have the Alt key pretty much clamped all the time. As a result, I discovered that it works in other programs to fine tune placement, because my hand just went for the Alt key automatically when struggling to manipulate images. It's probably some kind of universal Windows thing, but I didn't know, and it is now so much easier to make PowerPoint slides at work and edit pictures in Gimp. Yay!
