Every distance has multiple *Hidden* secrets to discover.

    Example
    1. Start your excursion at the Distance A, on your map this distance shows following:
3 *Hidden* Travel options / 3 *Hidden* wild Animals / 2 *Hidden plants / 1 *Hidden* collectable / * 2 *Hidden* Consequences (ex. Avalanches / risk of fallen trees) *12 *Hidden* trail names
    2. When you successfully using a travel option this will be saved and now be viable on the map. You discover the 3 *Hidden* travel options: Cross country skiing, Skating & Snowshoeing
    3. If you spot a wild animal, click on it and choose the option Add to map. After some observing you discover the 3 *Hidden* wild animals: Wild bear, Lynx & Wolves.
    4. When moving forward on the distance you will come to a Crossroad. Choose between Distance B or Distance C (click on one of the road signs) and discover the *hidden* secrets on your new path.

Distances can led into each other which means a lot of different variations off trails (ex. A => B => D => F => B ). When you complete a trail (coming back to your starting point) you will discover the *Hidden* name of the trail, ex. A => C => E => A will be called The Nordfjell Trail. Your sim can now autonomously complete this trail. Click Hike the Nordfjell Trail. You can at any time pause the hike (cancel it) to take a break (Eat & Sleep in a sleeping bag under the stars). You can learn some of the best methods from interacting with the locals or successfully attract a wild animal (gifting system CoL). Learn from the discoveries on your map, where have the animal showed up before? There’s always a risk that you call for an Eagle where there’s no Eagles to be seen, but learn by you mistakes and try your luck!

    Maybe
Can't really make up my mind on this as finnish bean

it feels like lot of this should and could have just been what outdoor retreat is about and id much rather update for that (real bears+bear lot challenge, lake activities+swimmable lake, better saunas, berries...)

but I would really love to see Sámi culture represented in game though it would be really beautiful

and i couldn't really say id hate to see dog & reindeers sledging

and vikings yeah they'd be pretty epic

so I guess the answer is maybe

depending on focus of the pack
    because if its snow sports
I'm afraid I don't really care after snowy escape thats enough for me

and as far as 4 season woods go thats covered by outdoor retreat

but culture? in beautiful northern mountains or seaside villages?
    maybe.

i think it be mega cool if we could have smithing and leatherwork and like sims could hunt and use furs for stuff

and there could be some nordic instruments for our sims to play...

now thats some stuff i could get into

Yeah carving leather is a good idea. I also like the idea with hunting, but not sure how this could be done without being to morbid? 🤔

I've mentioned few times in other discussions but basically i think we could have something like moving bushes in the world and shooting arrows at them situation which would tie in with archery skill

sim could then collect the spoils and get meats and furs in their inventory to be used for cooking and crafts

oh we could even use the bones for something... wall decor perhaps?

(+ random thought if its seaside and we got some wood chopping there could be viking ship building  )

i guess what I am saying is nordic crafts and hobbies pack make it happen

@Simmingal That's sounds awesome with an Archery skill!! I add that to the description! Hunting could also give more depth to the Simple living challenge. Do you have any ideas on the leather carving? What could such a skill be called?

I love this idea, just as long as it doesn't have a ton of focus on sports. We already got a sports focused snowy pack, but if the hiking trails and climbable walls are pretty much it then it's probably fine. I especially love the festivals and the idea of signing up a pet dog for the rescue service thing.

I would probably relate it to the Sámi and Viking style objects in this imaginary pack and just call it broadly Leatherwork

Sims could make things such as:
    • viking leather armor pieces
    (add to wardrobe)
    • leather boots/shoes
    • gloves (+archery gloves)
    • accessories (bracelets,belts,hats...)
    •functional pouches... wallets?
to store money outside household funds (especially useful!)
and/or items you could normally put in those storage chest things
but id also love to have them as wardrobe accessory
    •archery quivers
    • flask? for some drinks
•knife holders? should we hunt with those
•harness for the reindeer thing... and why not sims too :smirk:
    • fur and fur/leather items if your sim has furs could also be made with this skill i think
    •pillows and fur rug/blanket thingies?
•speaking of which sledges could use some of that

it could also be used to make some leather items already in game and in any pack coming as cross pack thing

and maybe with woodworking skill you can add upholstery to items you make if you have leather and/or fur

when your sim gets better at skill they can add more and more detailed beautiful decorative carvings to the items in the nordic styles as well

I loved aurora skies, many generations of my sims 3 sims lived there. Gimme a world like aurora skies and I will be a happy camper :)

Nah, I don't like snow in real life, and it's rare that I like it in games. This is one reason why I don't have Seasons, and I only got Snowy Escape because (ironically) most of its world isn't snowy. I think Scandinavian/Nordic places, people, and things are generally awesome and beautiful, but ice and snow (and activities that rely on them) are nowhere near my I-want-to-do-this list. I might be interested in the greener and warmer aspects of such a world, but not if it's a Destination world only.
FYI: Just because you can see my signature, don't assume that I can see yours.
Because I can't; I keep all sigs turned off. ;)

Love the ideas you have regarding activities! But I just can't get with the cold/snow. I rarely ever use the snowy area in snowy escape and I skip through most winters with seasons. 😩😩
Actually.... I like your ideas so much I think I should have just chose yes...😆😆

I want a remake of AS which was my favourite TS3 world. But we don't need more winter sports / camping. It could be the scene of a cars or Scandinavian pop singer pack.

First, I love the over-all idea and possible look of this world. I can easily imagine what the team would do with the fishing village (lol, three houses and a pub, but it would be very cute!), and a remote mountain neighborhood. Maybe a middle neighborhood with a more temperate forest? Aesthetically, this type of world would have a lot to offer.

I don't have time to get into it now, but I think some of the specific ideas you've suggested are either already in the game or would probably be unrealistic to add/hard to execute. But you've come up with so many creative ideas that I think there's still plenty there to add life to a full pack. I'm particularly intrigued by your argument that this would be a good opportunity to add glass blowing and jewelry making, as those are feature that interest me greatly. Skating on a frozen pond, exploring Viking ruins, and the festivals you mentioned also sound great. I think there would definitely be an opportunity for fun new harvestables and recipes, which is always important to me. New boats would be great. I would definitely hope for a world like this they would build on the opportunities to swim in the rivers and do some SE-style hiking.

I do have a feeling that it's something we wouldn't be likely to see soon, as there are some strong similarities to both Snowy Escape and Cottage Living. But if they aren't working on a pack like this yet, by the time it came out, that would probably be fine.

Bottom line, yes, I would definitely buy this pack.

@Amapola76 I'm really interested to know what things you think is unrealistic/to hard to execute (I know nothing about programming lol!). :) I also hope that making a pack like this could give them reasons to go back and improve previous packs that have similar themes (Outdoor retreat, Snowy Escape, Cats&Dogs EP). And Yeah, agree that we need some packs with other themes for now (warmer climates), but I heard that it takes years (2?) to make a pack, and maybe then we crave some snow again. :)

That timing sounds perfect. If we got, for example, a Mediterranean pack in the interim, with maybe some of the other things like Generations, bands, fairies, werewolves, etc., that people have been asking for in the meantime, a pack like this would really hit a high note for me about two years from now.

I don't have any programming experience, either, but just based on the history of the game so far, I think the two main things that I was skeptical about were (1) hunting, because archery in the past has been tied to an object... and TS4 doesn't seem to have advanced enough to make it free form; and (2) animals pulling sleds seems a little beyond what we've seen them capable of doing with animals so far.

Looking back over the initial list, I love the idea of using this as an opportunity to add fermentation to cooking, and maybe also making oat milk (as I love it in real life, and also think we need a better concept for plant milk). Brewing would be fun, but I admit, I would be a little salty if we got brewing before nectar-making. A fishing competition could easily build on the mechanics from the Finchwick Fair, I would think.

About the only thing I definitely don't want is adding a thirst bar to the needs panel. Sims spend way too much time grabbing glasses of water as it is. :D

I'd always be interested in this theme. I'd say to add modern and historic styles. Tiny Living had a bit of Scandinavian style but it could go further.

    Absolutely!
Anything adventure related count me in! Rolling naked in the snow or in the hot sand, sounds all good to me. I always love more outdoors related content in the sims. In fact it’s my favorite kind of content.
To me it doesn’t matter by what part of the world it’s inspired, I’m just so super down for that kinda stuff! 🥲
A pack with Nordic aesthetics, beautiful! Don’t forget Trolls. We need trolls. And snow shoes…like those tennis rackets.

Due to the vast amount of open, clear skies, I do think a pack like this begs for Astronomy / astrology features too with a portable telescope, astronomy career, astrology career, watching and taking pictures of different shapes and figures in the Northern Lights. I know Eco lifestyle comes with a version of Auroralights, but you can’t really see any bears, wolves , birds or…cities in those. In a Nordic inspired pack you would. Of course you would. Also, Kids should be able to help bake and decorate gingerbread houses. There should be a gingerbread house festival. Or something.
I don’t know. I’ve never been further north than the south of Scotland.

If we could only get a fraction of everything mentioned…

It would of course be a complete mishmash of all kinds of different Scandinavian cultures, but that’s the beauty of the Sims. Can’t take it too seriously.

    Yes PLEASE.

You absolutely had me at the title, which makes sense since I'm literally from here. I am both Norwegian and Finnish, and know both languages. Mostly grew up in Norway, though. I really like it here.

I would not mind the pack being a mishmash of nordic cultures either; it's The Sims, and I really just want some representation in the first place. If I can have both Norwegian and Finnish content in one pack, excellent!! And let's not forget our Danish, Swedish and Icelandic siblings as well!

Sámi and viking content is a must. Especially sami, since they are in fact still around and alive after almost getting colonized away! They're an indigenous population that has been here for thousands of years. They belong here, and I do have some sami friends who would be absolutely thrilled to see themselves represented in the game. One of them DM'd me on twitter to ask if I'd ever found any sami CC (which I did), so I know there's at least some interest. They really need more representation in media in general, so adding them to The Sims would be HUGE, but the team should please do some good research in this case.

And as much as I love to say we're still vikings here, we're really more their descendants? The area I grew up in really takes pride in our ancestors; the first thing you see upon landing at our airport is "WELCOME TO THE LAND OF VIKING KINGS", there are houses in town with dragons on the roof (it's known as "norwegian dragestil"...please make this a build option, I crave it), there's a statue of Harald Hårfagre, there is a thousand year old stone church, an archeological dig site, as well as a rebuilt viking settlement where we host a festival every year with actual historical viking re-enactors...

Anyway, having some actual viking content in-game like this would be AWESOME. I need it. Give me historically accurate viking tunics and dresses, so I won't have to make custom content of it anymore. If we get a nordic-themed pack, the viking festival should be a thing in game. I guess it's kind of like a renaissance fair, but viking-focused due to the area we're in?

But also, we're still modern people living modern lives. We're not all stuck in the viking age. Having skills in the game inspired by it would be cool as heck though, and would especially come in handy in my savefile where I do in fact attempt to play a proper viking village set one thousand years ago. They don't really have much to do at the moment.

....alright, reading through the actual OP here (that I didn't get a chance to properly read through back at work, I skimmed it), and it looks like I'm gonna have to make a second post with my additional thoughts, because hoo boy this is getting too long already.

@CAPTAIN_NXR7 Yeah it’s a mix of all different cultures, and I agree, that’s the beauty of sims. 😊 Also, ppl from these countries are often referred to as Nordic / Scandinavians and share many similarities in language, nature, culture and history (Sami people, Vikings, etc), so I think it would be an ok mishmash. 😉

@Magdaleena Yes please share you ideas / images if you have any. Maybe there are some activities on the Viking festival you mention that could be re-enacted in sims? 😊

    Definite Maybe for me.

First off, I love the idea. Especially the Viking related stuff. Would love to see Archery and Leatherworking as skills in the games with the latter having items to unlock in CAS as well as build mode. I would throw in Mead making as a skill just as I would Wine making in a Mediterranean pack (or similar pack) but that is just me. I want those skills and other "craft brewing" skills in the game badly. And honestly, I am certain more stuff could be added on top of what you added here.

Second... the problem: It feel like you've put too much in there for one pack. (Though I am sure most wish all the packs were this much content at once.)
That said, I am specifically thinking too much related to "worlds". They have yet to put both a normal world and destination world or even a normal world and a blank world into the same pack. They've needed to several time over (Hi Sulani, yes I am looking at you. And I haven't forgot you being over there in the corner Get Famous.) The closest they've come is how they sat up Realm of Magic and the "magic realm" isn't editable without cheat codes (nor does it need to be honestly).

I would say perhaps making the an expansion focusing on Scandinavian culture and lore in general and a game pack with the Viking related stuff would be a solution to this but I can already imagine the amount of people on these forums complaining about two packs with related content.

(I'm been redoing my gallery stuff so bear with me. FYI: I never use CC on my gallery builds. I rarely use MOO.) I am usually more pleased with my room builds than my lot builds.

Viking related decorations would be great, perhaps they could even add in lutefisk (I am of Scandinavian ancestry, and have actually eaten the stuff), pickled herring, and lingonberry jam or pancakes with lingonberry syrup. I love, love, love the crafting ideas. Pickling, canning, and making freezer jams would be great new skills.
Igloos, additional hiking trails (at least 2 packs have hiking trails so far), and ice sculpting (or even sculpting in general) would be great!
Archery with shooting targets for the arrows would also be good. Hunting though...may go too far and gather too many complaints/protests/boycotts from radical animal rights activists (the same ones who eventually stopped all the circuses here in the US from using any animals in their performances). Some of those would even say there should be no zoos, but if there were no zoos, young people who never went to a zoo would not learn how to appreciate the variety of wildlife and the dangers of extinction, let alone have any clue how to rehabilitate injured wildlife. (After all, they can only take a certain amount of electives, and often must choose between things like psychology, sociology, art, drama, and music).

Sledding and werewolves would fit in perfectly here, as would say, ice fairies, and mining dwarves. Speaking of mines, a nice underground maze would be perfect about now. Maybe I'll go build one in my game. Too bad there aren't enough stalactite/stalagmite and crystal decorations, let alone ancient cave drawings, runes, and the like. Treehouses would be a fantastic feature as well. I haven't yet been able to construct a credible treehouse using the current build tools available in the vanilla game. There is, for instance, no leaf roofs (straw roofs yes, leaf and branch roofs no), no wall decorations of branches sticking out, and no bark wallpaper.

Or, they could even go for the Siberian version of Area 51, and add a fortified area around a crashed UFO. And there could even be an area around the UFO inside the borders of the fence (which has caution signs on each side) where there is a very light radiation leak - enough to make Sims in the area nauseous, but not enough to invite the Grim Reaper, or else 100% curable with treatment in the hospital, leaving them bald but well (something the player can manually change back in CAS editing).
(Besides, those of us with custom hairs often have ended up with bald Sims after the mods were all disabled by a patch.)
I have been playing The Sims since 2001, when Livin Large came out. My avatar deliberately looks like Chris Roomies from TS1.
