Is anyone else having trouble repairing their game in Origin? I have all dlc, I have a gaming desktop and 400 mbps internet speed. But I am trying to repair my game, a process that normally takes approximately 10 minutes total, and it been more than 2 hours and there’s still a long way to go. The base game repairs then the first 4-9 packs go relatively quickly, but then things slow down by a lot. By about 10 packs in stuff packs are taking up to 5 minutes when they normally take less than 10 seconds and game and expansion packs which normally take about 45 seconds to a minute are taking up to 20 minutes each. Then at some point the whole thing freezes up and stops entirely and when I restart Origin it starts the whole process all over again.
I have tried:
Signing out of Origin and signing back in.
Shutting the computer down and rebooting it.
Shutting the computer down and taking it apart and cleaning it.
Edit to add: Uninstalled Origin and reinstalled.
I have never had this problem before and am completely stumped.
Well, then at least we can likely deduce that it’s definitely an Origin problem. I got an update for Origin yesterday and that seems to be what started this. Because I repaired my game after the skin tone update and it went fine.
I gave up. After uninstalling and reinstalling Origin I left my game to repair for 2 hours. I returned to find a download paused message, again so I killed it in task manager did a full reboot of my computer and just reset the Sims4 folder. Everything seems to be working fine. Heaven only knows when this will be fixed. 🙄
I did not have that problem when I repaired yesterday, but after the November patch I did. I think it took three tries.
Yesterday it repaired just fine, but then Origin continued using my system resources so that everything else was super slow until I figured out the problem in task manager. It finished the repair so I don't know what it was still doing.
It’s super frustrating. But what can you do? Mine repaired fine after the skin tone update, but yesterday it downloaded the “newest version of Origin”, and now everything has gone off the rails.
I’ve had the same problem somehow origin had turned the auto update game option back on so I switched it off and now it won’t start repairing everytime I log in. Usually it repairs fine for me but since this lastest fix patch it’s been so slow and nearly crashing. I’ve cleared origin cache, sims cache and nothing helped it. I think it’s an origin issue and not a sims issue as my game works fine when I play it.
I'm having the same issue. Anytime I needed to repair my game, it never took long. Now it takes about 3 hours to repair my game with all my packs. Not only that, but I'm constantly running into errors and download fails with Origin. It's never been like this before and nothing I do, fixes the issue.
Granted, I haven't tried a repair lately, but last time I tried a full repair... hoo boy. CPU use shot to 100%, computer running in the red on all fronts for several hours, had to restart my whole system just to free the memory once it was done.
So last time I hit repair, I cancelled it on all packs, so it just repaired the base game. Still ate up way too much CPU for my liking, but it wasn't for long.
But yeah, I try to avoid Repairing my game right now. Hoping that the EA Play thing will work better.
Have you tried running Origin as Administrator. Right click Origin and select "Run as Administrator." Maybe that will help.
This, and also check your antivirus program and firewalls. Sometimes an update can knock a program off the "safe" list. I don't know how or why, but I've had different programs do it in the past, one of them being Origin. So now whenever I have performance issues, I check my firewall.
It seems they've been doing a lot of Origin tweaking lately so it's probably going to be a little problematic.

I will try these. I started trying to repair on Monday after the patch but each time it just bogs way down until Origin crashes completely. All other apps and programs are running fine. I got an Origin update Monday shortly after the game update and that seems to be when everything went down hill. Thanks for the suggestions @Annie2008@LiELF and @simslover1145.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Origins now I'm reinstalling the game in hopes it helps with some of the problems I have been getting since Skintones Update.
Playtesting - not just tabletop games and card games any more. Really that should have been playtested in Beta and not
I guess it just depends on your computer/system??? Mind takes less than a minute to repair, I’m so sorry that it’s not that easy for others
See that was me too until Origin itself updated Monday after the genetics patch. Now it’s taking hours and never completes. I was just now logging into my pc to try the suggestions I got.

Sadly, no dice. The first 7 packs went smooth like butter. But around pack 7 they slowed way, way down and now it has pretty much stalled out again. I expect Origin to crash entirely any minute now. *sigh* 😞
I'm sorry you're having this problem. The last suggestion I can give (which you've probably done) is to make sure that both Origin exe and Sims 4 exe are cleared in your firewall and antivirus. Sometimes one can be there but the other isn't. Open task manager and stop all Origin programs, then clear the cache for it, restart the computer and run Origin as admin. Then try repairing.
It's got to be something connected with Origin and it could be some kind of bug. You can also try looking around at EA Answers HQ to see if there are others having this problem. There might be additional suggestions there.
Thanks @LiELF i tried all of that. I will just wait for Origin to update again and hope that fixes it. In the meantime I regenerated a new Sims4 folder and so far things seem to be running okay.
The last time I tried to repair it was a nightmare. I thought a problem I had would be solved, but it wasn't. I started the repair and 5 hours later I was able to click play even though it said still loading game. So I went into origin and saw that it was still downloading and I couldn't figure it out for a second, but then I saw the legacy edition which I had not clicked on to download was what was downloading. I was like oh heck no. I canceled out and since then my game is fine. I won't make the mistake of repairing again anytime soon unless I have real major issues.

Great! Maybe you won't have any issues after all.
