Definitely looking forward to Dr Vatore making a re-appearance, though not sure if he'll be willing to shed light on the situation anyway (shed light is probably a poor choice of words for a vampire. what would a vampire shed? 😆) - doesn't aound like he's been in a particular hurry to catch up with his offspring so far, so not sure why he'd change that now.

The only other thing I can think of shedding is skin, but that's just weird. Shedding skin on the situation? Or fur? Oh gosh, it's only Monday and already my brain is shot to heck.
He's probably just a busy guy. I mean the Starlight Accolades are nearly upon the town, the surgery's gonna be packed, lots of faces to fix.

By the way, the house Melinda went to at the end of the chapter is as creepy as the other one. Yep, it's also the general vibe of Forgotten Hollow (I almost called it Midnight Hollow when typing).

Ah, finally checking in with the Vatores. I love how they were communicating telepathically. Also loved how their reaction to potential vampire hunters at the door was something akin the annoyance of a door-to-door salesman showing up.

I also forgot to say how believable Melinda's thought process was, from her wondering if she could outrun a vampire, then remembering she is a vampire to realising she has no idea what she's dealing with... very nice! Definitely feel slike being inside someone's head.

Sorry to disappoint you. I wanted some sort of caution so people weren't all like 'lalala, let's read this lovely, light-hearted chapter on the train... oh my gosh!' but had no idea what to put. Although I suppose Grim had been so not a total lie. Yeah, there are horror elements for sure, but nothing that'll give you nightmares... I think. I'm 99% sure. 95% maybe...
