What I find amusing is lounge chairs were in base games of all others (except TS3) when the milking started, and no one was running around demanding they could hug, kiss, sit on together, etc. with lounge chairs though we may have been asking for more multitasking like being able to answer another Sim while in the kitchen cooking. But I don't think we meant talking back to back instead of at least turning to look at Sim but continue to mix while answering. Not this stop and talk...wait for the other Sim to get there..then start up cooking again..if ever....

As I have said they created their own complications with this one, and I don't really care, it's not up to me to wait and beg etc. It's up to me to by pass what is lacking any sort of expectation. You get pools, you expect lounge chairs...it's that simple to customers. Only those who want to make life more complicated than it really is are the nay sayers. downsaying you shouldn't want more interactions with a lounge chair, but for heavens sake, it's a lounge chair. A pool..equals lounge chair, diving board, slide etc.

It's not my problem they couldn't do this in the base game. They had four years on this game just like all the others..so I don't except lame excuses.

I'm fairly sure being able to read, use a tablet, talk on the phone and chat with others while using a lounge chair are all normal parts of life. In fact, I know it because I was just doing it the other day at the pool while my kids swam. So yeah, I'm glad that if they decide to add them in they won't be taking shortcuts with them just so life isn't too complicated for those wanting a quick fix.

This game is risking so much... don't justify the lazy team

Not sure what you mean by risking but I do think it's wrong to assume anything about the guru's work ethic simply because they aren't producing what you want on the schedule you want them to. ;) Justification is unnecessary. I personally want lounge chairs that do more than just offer a place for people to lie down. You want them kept simple so they can introduce them as soon as possible. Both opinions and no justification involved in either.

Is risking to be a really bad game! :frowning: why they have to behave like this, why? They really need to move on! And it's a gross thing say that they are working to make the game better. Until now, only inconsistent and disappointment

Everything you're stating here is an opinion. It's your opinion that it's going to be a really bad game. I happen to like it and think it's shaping up to be quite good. I haven't found it to be inconsistent or disappointing so far.

Ooh, floatable lounge chairs would be awesome. Personally, I'd love a vacation pack with a new destination that includes the lounge chairs. Maybe a Mexican vacation that includes beach areas, a new city, snorkeling and Mayan or Aztec ruins to explore.

Or cruises. A big ole cruise ship with swimming pool, ballroom, casino, restaurant or dining with the captain.
True that could work too. I would love having a Mexican vacation spot for a change. I just hope the exploration is more sandbox style this time. I want an Australian world too. Yeah the Sims 3 I think had the floatable lounge chairs.

Gah. I completely forgot floating lounge chairs! Maybe they could float up to an in-pool bar...
That would be really cool. Nice idea.

Same with hot tubs which I'm still a little sad about becoming DLC. There are still things that have been in all three base games that haven't even touched the Sims 4, but I saved that list for another thread to avoid going OT with this one which I probably have already.

It's a shame that there are things already in the code of the base game and they don't want to make them available. So what's next? A lounge chair that is gameplay object in a ep/gp?! Instead to make us angry with all this "sorry we can't", make relax on bed, pillow talk and shower woohoo as a real thing, not just unused codes

The Tweet said nothing about not being able to do something like a lounge chair, all it said was that a lounge chair would not be content added in a Stuff Pack and when you think about it that makes sense; Stuff Packs are cranked out very quickly and as a result I really, really doubt the development team are afforded the time to create brand new animations (including all the multitasking stuff) and on top of that creating that kind of animation is probably far more time-consuming and expensive than a Stuff Pack is worth. These guys are video game developers, I doubt they're on minimum wage salaries here. It makes far more sense for a lounge chair to be part of a Game Pack or Expansion Pack where new animations are EXPECTED.

As for TS4? I hope it goes on to have a long lifecycle like all of the other games within the franchise. People may not like it, but there are clearly enough fans of the game otherwise EA wouldn't be cranking out content like they are and it would be really sad if all those people lost out on a game they genuinely enjoy.

If every little content is treated like these infamous lounge chairs... well, the game will probably still under development until 2030. What is a shame is the fact that some of you justify them. More you protect them, more the game will be always empty.

I'm not protecting them and I am certainly not EA's number one fan. All I am saying is that Stuff Packs are not the place for objects like that because EA wouldn't be able to recycle or tweak existing animations. To me Stuff Packs are for stuff, Game Packs and Expansion Packs are for gameplay objects so I don't expect Stuff Packs to introduce objects that require anything beyond repurposed, pre-existing animations.

If you want to think that way then that's fine but trust me, that is not my angle whatsoever.

It's not your angle because you still haven't lost the patience. The majority of us have already lost it, and you can't deny it. Come on, are only lounge chairs. If they will continue like they are doing now, this game will be a total mess in every single aspect

The "majority of us" is subjective. Just because someone is the loudest does not mean they necessarily represent the most amount of people. The way I see it yes there are a lot of people who are unhappy with the game and I never once denied that, however there are likely to be just as many people who are happy with the game. I've never believed TS4 is the most popular game and I don't believe it has outsold TS3 in around the same time period, but let's not pretend this game doesn't have its fans because it does and there are a lot of them.

It is your opinion that the game will be a total mess; from my perspective what EA is saying is making sense. I say this not to defend them, not to continue some grand delusion to somehow confirm I haven't wasted my money etc etc and certainly NOT as any kind of fanboy - I say this purely because EA don't add full new gameplay objects to Stuff Packs, they just don't. New gameplay objects in the past were reserved for expansion packs where more time could be spent developing them. I can't imagine too many people would be happy if we got lounge chairs with, say, the Popcorn / Ice Cream maker level of animation depth.

Trust me, I know how it feels to lose patience. I lost patience with EA back with TS3 because from my experience that game was a wreck in terms of the gameplay offered and the stability. Much like how TS4 has taken away things a lot of people loved from the franchise TS3 did that to me so believe me, I know. I have actually been extremely hesitant to get too heavily invested into TS4 because I also know what EA's reputation is like and EA are one of only a very small number of game developers who I will not preorder games for, because I don't trust them. I've only just adopted expansion packs for TS4 and I got those in the sale because no, I do not think this game is worth full RRP.

None of that changes how I feel towards this Tweet though and I'm not about to go and twist it into something it NEVER meant just to get a point across.

EA have screwed up enough times on their own when it comes to this game and in some cases they have screwed up VERY publicly, they really don't need the added assistance from people who would prefer to twist the words of a Tweet around instead of taking it for what it is. They are perfectly capable of self-destructing as it is.

It's a shame that you feel that way about the game but not everyone does. As some people have explained here, there are a few of us at least who have preferences for a more useful lounge chair than something you lay on. *shrug* It's just preferences and opinions and everybody's got one. Not sure you can actually prove the "majority" having lost their patience, either, but I personally have enjoyed what they've been producing and adding in the packs they've released and hope they continue with how they've been doing them, even if that means they take extra time to add something like a lounge chair in and it comes in an EP or GP.

"They take extra time" is a totally excuse. And even if it's true, this game is very bad managed. Also there's not much to working on: they can simply copy & paste all the current interactions that are already in the base game + a small new animation to getting on and leave the lounge chair. I appreciate your opinion anyway, but the reality is another. Sorry to say but with all the mistakes that have been made it's difficult to me to understand why they have to behave like this. This game really need a revolution

It's hardly a small new animation though; for a simple reclining back against a lounge chair animation they would have to program in a multitude of additional animations for the multitasking - all to be done while reclined back. Would children be able to use a lounge chair? People would naturally expect them to be able to since a big complaint is that the other age groups often get neglected so add in another reclining animation for children + all those multitasking animations and this is JUST assuming all those sims will be able to do with that chair is recline. I would personally expect more from a lounge chair than that and I would be disappointed if the object ended up being so limited in its use.

So you aren't interest that they make complete in short time the basic things... oh well, you and I we are the exactly the opposite. Also, originally this game was supposed to be a full time online, where you had to pay monthly fees for playing it. Now with the missing content we have to pay anyway for the packs to make it enjoyable. Currently is even worst because they don't release constantly content like The sims 3. If multitasking is the real problem, it's really bad made from the start. This game is so inconsistent. That's all

I don't know where your monthly subscription fee idea came from because I never saw reference to that, but I am aware of what project Olympus was and I know TS4 has its origins as an online-only game. I know EA never directly confirmed it, but it's obvious when you look at the world map and some of the other design choices in the game.

Why would I want EA to rush anything though? If they rush something then it is going to be half-baked and for me if they're going to do something like that then they would be better off not bothering at all. I know not everyone feels this way, but for me? I'd prefer to wait however long as it takes in order to get something that has real depth of gameplay involved. I.E. I would prefer to have a lounge chair that takes a bit longer for them to develop but that encompasses various different interactions and gameplay as opposed to just a lounge chair they pushed out on the quick that excludes age groups and can only be used for a single purpose.

To me, if EA released a lounge chair in a Stuff Pack it would only be fit for one purpose. If EA released a lounge chair in a Game Pack or Expansion Pack that was geared towards a theme (for example; weather) then that lounge chair could do its initial basic function but it could do so, so much more on top of that.

We didn't have to pay for pools and we didn't have to pay for ghosts. I appreciate this is very, very subjective and I am sure there are many people who feel far more wrongedby this game than I do who would heartily disagree with me but for me personally I haven't really seen us having to buy back much "missing" content so far, solely based on what has been released. I'll give you Hot Tubs because that totally happened and it was BS, but just off the top of my head I can't think of much else and I won't currently count Toddlers because nobody knows what is happening with that yet. If you're comparing this to a completed TS1, TS2 or TS3 then sure but this kind of "strip everything away" formula is not new to this franchise. Yeah, it sucks to have to re-buy certain content again and again, but why single TS4 out for this when all of the games are guilty of it?

Multitasking is not a problem, however the fact it exists in the game means the development team have to take the time to consider and add in new multitasking for any new object they create. That doesn't mean it has been badly made at all.

I do appreciate you dislike the game and although it may not sound like it I'm really not trying to convince you that this game is great etc etc - I just feel as though you are being rather unfair / misleading by trying to manipulate this simple Tweet and you are calling the game out on things that, to me, are known traits of this franchise by this point. It's up to an individual to decide whether they're OK with buying back content XYZ for the fourth time or not, but to solely single out TS4 for this and make it sound like such a problem seems off.

Same here. As far as I'm concerned EA can take as much time as they need if they're going to be creating objects with more depth of gameplay than a single animation that only has one purpose.

@Darkslayer the monthly subscription was based on a couple of stores listing it as a presage type access to a subscription before release. It seems after the release went poorly with a lot of criticism they quietly abandoned that idea.

I think people need to start realizing that EA can't give them EXACTLY what they want. If you want lounge chairs but don't want multitasking because it's "useless" how's that fair to those who want multitasking. You need to step out of your bubble and realize you're not the only person who plays the Sims 4.
I can throw this post right back at you ;) How is it fair to expect simmers to embrace (flawed) multitasking when they feel other things in the game are more important but they became impossible (or really hard to do) due to multitasking? I don't quite understand why it's a bad thing to defend what you value in the game on a Sims forum.
Um i'm sorry but I feel that you diagnosing multitasking as "flawed" is opinionated cause I don't think that as well as alot of other people and we can get both multitasking and lounge chairs so your off topic a bit. I'm talking about people who think what they want in a game is more important than what others want. Like when people complain about getting one pack that they didn't want and blaming that on EA. You have to complain when there is an actual problem and you not having every aspect you want is not a problem.
I really wonder if the flaws of multitasking are just opinion, when I look at threads with people complaining about things in the game that are a direct result of multitasking. And you were linking the two things together ("If you want lounge chairs but don't want multitasking because it's "useless" how's that fair to those who want multitasking"), apparently denying people to complain about one feature, favouring the other. Yes, disliking the multitasking in this game is opinionated (the flaws are not, disliking it is), but are you really suggesting people shouldn't express that dislike? People are only allowed to cheer it and tell others it's so immersive, but sharing the opinion it actually destroys immersion for you is not allowed? Or... what exactly do you mean? I'm all for multitasking in this game, but not the way they did it in Sims 4. It's terrible in my opinion.

I think it's sad it almost takes an act of congress to get a long seat in a life simulator. Even Tropico games have a lounge chair at the tourists' pool, and they lay their purse beside them and pick it up when they get up, and shade their eyes, and sit in different positions. With all these 'it must be magnificent!' and have every animation under the sun, you work yourself right out of a job, and or profits is the word I should use. Because while you are mulling over how animated something should be, people are leaving and returning to the games where they didn't have to wait five years to get a seat. And while on that note, the multitasking would only fail at some point or getting annoying or whatever in the long run. Sometimes, too much of a good thing (in excess) is bad..not a good thing. Making problems where players just want a lounge chair beside their pool. Animate it latter, when you have the money and resources but at least make a Sim sit in one. As I said I don't expect them to do somersaults on one. Heck, you didn't animate the dishwasher so what's the difference now? Maxis is creating for themselves a pickle, and painting themselves into a corner with all this multitasking for every thing and then it's not even the right multitasking in most cases. And it doesn't seem to be multitasking as we expect. Stopping to talk isn't multitasking. I can chew, talk and turn my head at the same time. I don't need to chew (stop) wait, wait, wait.....then speak...( humans know how to do this without food falling out of their mouth (most of us), and know how to turn in the right direction to answer the correct person. So, don't even start how magnificent multitasking is to me. Yes, there are some amazing animations but usually multitasking isn't some of them.

Only time will tell if all that have you wrote is the truth... I highly doubt that they can save this game from the ruin  they're obviously in troubles... the Gurus are too afraid to talk with us, and tell real things seems impossible. Look at that person that have leaked informations to keep the interest to the fans... he's risking his job. No comment about this? What a shame

They really need to stop treat us like dumb. There's not even one thing true about what he said. The sims 4 is limited because They want to keep it limited.

I don't think they're in trouble at all; if they were then they would've dropped the game already just like they dropped Sim City after one expansion pack and a couple of very, very small content packs. Things are quiet at the moment, but we have previously had monthly Stuff Pack releases - this doesn't strike me as behaviour of a game developer whose game has failed and especially not one like EA based on my impressions of them. In fairness, it is all just opinion but I haven't really seen anything from EA that would imply the game is in trouble.

The Gurus aren't afraid to talk to us (although considering how many people here tried their hardest to manipulate every tiny thing they say into some massive beacon of incompetence I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want to talk to us), they are either not allowed to talk to us due to development NDAs or they don't have the time. Personally I think this is something they just can't win on; if they're seen to be here a lot chatting and interacting with us then the people who dislike the game (the same kind of people who will manipulate and twist nothing into something) will start complaining that the game is so bad because the Gurus spend too much time dossing about on the forums. If they're not seen enough then it's deemed they're ignoring us.

I'm still optimistic for the game; not optimistic enough to lose track of just whose name is plastered all over it but optimistic enough that I'm not going to write the whole game off because I do find it fun. Out of curiosity, what's the leaked information? I haven't seen anything about that yet.

@sparkfairy1 ahh so it was a thing, I hadn't heard about that one. I know there was talk at one point about EA introducing a subscription-based model but I think that was more along the line of what Origin has brought in now. That's pretty interesting.

I agree with you this time  Unfortunately they can't win in any case...

Anyway here there's the leaked informations:

They really need to stop treat us like dumb. There's not even one thing true about what he said. The sims 4 is limited because They want to keep it limited.

I agree with you this time  Unfortunately they can't win in any case...

Anyway here there's the leaked informations:
