Congrats to @StangMix2, @kilra0, @okester, @leashahampton, @kimartist, @laebeth and @coolsim9999999! YAY!!
And thanks again to @Cbear13 for another fun challenge and taking the time to judge all the entries. Yikes on the curtain not working...I didn't re-playtest after I swapped it out. My bad. Painting was by me...I blew up an ice cream cone and then watched my sim eat the giant thing after painting it. Very surreal!
@chips46 in my experience is that its best to use lots of colors or patterns in areas you want to be eye catching if you have everything busy with colors and patterns then it can confuse the person looking at it as their eyes wont know where to look.
A good example is if you plan to use several different colors on the flooring like you did which also had patterns I would of left the walls a bit more toned down to balance it out but you have to remember if you then go add tons of decoration to the walls then that kills the balance as it adds the busy chaotic style again. Then when you added the different colored cabinets on top of that it made the whole room chaotic.
So my advice is remember to balance it out so the whole room doesn't look so busy, a way to do that with your room could of been to just keep the cabinets one of the colors you had in the room. Another was to remove one of the colors such as either the blue or purple to tone down the color combination which would of allowed you to keep the same amount of decoration.
I hope all that makes sense its fun to judge everyone to see how different they are, some people don't put enough detail in their rooms so the balance is opposite for them.
Your style reminds me of my style of building I am known to fit tons of decoration and detail in the rooms and I always end up removing and toning down some areas before I post because it feels a bit overwhelming. So what I do is when Im done zoom out and have a look at the whole room overall, you want some areas to catch your eye and draw your attention to them while other areas are a bit more toned down. If everything draws your attention it does overwhelm the eyes and confuse them and to some can even make people have to look away.
Maybe I can get creative with a challenge to highlight balance and get people to really think about it...... hmmm off to brainstorm how I can turn this into a challenge somehow lol
Yep do you like my akubras @coolsim9999999 I got dressed up for the occasion Aussies and Kiwis we've been given a place in the forums where we can hang out and chat our other one we had is going to be deleted soon so we have a new one

oh no @Laebeth ! I hate when windows does that to me? Can you pick a time for a restart? You could try that another time. Do you have any of the room in your library? I save my rooms to my library when I've done some work, and I keep replacing the room in my library until I'm done.
I'm sorry to hear that you lost your room --- especially because of Windows!
@coolsim9999999 You can pick times and snooze it, but they also do ones where there is no pre warning and they just shut down. Crazy.
I am normally good at saving since this has happened a lot before. Normally not windows though, for me it's when my game freezes because Origin suddenly has an update.
I'm slowly rebuilding now, while I still remember it fresh, but it is just lame.. I didn't want to do the same thing all over. lol
Oh joy. I was just putting the finishing touches in my Safari room when Windows decides to do a forced restart and I lost everything... Sigh.
Back to square one.
I am so sorry that this happenned to you and you lost all your work ! @Laebeth It was not good at all that Windows restarted on its own! I hope that your second version of the room has no issues.
Oh, I have probably seen that type of update @Laebeth. Sometimes, my computer shuts down "just because," so I save very often. I hope your rebuild doesn't take too, too long. Doing it right away is a great idea, though --- and I'll bet you'll think of a few things to make it even better!
I'm going a lot faster now that I know what I want where. lol. I've finished the terrace part already (and saved). Hopefully manage to finish most of it before I have to go to bed! We'll see. I won't be able to playtest etc, but if it all goes smoothly I can probably put the entry in tomorrow
That's awesome @chips46 ! I may join you guys, but I don't know what I'd talk about. I mean I could chit chat.
I know what you mean @coolsim9999999 I'm the same I only do small talk sometimes we get a game going that usually breaks the ice and get the conversations going
@Laebeth I have that happed to me as well sometimes I forget to save when my game freezes or power surge when you can I'm looking forward to seeing your room when it's done
I'm trying to get my room done I'm just slow and on top of it my computer plays up I think after this I have better get my computer check out before it dies on me
I am sorry that you are having computer issues @chips46 If you are using a laptop, it can help to have a laptop cooler pad because it is warm where you live.
Also sometimes if it is a desktop pc, dust can get into the computer case and cause issues.
