What has happened recently? Blair Furystrykar has been promoted to traffic cop, and I moved a new sim into Sunset Valley. His name is Rex Brody. I can remember that I gave him Never Nude, Unlucky, Clumsy and Great Sense of Humor. I cannot remember his 5th trait, though. His house was the first time I successfully completed a small house fire mission.
Advarius was called out to a large house fire, which he succeeded at. Then he got home. I saved the game at that point. He's named his Fire Engine James Braidwood after the leader of the Edinburgh Fire Engine Establishment, which formed in 1824.
One thing I did fail at was an earthquake test. First house went well, with a grade A, but the second house, the Frio Household's house went wrong. Gas leak, sorted, but 2/3 rescued sims. I looked high and low for the 3rd sim, but gave up and quit to the main menu, picking up from where I last saved.

Homeless Haruo Chapter Two - Things Go From Bad to Worse...

I'd been able to draw off some of the savings that I'd had since I'd been on the street. At least I hadn't had to touch that but that it was there as a nest-egg if I ever needed it. There was at least some §150,000 in there. but all that was about to change for the worse.
I looked at the phone (which was the only piece of technology I had) and saw that there was call from the bank which I had deposited my money in; to call them as soon as possible. I had a gut feeling that it wasn't good. Normally, I get my statements online or on my phone, if I can make it into the library to use their computers. And of course, I'd started putting my profits from my gemstone sales into that bank...to tuck it away. They had no reason to be calling me if everything was going fine.
I'd been doing the usual thing, which was picking up gemstones and then sending them into Aleister's for consignment. And I thought, I was making some pretty decent money. Well, when I picked up the phone and dialed the bank, I get this automated voice message that says, "This bank management is under investigation for management misconduct; we have currently seized all assets as evidence. All those with bank accounts over §1.2M are currently protected by CDIC regulations. All those under that amount are not protected. This has been a message from the Canadian Banker's Association."
It was like a cold shower. My nest egg was gone; and there was no recovery from that. With that one cold perfunctory message, my whole future was now in jeopardy. Was there any way to move forward from that? Not to mention the fact that the previous night, I'd been fined §500.00 for "loitering" by the APPD because the constable stated that "You've been squatting on public property. You've got to move." I had no funds to get the hell out of town, so I was stuck there. The only thing I could do was to keep moving. Yeah, if you think that people have your best interests at heart, think again. It's a cold, cruel world out there.
I was torn between an inferno of rage and a cold sweat: of all the things that could possibly happen, some rich snob with more money and financial security than me had wanted far more than his fair share and decided to embezzle the bank's funds. Those who were financially vulnerable were out of luck.
But that wasn't the end to my string of bad luck. When I went into Aleister's the proprietor told me that he couldn't keep paying me the going rate for gemstones. I noticed that he didn't say this to other people. But considering the fact that I was dependent on the proceeds of the gemstones to survive, I had to take whatever deal that he was offering me, which was less than pennies on the dollar. On top of that he told me that he was taking a 99.9% cut on any tiberium or plutonium that I brought in because of the risks that he was shouldering and that he'd had to set up a proper storage area. The 99.9% would go towards paying off any storage improvements he'd had to do and that he'd be on the hook for any fines going forward. What else could I do. I had a choice: I could go try my luck on the black market which would end up being a risky venture. or I could get stiffed by Aleister. Either way, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I told Aleister, I'll think about it and get back to him. After grabbing a bite at the market (at least I could still afford the occasional apple or banana), I headed up to the fishing hole. Luckily I had bought a fishing license while I'd had the money in the bank, so I was free and clear for the year to catch as many fish as I possibly could, but again, that all depended on whether or not I was able to cook the thing while avoiding getting fined by Appaloosa Plains Police Department for being a fire hazard. Getting fined §25000 for having a fire-hazard, especially with the forest fire risk in the red, was not a good thing. When I got home from the fishing hole, I get a notice from the city hall, saying that I owed them around §240,000 in unpaid fines. Well, there went my financial security. They had tabulated a list of all the by-law infractions in black and white and if I didn't pay them, they'd put a black mark that was un-removeable on my credit rating so I wouldn't be able to borrow any money for a mortgage.
That pretty much made the rest of my day. So I pretty much holed up in my tent for the afternoon and read a skill book on cooking. On top of that, the weather decided to dump a carpload of hail on me and Samson... Flark my life...

I'm sorry I haven't been able to read and reply to everyone's updates, but I did leave awesomes on all the update posts! My vacation starts in about 2-3 days. I'll have a laptop with me while I'm away, but probably won't be able to post as much as I'd like.

In Sims logic Courtney uses the nearest sink to wash the dishes. While there is an open door way looking at the toilet as it is classified a separate room Jasmine has no problem with Courtney walking past her!

I spotted two fourth-generation Gants from the extended family going to an after-school activity. Their names are David and Remmy. Although not siblings, they have the same mouth.

Later that day I was notified that Remmy aged up to teen, so I opened her in Stylist. I like her looks! Her very narrow face comes from this version of the Goth family from the household sharing thread - I have them in my library and Remmy's grandmother was generated from their genetics.
During the night I looked at the festival lot again, and June Frio was still there, more than 12 hours later. Or perhaps she went home and returned again? In any case, she must love snowboarding!

Derek continues to work on his writing but he is still far from accomplishing his goal.
Today we lost another family member. Jennifer, Andrew's IF turned real, passed away at the age of 90 Sim days.
I realized that to blow up more at a time, you can put things close together and it goes much faster. Brittany finally detonated 150 balloons, and now has 500 pieces of scrap she collected.
To deal with their pain, the family went to the Summer Festival. Next are a few photo's from that day.
Since they were all getting hungry, I had four of them enter the hotdog eating contest. Andrew looks like he has an evil plan to win but in the end, Rebecca won with Derek in 2nd, Brittany in 3rd, and Andrew dropping out to throw up.
Then Andrew and Derek went skating for a while when the others went to do other things.
On Saturday, Derek threw a pool party before fall starts.

***Quick little update about the challenge. Llandros made a few changes to the rules and one of them is once someone is in the family, they must stay in the family. The new rule says that they can now move out, as long as you collect their tombstone when they die. The other rule changes don't really apply yet but don't be surprised if I do move out family members now.

Amelia and Nathaniel went to visit Amelia's cousin Phillip to see his toddler daughters.
The family also has a cat. I briefly went into testingcheats/buy on this lot and added some objects for the cat and the toddlers to the house.
The toddlers are called Veronica and Allie, but I can't remember which is which!
The next day was Snowflake Day. It started with two townies, one after the other, calling Amelia around 7 AM to invite her on a date. Inviting a married woman on a date so early in the morning on a holiday - that's rude on so many levels, and Amelia's reaction was appropriately angry.
George spent the morning at the Winter Festival. He easily fulfilled the wish to do 5 snowboard tricks.
In the meantime, his parents prepared a feast party for the extended family.
The family started to arrive, most of them carrying plates of food.
The only non-family sim invited was Marisella Albrecht, the girl with pigtails. She is George's friend from school and potential partner.
Both of her parents were festival food merchants, originally pudding sims that I edited in CAS. I'm glad to see that work paid off - I really like her looks!
George got to know Marisella better. She has the Friendly, Virtuoso and Never Nude traits.
The party was a success - the guests all went home happy.
Sims can be really judgemental! The moment his sister-in-law Siobhan changed into her outerwear to go home, Amelia's brother Lloyd started booing her. Of course she is wearing her outerwear, Lloyd, she is going out into the snow!
I don't think I've mentioned the Lynch family on here. Parents are Chris and Karen, kids are Emma, Kirsten and Megan (last two being twins). Chris is a wannabe five-star chef and Karen wants to master three skills. She's mastered Riding, is close with Mixology and not very far with Painting. It's a fairly random mixture but I thought it'd be cool. They have two horses, Ginger and Eddy.

Lara was voted Most Likely to Get Married which is exactly what she would be doing when the family got home
The family gathered around the arch. Ian was well off screen, watching the wedding from the far side of the deck.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house
When I checked on Nial I found he was no longer playing on the xylophone and was watching a wedding on TV. I hadn't turned on the TV so I don't know if that's meant to happen automatically during weddings or not.

I have always loved how much expression TS3 sims show when they are in love. Some of the looks are a little goofy but mostly it is beautifully done

I laughed really hard when I saw Ian complaining that Josh was dancing in the spot he wanted while Josh was looking very embarrassed about his fall

Jay had been practising MA because he had a wish to level up. When he got his wish I sent him to the kitchen to get started on the cooking skill.
