Congrats to those who got the casino on the dd.

When will the new list start? The week is going by fast and waiting on the new list to maybe be able to get some things I'm still wanting the most that sell out to fast for me.

    Hey Simmers,

We'll be uploading a new list next week that will take into consideration your feedback on the quantity limits and timing. While the list will be long like this one, it will also repeat.

    Hope that helps!

BTW don't these new forums look amazing?

    TT

I had to go back and read the message from SGTT again because I keep checking on the Daily Deals, comparing them to the spreadsheet and waiting for a new list to begin.

Now I'm wondering if the new list has already been uploaded but it won't 'kick in' until after the current repeat list is complete? Or maybe it's automated and will kick in when it feels good and ready. *becoming obsessed over a new list*

    @Marlin114,

I'm also starting to wonder if the current list will finish out before the new one goes live. Wait and see, I guess...

So, two weeks on from SimGuruTaterTot's reassuring post about a new DD list which would fix the fast sell-out problems ... hmm, does time move that much more slowly at EA, I could have sworn she said we would have the new list last week ... :(

It seems the Guru's will say anything -just to get us to stop asking the question.
They either have zero control & will stall as much as they can -or they outright lie.

For me, I'd rather they just tell the truth -or say nothing at all.

Historically there has been no real pattern to when a DD list starts; it seems like all they need is to find someone who knows how to flip the switch - we have been told in the past though that it is apparently a difficult switch to flip :-(

Even so, saying something will happen when there is nothing, or no one, in place to actually do it is particularly annoying, especially when we were so pleased to have had a response from a SimGuru.

You know, it occurs to me that her post was misleading.
    Hey Simmers,

We'll be uploading a new list next week that will ...
"Uploading" is not the same thing as "starting." I don't know if the ambiguity of her statement was deliberately misleading or unintentionally so, but it occurs to me that uploading a list does not automatically mean that it will stop the current list and replace it right away.

Edit: Fixed an ambiguity in my own post.

True *sigh* maybe after this list has reached the end *looks hopeful for best of 2010*

Yeah. I'm not saying I agree with SGTT for being misleading, but it's possible that the ambiguity was unintentional. Or it's even possible that she was simply relaying what she was told, and she may or may not know whether or not uploading a list (whatever the PTBs at EA mean by that) immediately causes a switch in the current DD list or not.

I'm not certain how their system works, but I'm just saying that although we presumed one thing, this may or may not have been what SGTT had intended to mean. (Although I think it was; I suspect that either she believed that uploading a new list would supplant the current list, or something happened to delay uploading the list. But at this point it's speculation, and speculation means nothing.)

SimGuruTaterTot, Any news on when the new list might start? Hoping for more news about the new list and when it might start. I'm hoping to finally be able to get some of those fast selling flash dd's.

That is a fair point, the language is open to different interpretations. We have been told before that it is not an entirely simple process and SimGuruTaterTot may have just been relaying a message from the backroom boys (and/or girls) and she may not have been fully aware of the process, but for us dedicated DD Stalkers her intent seemed clear, so it would be good to know exactly what was meant.

I guess this is how schisms start isn't? Half of us say the prophet meant 'start' and the other half that the word was merely to 'prepare'? ;)

Well, I had interpreted it the other way before; it wasn't until I had read the post several times (as I was watching the Disagree number on it go up in amusement) that I realized it could be interpreted another way.

I have the feeling that SGTT really wasn't trying to mislead us, but she either had incorrect information about when the new list was going to be uploaded, or she wasn't aware - so didn't inform us - that uploading doesn't mean the new list doesn't start immediately.

I have no idea if this is actually TRUE, mind you, it's just that I know enough about computer systems to know that it could be this way. (And probably is, although there's no way for me to be 100% positive without actually seeing how their system is implemented.)

I really hope the new list starts soon. I keep missing out on deals because they go too quickly. Brunch at the Old Mill ended before it even began, and I have fast internet. I waited up all night for it and didn't even get half a chance.

Still no new list I'm going back to my theory that we won't see it until after the Sims 4 release. Hey EA if your watching this can you throw us a bone some of us are getting antsy.

Perhaps they meant to say next month and said next week? I know that I do stuff like that all the time, so it's possible, but I do feel bad for all those who were excitedly waiting for the list to change, only to have nothing happen. :o

Although I don't follow the DD as passionately as I used to, I still care about all the hardworking people who spend their free time working to keep the thread up to date. If not for the DD thread I never would have spent hundreds of dollars on simpoints over the past couple years in my pursuit to own the store, and I never would have purchased so many EPs, worlds, stuff packs. That's right DD stalkers, I blame you! :p (kidding, just kidding) <3

Seriously though, EA might not realize it, but the DD stalker thread is a wonderful free marketing tool, because I know that I am not the only person who started reading that thread, and ended up obsessively working on owning the store. So I hope you get your wish and they change the list soon.

    Well, hello Alli! :-)

To be honest it is basic retail psychology isn't it. Every consumer has their own 'sweet spot' price/value figure and simply will not buy anything that does not give them a value that is greater than the price being charged. If the Sale or DD price is right for me but I can't purchase the item, I simply will not buy it at full price, so that is a sale lost, a profit opportunity missed!

I have no doubt that the introduction of CYS increased massively both the volume and value of sales made through the Store because it meant we could all buy individual items without wasting money if we later decided to get the set.

As you say, without CYS, without the Daily Deals, without the enthusiasm and dedication of the DD Stalkers you, me, and probably thousands of others would never have bought half the stuff that we have now.

So, EA, stop messing us about, sort out the DD, put CYS on all the sets (and venues) where we can buy individual items, and see your sales go up another notch.

You might as well ask Siri the price of the Moon. None of the algorithms left on the Sims 3 server know what a SimGuru is. All kidding aside, I would be very surprised if a human is involved with the store now . The Sims 3 section of this site, maybe, but not likely. I predict a further change after the Sims 4 release. Hopefully.

Please please start the new list soon and hopefully stop the quick selling stuff. I'm getting stressed out missing the sets and venues that are my most wanted because they sell way to quick. Please can we get an update on the status of when the new list might start?

Ive given up.. Cant buy the DD's I want, Cant press abuse button for @SimGuruTaterTot's post which would now represent my feelings better than just "Disagree". Still have to wait for Sims 4 to be released here because EA lives in the stone age and cant release same day internationally like steam can. Very Sad now.. If I die of sadness blame the SimGurus. :(

Given the usual behavior of the DD lists (to the extent that any behavior can be called usual behavior at this point), I would guess that the new list has been uploaded, but that the DD won't switch over to it until we hit the end of the current list.

Even if that's the case, it doesn't make TaterTot's post any clearer to the average user, or indeed, to people who closely follow the DD list. If TaterTot knew that we would have to run through this whole list before we saw any changes, it would have been best to clearly say that. The frustration that people are feeling should have been rather easy to foresee. At the very least, someone should have stepped in to clarify by this point, even if TaterTot is incommunicado right now.
