I know there are some people who deal with hard times in their lives, and many have shared on social media about creating their self in video games like the sims. I remember when I created my son in the sims 4 game, he was happy to see it, he has autism and the look on his face was priceless

I have an older and only brother who was murdered, for starters. I had fertility issues which was emotionally painful, as well. There is no way I want to even come close to reliving any of that drama. Even having gone through it I wouldn't change a thing, so there's just no cathartic in playing myself. I am, however, attempting to play the lives of my sixth great-grandparents, who lived in the 18th century. They both grew up during the French and Indian War having to deal with the various soldiers running through their parents' farmsteads, to the point my 7th great-grandfather (Hawkins side) built a Palisade around his entire property.

Wow! Makes our 9-5 grind and commute pale to nothingness. Sounds like a good basis for a story in a book, or even a series.

Nope, Sims allows me to be a million things I am not. I have no interest in making me in the Sims. I've played Sims 1, 2, and 4 (3 came at a time I wasn't really playing many games and never circled back to it). I just never felt motivated to create me or anyone I knew in real life. I've also been a story writer since I was little, so the idea of creating a bunch of personalities and following them on a journey was what I was most interested in more than "living out" anything in particular in my own virtual skin.

Eh, I tried it. Nabbed my avatar off of it. Mostly I just felt a little shame that I couldn't achieve so many degress in high school and couldn't make a living as a writer. Alas!

Have used it as a testing ground for fashion for by body shape at least.

Yes I do! I have my parents, my siblings and my wife’s family too. Then I will have my kids when we age up.

No way. I rather make fake characters and fake stories to escape the real world.
