I didn't purchase either of these packs. My Superstar (singer Sim) was a Rocker. How silly would it have been to decorate his stage with ice cream cones and such? I cringe just thinking about it.
I like JTB, it could have been much better though.
So that only leaves...
I have been playing Star Wars: Journey to Batuu since it launched.
This must be the most hated pack in all of The Sims 4.
It also happens to be perfect for my sims.
Some of my past sims 4 pack explorations was with test sims, but this time I am playing my main sims.
I have been holding off playing my main sims for a while, waiting for certain packs and features to arrive.
I have everything I need now to finally get everything fully underway.
My sims got a GeekCon notice about an hour before JTB was available for download.
It was nice that I got to try out their hobby with old content before the new Star Wars content arrived.
I believe I will have them take off every Tuesday from school and have them ready to go in case a GeekCon event drops.
Melonie as Boba Fett.
Olivia as Princess Leia.
Not my sims.
It was a nice little outing.
Yuki Behr won this computer...
...AND A TRIP TO GALAXY'S EDGE!
Hey, that's the Falcon back there.
While I was getting my sims new outfits, Olivia ran off on her own.
I found her here eating some space popcorn.
She's a teen now. The game aged her up while I was playing other sims.
So..., where are all the locals?
It does look good.
If the phones work, they are in an amusement park.
If the phone don't work, they are at an outpost in a galaxy far, far away.
After some early game play, I decided that I really did not like how the world was arranged.
You get one interactive lot and several rabbit holes. I particularly did not like that your base camp was a rabbit hole.
So I set about fixing that. I took time out to edit the Cantina.
I thought a speeder should be outside.
I placed a restroom rabbit-hole back here, out of sight because it doesn't really fit the look of Batuu. I put it here in case I did not feel like sending my sim beneath the Cantina.
It does not work.
And what is beneath the Cantina, you ask?
Lodgings.
I was really getting tired of running all the way to the rabbit hole accommodations and the food rabbit holes.
Plus it was killing immersion.
I can add these cameras to their inventory. They haven't been tested, so I don't know if everything will be okay when they return home.
They do not work.
I love this.
The door lock was a bit funky. It's best to lock it for everyone and then select your sims one at a time for entry permission.
Like University.
Batuu Living.
I chose these beds because they seemed travel oriented with storage lockers.
They're more military though.
Once you learn the food recipes from Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7, you can cook it for yourself here.
The refrigerator will not let you store left overs unfortunately.
Ronto Wraps.
I have just finished it, but have yet to play it.
I do feel it will make a huge quality of life improvement for Batuu.
My main disappointments is the spy device in the corner, from Strangerville.
I was hoping I could plant spy bugs on imperial officers and blackmail them for credits.
Also, the cameras I placed on the lot cannot be used. It looks like JTB will be fussy about content from other packs.
Not a fan of Eco Lifestyle because of NAPs however.
I have not played either pack but I feel like the Star Wars one might be the worst, just in my opinion. It seems like it would be just so far removed from feeling like it fits in with any of the other packs. Even the magic Harry Potter one fits in with the other mythical creatures the Sims has, but Star Wars is completely its own thing. But who knows, maybe people who love Star Wars get some kind of satisfaction out of this pack
I am waiting to buy Batuu but definitely prefer it to KP.
I think I used one dress and downloaded a bake shop lot that used some of the deco items and that was it. Can only take so much "sweetness" at one time. Plus no gameplay whatsoever just glitz.
"Every child matters. If we fail our children, we are bound to fail our present, our future, faith, cultures, and civilizations as well."
I never got Katy Perry's pack so I have no opinion toward it. JtB however I dont know why it exists or why someone decided that it should exist. Never buying it. On sale? No. Free? No. As far as Im concerned its a stand alone thing that isnt part of the remaining packs.
but i may be biased cause i think making willy wonka land or cute shops out of katy perry stuff would have been fun if it was not katy perry advertisement
like idk i was never into star wars so i dont know what i would even do with jtb but i know exactly what i would do with some ridiculous sweets themed furnitures
i don't care because we're not forced to buy those packs, it ain't nothing new that ea and many other companies use their products as an advertising tool, be it for politics, for a certain brand, for a celebrity, whatever
I think you could have fun with Katy Perry's House of Pain. Journey to Galaxy's Edge? I'm not sure. They are both blatant cash grabs but somehow Galaxy's Edge grates more.
On that subject have you heard that Disney are refusing to pay Alan Dean Foster, well known science fiction author and writer of the novelisation of A New Hope, several other Star Wars books and the novelisations of the Aliens movies royalties they owe him? https://www.sfwa.org/2020/11/18/disney-must-pay/
Katy Perry Sweet Treats isn't even bad. People just love to be edgy by hating on anything that's considered "mainstream". Hating Katy Perry and other pop stars is, for some reason, the "cool" thing for people to do.
Also, Sweet Treats wasn't released during a time in Sims 3 when we were severely lacking much more important gameplay and content. Sims 3 packs were always great, regardless. Meanwhile, in Sims 4, we have A LOT of things yet to be added to the game that fans have been wanting and asking for... but EA decided to take the Star Wars game pack route for some reason... and then acted surprised by the backlash. As if they didn't ask for it.
Almost NOBODY wanted the Star Wars pack (it even came in last place in the surveys EA sent out)... but they released it anyway because common sense isn't something EA has, apparently.
Hate both and do not own either but when you have a game already lacking with so many basic things like dancing face to face, it is DEFINITELY not the time to release some rando pack that really has nothing to do with the sims.
I bought Sweet Treats when it was on sale for $5 once. There were actually enough usable outfits and items to make it worth that price, particularly since we could recolor. And my daughter loves the pack.
But I don't want Star Wars in my game. At all. Not even remotely. I never even use the costumes that were with the game already. If I was interested in Star Wars, I would play one of the SW games my kids have. I will never buy it.
I have to KPST is the worst cause even though JTB is forgettable IMO it has some good build and cas pieces here and there while ST is very themed limiting it uses. Plus it adds little to nothing for men and kids so that is a big upset for me.
Also KPST was $30 USD when it came out and it was a limited item only sold for a period of time. You can't even buy it now unless you find a physical copy. JTB is 20 like all other GPs.
I think most ppl think JTB is the worst cause it new and fresh so their disappointment and anger with it is fresh.

It's too bad Eco wasn't on the list, I would pick that hands-down, no thinking about it required

Star Wars offers nothing at all redeeming and I will never add it to my game.
