@Miki Then it would seem I misunderstood your intent. Thank you for clarifying, and I'm sorry if it had come across as if I don't understand the logic behind the restrictions coming into play. I was rather overwhelmed, is all.
It actually helps quite a bit to know just how deep the restrictions once reached, as it explains why those who experienced it don't see the new members group as being so restricted (in comparison, it isn't).

What I said about "reduce" trolling activity holds true, of course. They can't really be fully stopped.
From time to time this past year this forum has also been attacked by spam bots "people" who sign up new accounts, in spite of "Re-captchas" and double-verification, something ordinary spam bots can't do-- leading me to suspect it's an inside job orchestrated by a Full member.. and those "new accounts " began flooding certain segments of the forums with junk posts, mostly in the Korean language at the rate of one every two minutes per Bot-- forcing the moderation to find and ban the bevvy of bots and then delete all their many posts.
As a result, New Members can't even start threads until they attain regular status.. The bots are so far unable to make meaningful posts and get the "likes" also known as "feedback" or on other forums called "reputation points" and generate their system-clogging spam.
I wish we could go ahead and choose a temporarily profile picture... Would make me feel less naked <.<
Hello @CallieGirl42
You receive a point each time another simmer presses like or awesome or insightful on a post that you have posted. Keep posting on the different threads and sections of the forums and you will soon get the points/posts. The off topic section is a good place to post.
You will soon get the required points and posts if you also post about your simming experiences on threads that you are interested in the thread topics.
Reading and posting on threads in the Stories and Legacies section is great. The simmers there would appreciate your feedback on their Stories and their legacies.
So I'm not a new member, I've been on here since 2011. I took a break from the sims for a while but I've recently rediscovered The Sims 4 and I'm so excited for the new expansion pack which brought me back to the forums only to discover that I'm considered a new member again. I'm so close to getting back to a normal member again, can anyone help me out with some likes? I don't plan on trolling anyone (I'm 25 and too old for that nonsense) and I really want to be able to share some of the builds I've been making but I can't because I'm not allowed :(. I love these forums and you guys and your discussions have gotten me through some really boring days at work! Help a simmer out?

Hello @alimafion Welcome back to simming and the forums! The new Cats and Dogs Ep sounds great! You nearly have enough points and posts. You need to make a few more posts, and you will soon reach the points needed also.
Happy simming!
I've had this account since 2009 I had many many posts before they reset things and started these stupid points things. I don't get to play as much as I use to but doesn't mean I may not have anything to contribute. Still only 2 points away. This is annoying. I understand they are protecting us from bots and stuff, but also feels..punishing.
The old forum had products linked to it - ie you have to register a key - which seemed like a great idea. However, a certain longe-term problematic individual realised they could circumnavigate this via EA Customer Services - ie, you didn't really need to re-purchase anything - you could just walk in and nobody was going to stop you.
So, the old system, whilst it seemed great and made people happier that a problem member would have to at least purchase a product to reappear on the forums, was pretty much smashed into oblivion once someone found out they could simply bypass it for free and become unstoppable.
Happy there is a thread to help us newbies. I feel like I’m posting all over everything just to get enough points to be a member of a game I’ve been playing for 18 years lol!

Hello @Simskrista You just need one more post and you will then be a full member!
Wheh you become a full member, there will be a blue “ new discussion” button on the top right hand side of the screen , and you will then be able to start a new thread.
@rosemow Thanks, I get why this system was put in to place, but its a bit of a hindrance for people (like me) who need to ask something without being able to create a discussion. Is there anywhere I can post without creating a new thread?
