I find this disturbing.
I really hope getting an apartment is not about the same as buying a home.

You are RENTING. There shouldn't be an 8,000 to 10,000 simoleon payment to get into an apartment.
All you should need is the first month and last months rent. It should be extremely cheap to get into an apartment and you can use all your starter cash to furnish your home instead of living with just a cheap bed, toilet, and microwave oven. I would expect Penthouses and very upscale apartments to be expensive however.

I am confused about the penthouse answer, they said 3 are available in CL-SM, does that just mean 3 prebuilt or does that mean you can only place/build 3 penthouses in that world period end of story. ?

I had read that penthouses could be placed anywhere so I am confused a little on this one. I thought I read that penthouses werent actually a lot type, so that is also confusing. gah I cant find the tweets now. :sadface:

My understanding is that "penthouse" means a lot located on top of a skyscraper shell, that there are three of these in total, and that they start as residential but can have other lot types.

I think that penthouses are simply lots on top of high rises. You can make the lots either residential or community (so you could have a rooftop restaurant or nightclub). We might learn more later this afternoon when they do the livestream.
