Sims 3 "Road Trip Build Challenge"

"The Tourist Trap Challenge"




Hi there! Since my vacation had to
be canceled,and I have spare simpoints I decided my sims need
to go on a road trip, using traveler mod.
However, they lack tourist traps and places to
visit.So I decided to host a challenge, similar
to the Sims 4 one on tumblr.

Rules:
1.All lots must be community lots.
2.No 3rd party content - CAP is okay!
3.You may use store content, but I don't own, Mother Russia, Grandpa's Grove
Prisim Art Studio.
4.All expansions EXCEPT Katy Perry Sweet treats
may be used.

Lot types:
1.Roadside attractions- like things you would see
on rt 66.the more creative, the better!
2.Motels/Hotels: A sim has to have a place to stay
don't they?
3.Campgrounds - Well sometimes you just need
to rough it outside.
4.Museums - Always nice to get some culture into
their lives.
5.Diners/Gift shops/Convienent stores- Places to
rest, eat and get snacks.
6.Casinos/amusement parks.

If you see a lot that you want to do but not
listed, go ahead and do it.This is is just rough
ideas.

I plan on using different worlds for this,
some custom worlds.So you may theme it how
you see best.

Prizes:

All lots will be used in someway or another
in my game, that I promise.I do have some spare
simpoints left over for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

First: 500 sp worth of store items.
Second: 300 worth of store items.
Third place: 200 worth of store items.

Deadline: June 10th 2020

Edit: Please try to not use the sets I don’t own.Thats why I listed them.Im not a builder and don’t know much about constrainfloor or moo and don’t want to have to go in and exit roofing and builds

it sounds a fab idea to create road trip attractions for your sims ... just one question: what's the best lot size to use to fit easily into your different worlds?

Any of the lot sizes that come with the games, like 40x30 or 64x64 or 50x50 etc, ones like 32x10 I usually can't find somewhere to put XD

Hi @GraceyManor ,

while I'm waiting in anticipation for the Gift Exchange to start I've been building community lots to try and fill up my world I'm working on and one of them is 'The Pit Stop'. As that would probably fit into your Road Trip theme I'm just wondering if you would be interested in adding it to one of the worlds you've planned to use.
It's built on a 30x20 lot and has a fair amount of activities to keep visitors occupied.
As my world is not ready to be exported yet I've tested the build in Riverview ... where it got swamped with entertainment starved Riverview inhabitants and I'm afraid there was a little 'foot-stomping' going on due to the crowds but nothing major.
If you think you can make use of the build I'll gladly upload it as soon as you'll let me know.

I really liked this stop on route 66. It looked great with the Mother Russia roof that you don't have, but it easily converts to a normal round pale thatch roof. So, I kept the Mother Russia roof in place as people would have to use MOO to place that and then recolor it. But, putting the default round roof in place requires none of that.
Anyway, here it is:

@ciane unfortunately don’t own the mother Russia set but it looks really good with it.I’m not a builder so I don’t know how to edit roofs properly.my game doesn’t replace roofs for me instead it replaces it with chairs and coaches lol

I knew you didn't have the Mother Russia set, but I wanted to make a version that would work either way. You just use the roof tool on round roof and click at one end and drag to the other, but I'll upload the round roof version for you.

Oh okay.Someone made me a gift once for the holiday exchange and they used some items from that set and the game replaced the roof with rocking chairs.

I searched up Twistee treats just for kicks..I wanna go lol it looks really neat!

Yeah, the Mother Russia roof pieces are all deco items in buy mode, not build items. So, you would have had to just delete whatever replacement item appeared and replace it with a real roof. Now, you don't have to.
