@GracieO312 that sounds cool! Do you maybe want to post a link or/and a few of your edits and maybe even a short info how you made them?
For tutorials a friend and I are always very lucky finding tutorials on youtube.
But also the Sims4 Studio Forums has very useful and easy tutorials (even for blender and other software).
About gimp: yes the presets make it much quicker and easier. I barely used them with the old version I used for around ten years (...) but then I updated and everything was so wonky with the sliders so I use them for almost everything now ^^'
I enjoy playing supernatural characters but I would say it's done in a pretty realistic setting. I wanted them to feel like the superheroes of SimNation. They have day jobs, relationships pros/cons, life struggles etc. It's still pretty early on in the story but I enjoy the editing process. Werewolves threw a massive spanner in the works with EA introducing more lore - I try to keep it somewhat realistic to the Sims universe e.g. they use Simoleans, references to past Sims games etc. I also like to subtly poke fun a certain game features/designs (in a loving way, of course).
I mainly use GIMP and sometimes Procreate on my iPad. I am currently working on improving my my editing as this whole experiment has been something I've really enjoyed doing and I'm researching on how I can make it better. I actually spend most of my time watching YouTube tutorials on how to edit photos!
This is something I mocked up a few weeks ago as a proof of concept type thing. It's just a quick and dirty edit I did on Procreate/GIMP but I really liked the concept of it and how it turned out in the end:
@GracieO312 you say 'quick and dirty' but this looks so stunning and professional! How his shoulder overlaps the other picture is so cool - and the editing in general. I love this.
And I just started to read your story. It's amazing and I like the characters! And your camera angles!
I love to play with supernatural sims too and the werewolf pack is my favourite sn pack. So much lore!
It even inspired a few episodes in my story and the world is so well done.
(We just started a new story index since the old one got abandoned. If you like you can feature your story there. the thread is π here)
I just played with inkscape again but I'm going to check youtube later for some inspiring gimp tutorials
Boys over Flowers/Pizza ππ
I am tempted to restart Vincent's story in a new thread with the proper 'comic' book look and rewrite some scenes because now the Werewolf lore is out I can write it with that in mind (I wouldn't change it entirely though). Plus with my new GIMP/Procreate/Blender/TOOL skills I can make some of the scenes look heaps better. The amount of times I said to myself 'oh I should've done that' or 'why didn't I think of that' (for example, I would completely renovate the police station)? Doing it that way though does mean I would have to take more screenshots and make more Sims/builds but that's what makes it fun, right!?
My original thread is also full of spoilers because I actually had no intention of sharing my story so I think starting fresh would help... I'm actually tempted to leave my story until the Sims 4 has completed it's run and start again then. I can then know what I do and don't have to work with in terms of features/lore etc.
For today's episode I created ingame posters from screenshots with Sims 4 Studio.
This can be done in a few minutes too and it is really not hard to learn.
Sims 4 Studio offers great and easy tutorials at their forum.
(I mentioned it before but it really is so easy and you can do so much after you learned it.)
open Sims 4 Studio - create new project - search the object you want to use for a new swatch - export the texture - open texture in gimp - put the new texture on it - save - import to Sims 4 Studio and save (That's pretty much it!)
And what I also do from time to time is to edit Social Bunny messsages for my story
New profile pics
Edited with gimp filters (-> Filters -> Decor -> Old Photo)
These are looking a bit better than the ones above. There's still a little tuning to be done after the 'old photo' filter with brightness, sharpen...
So the results are different
Profile pics
Screenshots taken in a white room so there wasn't much to edit.
For Sai, Kiyoshi and Jack's I edited the floor out but then I thought it looked better with ^^'
And for Jack's I took two and edited the wolf in.
Created with gimp.
Sometimes my screenshots even make it to the other world.
I'm into bookbinding and made a new cover for my tarot book
(out of old wallpapers, amazon packaging, coffee dyed printer paper and tomato paste tubes ^^').
I took this screenshot of Dtui, Rita and Francine (our three witches) for the cover and aged it with a frame from Photoscape and added the text.
On the library card you can see that they all borrowed the book from the 'Men of Letters' library (from Supernatural) which I rebuilt in Sims 4 in my 'Wolves of Letters' bunker.
Jules and Francine (Jeb's grandmother) are a couple for a while and it seems they both did a tarot reading on their relationship.
How sweet
Making your own covers for books isn't as hard as it looks.
If you want to try yourself I can recommend the channel 'Nik the Booksmith' on youtube.
@Lenny_Ogg I'm enjoying all of your screenshots. I appreciate how you've written each of your Sims' names in their profile pictures in their native languages. That's a nice touch. I like the library card too. I wonder who checked it out in 08/91. It reminds me of some super unpopular books I checked out from a library once (I don't think we used the cards anymore but they still had them there) and they were checked out once every 20-50 years starting in 1900s-1920s.
@haneul thank you so much! I admire your editing skills and a lot and it flatters me that you like my stuff.
I know I could do better if I only wasn't (weren't?) so impatient ^^'
But maybe it helps people to try it themselves because it's 'quick and dirty' and easy to learn? (At least I tell this to myself haha)
The person who checked out the book is me (I wrote my real name there and censored it.)
Ah I love books and libraries and bookshops. It's magic for me.
I don't do anything to my screenshots beyond scaling them down. I use Imgur to scale them down for the forum and Gimp for the ones that go on my blog. I did figure out how to add text to a picture, but that is the limit of my editing skills. I think I could figure out how to sharpen the images, but since my screenshots in their unedited form are shot at a super high resolution I'm not sure how much there is to gain.
We have a few tarot decks here too π The book I posted above is so easy to handle, anyone can lay the cards. And so a collegue asked me to bring the book and the cards to our christmas party from work. She layd the cards and was astonished how accurate it was. Then another collegue wanted to try and another ^^' Even those who said in the beginning what a rubbish this is, tried it in the end and some went really quiet. And no one (out of around ten people, even men in their fifties) said it was rubbish after they tried it. (I asked none of them what their question was, but it was such an amazing evening.)
I asked the imagechef AI again to draw me some pictures from my Sims
@Lenny_Ogg Love those atmospheric edited screenshots. Beautiful. ...RE: tarot. Your experience sounds impressive! Sometimes readings can be very insightful, so I keep an open mind about things like this. π€ π€·ββοΈ π

Thanks! I also think you don't need to do any better. I didn't notice any flaws. I like your latest images of Mt. Komorebi too. You inspired me to add more personalized CC to my game as well.
@MrPlumbob I love how you did the inside flap too. Is this her first book? Is it a biography/nonfiction about her being a CEO?
this is actually Monica's second book. Not sure what genre it would be considered, but it's sort of a self-reflective non fiction book about finding your happy place in life. (I've never read that type of book, so I'm not sure) I wrote the Preface for it, which has a little more info on it.

Normally, I try to keep my edits for my legacy very subtle but I did this one to try to convey the dreamy feeling of her song.
For the curious, I used Lightroom, Photoshop, and Luminar Neo.
